Hello to the good people of mopar1973man.com! I am very new to this site as far as having a account but have been a avid "user" for some time now. I figured it may be time to settle in after the site change. Looking forward to helping where i can and learning a few things aswel! Anyways, on to whats fun and exciting Please allow me to unravel my situation. I have a 1998.5 Dodge ram 2500 5spd 4x4 (vp44, vin 6) that is throwing one ecu code. P0123. I have read the write up on mopar1973man.com regarding this code. The resulting symptoms consisted of dead pedal, intermitent throttle response, the truck reving on its own only when i touch the throttle. I have scoured the …

I own a 2002 ram 2500 6 speed with the HO cummins, 145k, recently i was pulling my equipment trailer and upon taking off from a stop sign had what felt to be a dead pedal/poor throttle response, taking 2x-3x as long to get up to around 2000rpm than it normally would. Slight bucking would occur but more of the issue is the slow throttle response. No matter where the pedal position is, there is no change in throttle response, its just a matter of slowly building rpms. Even though the throttle response is slow, the truck will get up to 3500rpm. I did have a garage do a diagnostic on it and they claimed fuel pressure from the lift pump was sufficient. There is no excess ex…

My parents are looking to replace the steering box on their 2000 Powerstroke Excursion. There's only 110K on the dang thing, but it steers worse than my truck with 205K. I know it's a Cummins Forum, but it's basically the same box and I would ask the exact same thing if I were replacing the one in my truck. So, what say you? I've read good about both, of course a couple bad about both but it looks like the blue top is cheaper than the redhead.

Upgrading your diesel. In order to upgrade your diesel from stock, you should have a baseline of readings in order to know what has changed. Also, if you do multiple upgrades at one time and something goes wrong, you will not know which upgrade caused the problem or error code. In order to know what is happening to the engine, you should have at the minimum compliment of aftermarket gauges. At the minimum for Dodges, you need a fuel pressure gauge, boost gauge, and EGT gauge. Those with automatic transmissions should also have a transmission temperature gauge. With these gauges and a stock engine you will proceed to gather information as to how well the engine…

2000 24v built trans, good hd torque converter, 40hp injectors, new IP, new FASS. Dies from park to reverse or forward gears, dies from reverse to forward or forward to reverse. Just had my PCM and ECM updated to the newest file. It's driving me nuts. Seems to be idling 50-75rpm too low. I try to move my trailer, it does. I love around a parking lot it dies. Happens at least 80% of the time. Anybody? I really like this truck...except this problem. Some people have said the torque converter is too tight.....not sure that's a thing or not. PLEASE HELP!!

My fuel pressure kept going up and down. The adjustment "jam" nut (9/16) I can turn but the nut behind it (3/4") also moves. Can't get wrench on it because of bracket is blocking wrenching room. I ground down an old wrench, still not enough room for both wrenches. Problem is created because I turned the airdog 180 so I could use old fass bracket without drilling new/more holes. Question...if I hang pump on fence and suck fuel out of bucket to set pressure will pressure be the same when hooked up to vp44? Thought I would bend over vinyl hose to create back pressure. I don't want to keep taking pump off and on...thought hanging on fence …

So, when back in my home town on some R&R/family time, I decided to do a simple quick, 5 sec burnout just for kicks and grins... right in front of my folks place just like old times. The turbo began to spool all normal, and BANG, followed by some minor crunchy sounds. No pictures as of yet, but upon removing what used to be the cap on the axle, out fell several one inch triangles of axle, metal chips, and the bearing adjusting nut that formerly held the bearings. Near as I can tell, the axle broke and wedged itself in there and pushed the hub off about a half inch or so, breaking the nut as it came off. The hub won't even come off as the b…

Do new fan clutches need time to "break in?" I got a new one Sunday night and it still hasn't unlocked by today so I took it back and got another. The new one hasn't unlocked today either so I'm not sure if I just need to give it some time or go get another.

Installing a new deep oil pan and filter decided to replace all the solenoid and the 3/4 spring. I want to install the new overdrive and tcc solenoid without removing the valve body. Can this be done if I just remove the zip ties and reuse the original harness? Or am I missing something?

Ok, I did this 3 weeks ago so I am just finally getting around to doing my write up. I know people have concerns with the airdog/raptor issues, but hey, somebody has to see if they are fixed. I have no concerns about these pumps, as I have never had any problems getting warranty on customers raptors. Also, I have an electronic gauge as well as a quick release fitting for a mechanical gauge to check pressure whenever I need to.First things first here are the partsAirdog and hardwareHere is the sump kit by Bean's dieselFirst thing I did was drain the tank through the fuel filter housing drain into 5 gallon buckets and jumping out the lift pump wires to control the flow. Here…

After all these years of service my AirDog as of today blew the fuse and drop the fuel pressure to ZERO. ISSPro Gauge lit the low pressure light just as I drove out of the yard. I shut down the engine the truck bump the starter to see if the pump comes on. Nope. Get back in the yard and check the fuse. 20 amp fuse blew. With it in the shop now I replaced the fuse and just bumped the starter. The pump came on and sounded rather rough. Lasted about 60 second and went quiet with a snap under the hood. Fuse blew again. I've already call Pureflow to see if I can get parts and it might be difficult being the serial number tag fell off long ago. I'm going to see if I can repair …

Truck: 1999 2500 Quadcab NV 4500 300,000 miles. What happened: I was driving to work and everything was fine until I pulled up to a red light then my truck could barely hold a very unsteady idle. CEL came on. Pulled off road and had it towed to my work. Pulled following codes: P0251 Injection pump fuel valve feedback P0252 Injection pump fuel valve stuck P1688 VP44 Fuel Injection Pump Module Internmal membory or A/D error P1693 Fault in companion module P0122 TPS sensor 1 circuit low P1682 charge system output low Some of these were probably very old, I can't remember the last time I did a scan. I should …

Was hoping to get some insite here. My truck wanders all over as If I was truck. It is amazing I havent been pulled over yet. It makes you tired driving on a trip as you are constantly trying to compensate to keep the truck going straight. Its not like a steering wheel play problem but it acts in a similar way. Today I put the new Borgeson steering box on, no help. I have run the tires at 35, 50 and 60, no better.I have new moog ball joints, and track bar, new tires, alignment. My truck has 60,000 miles. It is a 2001 2500 SLT 4 x 4. It does have the big ARB bumper and large winch. Also, it has new front shocks. Any ideas? Mark

Alright, need some help here before I take a sledgehammer to it. A few months ago I had to replace my power steering pump. I figured since I was going to pull the vacuum pump anyway, I might as well be on the safe side and clean, inspect, and replace the o-rings even though it wasn't leaking. I've now put three sets of o-rings on this pump and I'll be @#$%ed if it isn't leaking again. I make my living as a mechanic but I may need to think about a career change. The first two sets of o-rings were from Gould. A buddy had bought it but ended up selling the truck so he gave it me. I followed the instructions exactly and torqued everything to spec. First time, leaked between t…
