I want to preface this by saying I have gone to all the local auto parts stores looking for a map sensor and had to order one. But last night, I was wondering what the best way to get the map sensor looks like it is too thin to get a socket into, and I couldn't finagle a wrench onto the head. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Pulled some lightly used 50HP DDP injectors (<10K) from my truck. These were pricey as all DDP injectors are ($900K ) and they performed well. Is there a market to sell these?

For those of you who have been following my frustrations with a massive oil leak from my 2000 4wd, 1 tn, auto, flatbed Ram, you will be happy to know that I finally got the problem solved. As the problem and its solution are, I believe, somewhat unique, I thought that I should post my experiences here on the Forum for all of you to get a chuckle. My problem developed a couple of months ago as when returning from a cross country trip the truck started losing massive amounts of oil. The entire under carriage of the Ram and even the car trailer I was towing was covered in oil. I was using about a gallon of oil every 100 miles. Anyway I pulled into a diesel shop in…

Does anyone have access to the software that the dealer uses to view exploded parts diagrams & part numbers for our trucks? Or is there anything out there that allows us to do this? Thanks!

Hi All, longtime reader, first time poster. Most of my build is a recipe from here and other parts of the community, so thanks. Finally thought Id join and contribute because Im spinning wheels in my head more than the truck on this issue. Also see if I can help contribute to other headaches too. Issue relates to not achieving max boost out of the turbo, unless the wastegate is pinched. I dont see any boost leaks, and have plenty of fuel, more later. in case sig doesn't appear or post. (Only listing relevant items) 2001 24v, S&B cai, banks monster ram, afe bladerunner, headstuds, hamilton valves and rods, DFI 7x.010, BD exhaust…

I was having some lower fuel pressure with my fuel boss: 16 idle and down to 10 full throttle. So I added a couple shims to the return valve and now I'm at 22 idle 17 full throttle. Contemplating taking a shim out, is that pressure too high? Thanks

My wastegate is apparently stuck shut. For a long time I was trowing overboost codes and defeuling. Then I out a XZT on it and no longer worried about it. The boost fooler in the XZT made the sticking wastegate work to my advantage. Well now it appears that the wastegate is not doing anything anymore and I have bounced of of 30 lbs. of boost a couple of times. I don't know how far the fooler goes or if it totally cuts out the defuel and codes. I do not want to be blowing the head gaskets out.Rick

Ok so since I'm on my second ISSPRO gauge in this truck, I've been paying extra attention to it and the FASS. Well I've noticed a couple things and just wanted to clear the air. I don't think anything a wrong but just wanted to get some extra input before I moved on to worrying about the next thing. Currently have less then 1/4 tank so keep that in mind... If/when I bump the starter, the FASS will run/prime but I don't see any fuel pressure build on my gauge. Once I finally start it takes 5+ seconds before it shows any readings which end up between 16-18 at any given point. - Anything to worry about here? While driving I noticed r…

So does anyone own one of these or know someone who owns one of these? OR, has anyone seen anyone else with one of these? I wonder how well they perform and do their job as they should? I think that the drawback is that it has to be under the engine like it is to be driven by a belt from the harmonic balancer... http://store.dieseltruckresource.com/9fubomelipus.html

I have been looking for a replacement lift pump and am leaning towards a mechanical pump. Are there any major differences between the Fuel Boss and the Predator? Anything that makes one so much better than the other such as quality of parts, kit completeness, customer service, etc? This will be going on the truck in my signature plumbed in with the stock filter for now. Im trying to build a reliable low maintenance driver/tow truck, not some high hp toy. Thanks for any opinions/experience that you can provide.

Need some opinions on gauges. Before I joined this forum I put Glow shift gauges and a 3 gauge pillar pod on my 02 After reading many of the members comments I was sorry that I got them.I've nothing but trouble with them, Thermocouples going bad, sensor going, out irratic fuel pressure readings.I've been seriously thinking about chucking the them and getting ISSPRO or Auto meter mechanical gauges to re place them.Any reason I should think about electronic gauges.DAP has a special on ISSPRO gauges ?

My stock alternator is finally starting to go south and i have been looking at replacing it with a higher amp part. Anyone have any 1st hand experience with the Mechman 320 amp alternators? Its expensive at $500 with a 2 year warranty. They have a 240 amp alt for $400 but with my stereo and all the other electric crap I've added the 320 fits my needs better.

So I was coming home from being stateside late last nite bored, (just under 2000 miles in 2 days), and tired and ended up in a race , just to amuse myself, with a little foreign sports car of some sort. After impressing myself with atop gps speed of 121mph, I slowed back down to my cruising speed of around 77mph. About 5 minutes after the run, I pulled into a coffee shop for 5 minutes and when I started my truck, it had a knocking noise in engine. Drove another 150 miles to home, never got any worse. No bass pressure, no filings in bass, besides the noise, it's working perfect. It sounds louder on driver side close to half way. Gonna pull her apart on Monday. What do y…

On the way into work my check engine light came on then turned off and I saw that the alternator voltage was low, around 12.5v or so. I tested it running at work and it was about ~12.5v. I then noticed that the positive battery terminal has melted on the cable coming straight from the alternator. Would an alternator going out cause this? Bad connection? Low battery electrolytes Any ideas? The alternator has never been replaced. Thanks!

Met up with jonathan1950 today. He was in town on vacation. We spent over 3 hours talking about trucks. He did the nv4500 swap and is a big advocate of it for effort vs payoff. In looking for a donor truck...what age/models will work? V10, V8? I have a 24 vavle 2001.5. Seems like V8, V10's should open up my options a lot. Can I get my PCM flashed to turn it into manual transmission? Thanks Jonathan for meeting up with me. Great info and truck!

Hard to quantify making a post and didn't think about taking pic at the time. Saw several slivers stuck to magnet when changing diff fluid. Size was about diameter of sewing thread and .25 to .50 inch long. Probably 20-25 total. Almost 90,000 miles (total) and 30,000 since last fluid change five years ago. 3/4 ton and most of miles towing 8-9k trailer. Only difference this change from past is now have air bags. Normal or abnormal? If abnormal, what is next step?

I`ve been studying these methanol injection kits. They claim substancial HP gains, along with cooler intake temps, and 200-300 degree cooler EGT`s Anybody have any thoughts on them?
