  1. For starters Ive done a lot of reading and testing different parts. Im at a stand still and I dont want to be a parts changer..I bought a 02 3500 4x4 6 speed cummins 4.10 gears with 270k miles a week ago. All stock except for k&n intake and straight piped. I am experiencing a few problems. I noticed that the heat was barly warm. With a hint of antifreeze smell with blower on and selected on warm. So first problem is heater core. Ive driven the truck around town 55-60 mph. Coolant temp stays around 190 degrees. Once I hit the interstate at 70-75 with the 4.10 gears im turning about 2300-2400 rpm. The coolant temp starts to climb as the speed increase. Upwards of 2…

lost injection pump at 129,000, bought special x from blue chip, installed with no problems, fired it up and idled perfect, let it warm up and took for a test drive and it was cutting out at all rpms except at idle. now when i say cutting out it would just die for a milisecond and come right back, perty violently. called chip and he said it is a apps problem cause it doesnt do it at idle, only when the apps goes into closed loop. he suggested i check the connections, i did and they were all good. problem went away i thought until i took it on a 400 mile trip and it did it about 20 times cruising at 75 mph. next day no problem again. about 2 weeks go by and it is back at a…

There's something under the hood of my truck that doesn't like the heat. During spring I never had any problems, as it started to warm up symptoms got more frequent, and now that the temps are nearing 100° I can only drive for about an hour and the ecm shuts off. If I wait for about a half hour it will come back on again. The ignition system is working because my volt gauge works, and the truck turns over, but the fuel pump and my trans cooler fan that is also controlled by ecm power doesn't run. Any ideas where to start?

Looks like I hashed my engine. I'm not finding many good used ones, so considering a reman unit. Are there any decent reman companies out there? Checked Jasper and their prices are pretty high. I really can't justify $10k to put an engine in a 20 year old truck that's only worth about $10k......

i have the wonderful 53 block with 17 inch crack.. so i bought a 2002 bluebird bus for the engine its a 56 block.. my problem is we swapped the 2001 dodge cummins out and installed the 2002 industrial cummins from the bus, we installed all of the dodge injectors, the computer injection pump, vac pump, power steering pump, now the dodge didnt have a crank position sensor but the bus did, both have cam position sensors.. now we have it running runs pretty good, but tach only works for 2 or 3 seconds then zeros out, i get a code for cam position sensor have changed it with 1 from the dodge truck and does the same thing check wiring looks ok worked great with 53 block just a…

Hello all, so here's the deal. I'm building my dream truck out of basically two trucks. What I will have left will be a 96 3500 roller and a 98.5 24 valve with a 47RE behind it. Does anyone know what kind of wiring problems I will have, to make it run and shift? I do have the 98.5 computer. Is the main harness at least close to the same or, will I have to make a copy of the 98.5 harness? I do have it but I plan on using it in the 98.5 truck, which I plan to keep. The 96 started out life with an NV4500.

When I did my valve lash adjustment I did not have a barring tool so I used the alternate method to turn the engine backwards using a ratchet and socket on the alternator... Here is my question/comment... I turned engine till I got TDC (everything was nice and smooth and quiet) did the valve adjustments then started turning engine to get to BDC... while I was turning everything was smooth and quiet and all of a sudden I start to hear a clicking noise every time I would turn over the engine... the sound persisted for about 5 or 6 turns on the rachet and then stopped... I never heard it again after that... It noise/clicking sounded like it was coming from the aft…

hey guys i dont no if you all remember my post bout my 2002 24 valve with the weird miss in it but just thought i would let you all no what was wrong with it. ok so the truck ended up blowing out the head gasket between 5 and 6 and on top of that the aftermarket head gasket i put on the truck not even 11,000 miles ago took number 5 piston out with it so in short the motor gets a over haul at just 154,289. thanks for everybodys help.

What’s going on guys? So as per my last topic the vp44 was my issue for whatever reason my edge wasn’t allowing my ecu to throw any dtc after figuring that out I found the p1628 or whatever the vp death code is can’t remember off the top of my head. Alright, replaced the pump with a reman vp44 from xdp and new fuel filters. Got the truck primed and she took off. Ran for about a day or so and then boom no fuel to the injectors again. Even though I do not like doing it I tried anyways I gave it a breath of ether and cracked the injector lines and still no fuel. Okay fine play hard. Towed the truck home and figured I’d call xdp and ask for my warranty (mind you this pump is…

  12. Hey guys,I'm new on here but I have a question that I haven't been able to find a good answer for. When I first crank my truck it is hard to start whether hot or cold. When it does crank it idles fine. After driving maybe 5-10 miles and stopping at a red light the idle becomes real choppy. If I shut it off, it will fire up normally and idle just fine, but 5-10 miles down the road the same thing happens again. I have a fuel pressure gauge and for some reason when I was pulling a load it jumped around and then stuck maxed out. Every now and then it will jump around but I never get a normal reading like I did when I first put it on. I do not have a snubber or needle valve on…

Hello all, I'm new to the site/forum and thought I would introduce myself and get right in to the mix.My name is Ron, I'm from CA, and I love to put cummins motors in trucks they didn't belong in.I have a complete donor 2001 cummins 24 valve. I actually have the whole truck. I put the engine, trans, and transfer case in a 2001 Chevy 3500HD. My question is, im doing the wiring right now and I have the truck runningbut i have absolutely no throttle at all. idle only. im wiring from the c130 connector and im using the factory ecm and pcm for the 24v. i have a light green/black wire that in my schematic needs 12v in start run position. But when I hook it up to switched power t…

Been having a noise randomly. Drained the T- case today and found this. Any idea wear it could be before I split it. It's coming apart either way, just not sure it'll be tonight.

On a second note, who ever was in there before used alot of rtv, and the pick up was pretty much clogged with it.??

  17. I read a while ago someone used a different valve stem seal to try and make them stay on the guide better or seal better can't quite remember which and who it was. Question 1. What is the valve stem size on a 24v Question 2. What is the guide diameter where the stem seal sits The reason for the 2 questions is I'm right now repairing a Perkins (POS) 4.4 RJ build in a JCB 416 loading shovel that the tip of number 3 injector dropped off, only the very tip below the injector holes so very small and luckily it imbedded straight away into the piston and did not go through a exhaust valve. This has been ongoing for about a month…

I notice reading through the forum that the Adrenaline seems to be top dog again, I bought one when they first came out for my now gone 99 2500, had a few problems like the fuel sensor just blasted out when I was driving and then they got recalled, then I had other programming problems and then the word was they where going out of business. I wasted the Auto in the truck so it did pull well and had good top end. So then I bought a Smarty (for timing) and added a TST 3 for my fueling on my current truck and it works well but it is 2 different units and I have not really paid attention for a few years and like I said I see the Adrenaline is real popular again just curios i…
