Dog Pix
Well, the picture of Spud leaping up at the flushing pheasant made it into the HRC magazine. Not on the cover, but in a section in the magazine entitled, "That's My Dog"!!! B) B) I've still got the other picture of him in front of the cattails though in the running. Maybe they'll consider that one when it gets closer to "upland" season, seeing that what he's doing in the picture!!! :thumbsup

Electricity From Sun
Come to northeastern Illinois/southeastern Wisconsin. You'll soon find that at times during the year we don't see the sun for days straight!!!! Just a couple years ago, we had a November that was the "least sunny" on record; or since records have been kept. Only 4 days of that month were classified as "mostly sunny" or better. Until the sun can power a whole house and the cost is not astronomical, it's not a viable option. Especially in areas of the country more known for overcast skies than here!!!!

4th ECM...PLEASE HELP
What you describe sounds like that old "Definition of Insanity"........doing the same thing over and over again hoping for a different outcome!!!!! I sure know that if I was looking for my 4 ECM, and was running a hypertech on all the previous ones that failed, I sure wouldn't download a hypertech program until I found the reason!!!!!! Honestly though, I've no clue why your truck would eat ECM's..........IMHO, ditch the hypertech and run stock for a while........if the ECM stays sound, you'll know the cause then!!!! :smart

slow at high rpms
The 3rd gens will fuel all the way to redline before defueling. I've held my truck at about 96-100mph; which is about 28-2900rpm........then stick her to the floor, and she goes until 3200rpm or about 110mph. At least in my truck!!! :thumbsup You're loosing the torque in the 2nd gens above about 2800rpm.....that's why it seems to be doggish.

JET FUEL
JP 8 is real, real dry fuel. You'll need to add some lubricity to it so you don't ruin your fuel system as I've read of guys doing it on other forums. They work at airports or hangars and can often get it for nothing. I don't know how much 2 stroke per gallon of jet fuel you would need though. Hopefully, Mike will know.

Frantz or Amsoil bypass
I change the OEM filter once per year.

Frantz or Amsoil bypass
I'm approaching 65,000 miles without an oil change with my MotorGaurd TP bypass. That's using the SuperTech 15W40 dino oil also. The TP bypass's are more "labor" intensive, which means more frequent filter changes...........however they filter much finer than the others. Amsoil is a good bypass........filters are pricey IMHO and so is their oil.........however, yearly filter changes are appealing.I use Scott 1000 TP in my bypass. It costs about .76 per roll. SuperTech 15W40 is about $9.00 per gallon and I add 1 quart per filter change out. On the other hand, Amsoil competes with John Deere on who can inflate prices the fastest. 8|

Why???
I experiment a lot with my truck. One thing that I'm at a loss to figure out is this...............When I'm cruising on the highway at 65mph without the AC on and the windows closed and the fan on only, my boost is running 4-5psi and EGT's are about 600*F. Get this though.........same conditions/speed.......I turn the AC on to recirulate mode...............boost drops to a steady 4psi and EGT's drop to about 550 or slightly less. Let me say this, both of these scenarios are running level ground with little or no wind. Does turning the AC on "advance" the timing that much more???? I've done the "tone ring mod" and run the Smarty on default settings. If I advance the timing on the Smarty, I get "timing rattle". I don't see how this scenario works out!!!!????

frantz
Have you checked their website........http://www.wefilterit.com ???? I think they have a vendors area there.

What Could Be Left?
Is the motor de-fueling because of the larger injectors you're running???? It could be so you don't lose your tranny. You're getting so much more fuel from those sticks and the PCM senses it and de-fuels between shifts because the AC puts even more load on the motor. Thinking outside the box.

Power Steering
Check out the whole front end. It could be any number of things.........tie rod ends, ball joints, axle u-joints, steering box etc.

What Could Be Left?
APPS Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor????? It under the black plastic cover on the drivers side of the engine by the intake horn. You'll need some sort of scanner to check the voltage though.

Frantz oil filter
I have my return line going down to the oil pan via a STHB........Self Tapping Hollow Bolt. Sounds serious, but it's pretty easy to install. And the nice thing about having the return line to the oil pan is that the filter drains when you shut down the engine. It makes for a much cleaner TP change.

I am thinking Sun Coast..
You would probably do well with just a valve body and an upgraded torque converter. You're not looking at huge HP, so you don't need billet shafts. But talk to a good auto trans guy. I'm not that guy.

I am thinking Sun Coast..
Is this for your '01????? That's what your signature says........or did you get a 3rd generation???? Truthfully, I'm not an expert on auto trannys. Clutches, that's another matter. Let me know.

Stupidity Charge

Show Your Colors
Don't talk to me about rain, Russ. Three weeks ago this Friday, there was a "major dumpage" in my area. I had water up to my house on 3 sides. On the crown of the street in front of my drive, there was 4 inches of water at the high point. 8| Good thing I'm on a crawl space, because a full basement would've been real, real wet!!!! The sump pump in my crawl ran non-stop for about 6 hours.........and for 4 or those hours, I dropped a little "kicker" pump along side of the sump pump!!!!!!! There was a lot of water here!! I only wish the pictures I took turned out. There was so much reflection off of the water in my yard that you cannot tell what the hell you're looking at on the pix I took!!!!! Sorry y'all!!!!!! ` `

Show Your Colors
Being a proud American, I'm displaying the "Stars and Stripes" proudly this weekend!!! Along with my NRA flag below. In these "rough" times when we've got a President that when traveling around the world apologizes for America and for what America stands for, we need to stand up and be even stronger and more steadfast in the face of this Liberal/Socialist/Communist/Marxist onslaught that was brought on by the last election. Hopefully; soon, this nightmare will, in time, soon pass. Happy Fourth Everyone!!!!! :thumbsup

high egt temps
Keeep the set up you have, and go with a set of twins. It's easier to get them to fit on the 2nd gens. You'd probably have to do "head studs", fire rings and maybe valve springs also though. Smaller injectors would most likely be cheaper!!
