I have a miss as far as I can determine it is #6 cyl. I have eliminated the injection pump (VP44) because I can open all the fuel lines(short of #2,because of the intake) that make a difference in the RPM's (other words 2 cyls missing)except for #6 which has fuel being delivered, thus I have eliminated the VP44,I guess I need too make sure the valve's are opening correctly(which I thought I already did,but need double check)I have had the Injectors cleaned and set for proper pop pressure here at Diesel Specialties,No codes, so I know that I need to pull the head(not what I want to do) unless someone has another suggestion.

I have 2 issues with my truck. Some times my idle lopes from 800 to 900 rpm. This issue seems like not a big deal but maybe points to the other issue of a miss at idle and at speed. The lope issue seems to be only while the truck is getting up to temperature and it is inconsistent. The second issue is the truck develops a miss as it warms. I have isolated it to cyc 3 and 4 by using a snap on code reader /scanner. My son thinks I have a couple of leaking injectors or possibly crossover tubes. Truck gets good mileage 14 in town and over 20 on the road at 70.Truck information ; 180 k miles 3/4 ton 4x4 5 speed. Fairly new injection pump 20 pounds pressure at idle. Some black sm…

Was wondering why my 99 Cummins is SO much louder than my buddy's 07? Is it better insulation inside the newer truck or is the engine actually quieter? Thanks

A little while ago i posted about an engine knocking/pulsating sound. I changed injectors and adjusted valves and the noise is still there. The engine is definitely more rattly since I first got the truck 6 years ago. I also got an oil test and everything came back ABOVE average. Has the same amount of blowby as it always had at operating temp. Where do I go from here after doing all of this? Is there an engine condition that wouldn't show up on an oil test? Can an injection pump thats going out cause noises? Where do I go from here? Video below to hear what you guys think. 20190713_105753.mp4

I noticed an oil leak that came from coolant overflow tank, mechanic says oil cooler ruptured and both systems are contaminated and I have "sludge" in both systems. How did my engine get torpedoed by a non maintenance part, I don't understand???!! Planning on getting my engine rebuilt and would appreciate any input on modifications for a VP 44/NV5600 truck engine rebuild. I'm adding Hamilton cam, harmonic balancer, Cold Case radiator, BHAF, FASS 165 heated, fire ring head, custom injectors Anyone used a DPS Turbonator VGT (s300 & s400)?? Seem very cool, but a king's ransom. Have: Intake manifold plate PDI exhaust manifold 3 piece…

Could I ask a huge favor from someone. I would like a picture of the inside of the gear case and where all the bolts are without the cam and pump gear in the way. My oil leak is on the rear side of the gear case and running down to the corner of the pan and blowing back. I'm looking at options to tighten all the bolts and see though. Or loosening all the bolts and separate a little and get a small bead of silicone behind the edge. Either way it leaking engine oil pretty good in 15 miles its got oil splattered all the way to the transfer case.

'01 2500 Buddy bought the truck from our company. He thought it had a leaky pan gasket. It threw down a good puddle last night in the shop. It's coming from the vicinity of the oil line on the vacuum pump where it goes into the block. I replaced the seal in the pump 2 years ago and it doesn't seem to be leaking from there. I didn't have time to put a wrench on it so I'm hoping it's just a loose fitting- but it doesn't look it's coming from the fitting or the hose. You can see a nice clean strip down the block underneath it. Anyone else run into a leak in this area? He just had the head gasket done but it was leaking before …

I bought this 2001 dodge ram 2500 quad cab 4 x 4 with a 5.9L Cummins diesel for $500 and I have already put thousands of dollars into it, so I’m glad I didn’t pay more. I received the truck as is, and it would start and idle, but when you push the gas it only has one speed, which is 1400 RPM no matter how much pedal you give it and my odometer is displaying a “no bus”error, however all of my gauges do work. The truck had an adrenaline tuner on it, which I verified with the company that it was bad, so I pulled it all off. I have a compound turbo set up, and they spin and the impellers appear tight and no leaks in the boots. I have 120 hp injectors installed and studded hea…

