  1. i like the cleared out engine bay. i believe those optima batteries can be mounted in any position, and give you more room in your box for gear. does anyone know where the factory motor/frame ground is?good vids, but your mic is horrible(probably cause you are behind the cam)
  2. i would want to see it go thru the test. i have heard that the benches for these are $$$, so not every garage has them(vast majority do not). i have been robbed my someone's "test" before(not on a VP44 tho).
  3. good videos. do you (or anyone else) have information such as part#'s or weight capacity? what brand were your greasables? what about that center supported bearing? i assume that you take the grease boot off and separate the 2 shafts? are there any shims there stock? i dropped the shaft for better access to the fuel tank when i installed my airdog. maybe they didn't go back in? i am trying to find and fix a vibration that is at low rpm. i can't tell if its rear tires or driveshaft problem thanks for the help
  4. what! being an okie, i take alot of the simple things for granted. our trailors don't have tags(expect 18wheelers), our cars don't have inspections, and we don't carry vehicle registrations(try explaining that to a cop in maryland, true story). the worst i have had locally was a cop saying i needed to have commercial auto insurance, but i got off cause the truck is registered in my "personal" name. i wish i new which box has my northern catalog, i remember 5k and 6k axles being reasonable. but i'm sure you will be fine just putputting around
  5. Sulphur, OK is the smelliest place. you can smell it in the air(and stuck to the back of my mouth). the first time i went thru there, it made me sick. why would people settle around that? --- Update to the previous post... walmart has 2 stroke for $11 a gallon. haven't used it in a while, since i've been buying B5 fuel
  6. don't you put that curse on me, Ricky Bobby!
  7. under the battery? thats a crappy place to put it. is it a body ground? do you mean its under the tray or can you see it from under the truck?
  8. on my hx35 i take the hose off the "boost elbow" and but >21PSI thru the hose. you can see the arm actuate and even if you cannot see it, you can hear the "click". if those slave drivers don't waste all my time today, i'll make a vid for you
  9. wouldn't that be a 1/6th of a degree(hopefully C) anyway i notice that mine was dirty(not blowby, just dust and dirt. i got i real close with my air hose and blew a lot of crap out with 90-100PSI. i also have flushed my coolant system recently(not quite 3 months yet). i didn't pull the radiator to save time. i used prestone antifreeze and used their flush in a bottle. my coolant temp used to set around 170, after changing that thermostat, it hangs out at 195
  10. https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhHyLR2_DBOgdGhnRFgxR210Y1BWeFRWekFEbG1ZM0E&hl=en the outdoor temp was 24*F when this file was made you can see that my IAT never read lower than 68 and was even at 86 while in the driveway warming up thats a 44+ difference!
  11. you need a super bright light under there. wow, my truck never smokes. maybe a little puff on a cold start. how did you "hold" the camera to the crossmember? duct tape? maybe i will give it a whirl
  12. was doing rotella ~5k after reading TDR's oil comparison(http://forum.mopar1973man.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=77), i use Valvoline Premium Blue. the one with the "C". its only $2 per gallon more than rotella or supertech i do not own a bypass. due to $ i've gone to 7k intervals
  13. anyone else have an opinion?
  14. of course they are going to say that. if they say anything else, they could be liable for damages.
  15. don't under estimate the cummins 4B/3.9 wholelotta torque
  16. so the best analogy is a multi-fuel motor? you have to read the chart as different fuel, same motor, to take out the 100s of variables. obviously, a motor designed for a certain fuel will be tailored to get the most power from that specific fuel(ie compression ratio, ignition type, etc)i love that your list includes electricity and hydrogen. notice the really low numbers. goes to show you exactly why carbon is king!
  17. it just goes to show you that the CNG that Chesapeake is trying to push on us isn't such an awesome fuel! sure you only pay $1.49. and where are you going to fill up at? hydrogen may be zero emissions, but its low on power and the emissions made to "making" hydrogen fuel can be even higher. no simple solutions...
  18. i only got the option to vote once, also. my truck will be rolling 200k this/next week.
  19. 7-9 gears and only one overdrive? ouch
  20. there is also this write up for my 1999 Dodge. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/1911-Starter-contact-write-up shows all tools needed in first pic. i also bought LarryB's contacts.
  21. if air is entering the fuel system, then yes. when i noticed that i was having longer than normal starts, air was entering the system. the plug on my tapped 90*(vulcan big line kit) at the vp44 had worked itself slightly loose(but was still way more than hand tight). after i tightened it up my starting times were back to normal.
  22. is it the same 3 cylinders firing over and over, or does it rotate which 3?
  23. i don't know. oreilly's was the cheapest. they are REMANUFACTURED but have a lifetime warranty. it is a CARDONE box i believe. the hardest part of that gearbox swap was getting the pitman arm off the old box! :banghead:
  24. the placement of the probes is the kicker. obviously, if its anywhere near the exhaust, the experiment would be biased. i was thinking 1 in the box/BHAF, 1 between box/BHAF and battery, AND monitor the IAT sensor. would love to see the results. might do it myself, if i ever get paid