As some of you here know I have had a over cooling condition in my truck for quite a while. It seems to be getting worse. No matter what tstat i am using now the temp is hard pressed to get over 175 and will drop to 155 but seems to stay just below 170 most of the time. This is in 70 weather, in town or high way and with 2 of my winter fronts in place. I am on my 7th tstat with the same results. I even sent one of them to Mike and it runs fine for him. After 6 190* tstats and one cummins 180* tstat with almost the same results with them all I am at my wits end. I have also replaced the temp sender twice and no differance. I am wondering has anyone else here had this probl…

Well. I went to pass a Sunday driver going up a hill. Doing 50 in a 65 .. i passed him up got on the throttle a bit a she just kept taking off until I was able to slam the throttle few times.... it could have been real ugly because I came real close to rear ending few cars and it's raining. I did notice today the Trans searching for overdrive or whatever gear... just jumping in and out . Also my data console up above the rear view said CCD.. last week I reset the APPS wich helped my shifts a lot smoother and made a huge driveability difference. .. i need help on this fellas. I have the $$ to fix it right the first time. That's it.. thanks in advance. …

So, for the last few weeks my truck seems to be louder than normal. Almost sounds like a knocking but only hear it in lower RPM limits (less 1200 rpm). I don't know if its just me or not. I don't have any CEL on or any codes that I can see with my Bluetooth OBD2 scanner. I don't see any smoke and the truck runs good. I did start getting diesel at a different station (Chevron instead of Fred Meyer). Could it be a difference in diesel? Could it be colder weather? It does it with the Quad at 0, 2, 3 or up. It does it with the daily tune and the performance tune. I can really notice it at cruise with light throttle. Any suggestions. This is my first winter with th…

Okay guys I'm new to the forum here and I need some help. I have a 1999 24v and on my way to work the other day my truck died on me and completely shut off in the middle of the road. It didnt have any weird symptoms before this happened it just died and now will not restart. Any ideas as to what this could be or where I could begin trouble shooting this?

I am working on my brothers 1999 Dodge doollie, 3500 extended cab with the 24 valve Cummins Turbo Diesel. When you turn the headlights on it kills the engine. The problem is sporadic and will come and go. I pull the ASD relay and the engine will run with the headlights on, after a while, maybe five minutes it will kill the engine, when you turn the headlights back on. I have replaced both the ASD and Fuel pump relays. I also have .5 amp discharge from the battery, which I tried to track down by pulling circuit fuses, one at a time. I did not find it. I believe I have a bad ground somewhere but can't find the link between killing the fuel pump (engine dies) and the headlig…

PCM is not energizing the C3 pin 25 blue wire that controls the ac clutch, generator field or trans relay. Had a p1693 “DTC detected in companion module” and no communication with transmission. Had power and ground to pcm so I swapped with a known good PCM but no change. Cleaned all harness connectors and replaced the CKP sensor and CMP sensor. Checked pin 45 on the ecm and there wasn’t + voltage but there there was a ground signal that was all over the place before the meter finally settled at 8-9 volts. Is this supposed to be a pulsing ground or a solid signal? And should it be + voltage? Also how does the ecm ground itself? Maybe a bad ground connection on the ecm?

Was sitting at idle in the parking lot before shutting off the engine. I noticed a squeak under the hood, I know my serpentine belt was squealing a week ago after hitting a big puddle and thought that was the case, so I popped the hood and had a listen and it's not coming from the belt. It's loudest on the driver's side around the valve cover. Is there anything under the valve cover that would make a squeaking noise, injectors, valve springs, could it possibly be the vp44? I don't notice anymore smoke than usual, loss of power, and there's no blow by

Anybody got a turbo timer installed on their truck to prevent from cooking the oil at shutdown? Don't really like having to sit there for a minute or two before shutting her down....or am I the only one doing this?
