Manufacturer recommends oil to be changed at the 7,500 mile interval along with other things. I've heard of people going to the full 7,500 and some won't even go past 3,000.I know it's a dumb question to be asking but, I can only come up with 2 conclusions to this.3,000 miles can be pretty costly but, increases engine life as it's being flushed out with new oil. I guess those who can afford will do this.7,500 will be more cost effective in the long run but, you have just doubled the contaminants introduced into the system by doing it at this time. We all know that oil serves us 4 purposes, and that is, seal, cool, lubricate, and clean. Only makes sense that all four of th…

Hi everyone my name is Andrew and I'm brand new to the forum. I was hoping you could help me with my ECM problem. I have no idea what caused my ECM to fail.. Is this a common issue? Do I just replace it and cross my fingers or do I need to investigate further? The truck ran just fine until I pulled in my driveway (luckily) and it died. I had it checked out and was told the microprocessor fried and the ECM is deemed unrepairable.. Since I can't buy a new one (discontinued) do I buy a used one with no warrantee or do I get a reman unit? If reman who do you recommend? I've called a handful of remans companies and every place seems very shad…

This week I've had a few times where I'm doing around 65mph on the highway and I hit the pedal to accelerate, and nothing happens. The engine sound might change a tiny bit but I can't accelerate at all. if I mash or get off the pedal and back on it doesn't let me go any faster. Quadzilla doesn't show anything strange, except that my throttle position changes with the pedal push. If I downshift for a sec and then go back into 6th everything is fine. Today I pulled the codes for the first time and got P0216. I'll have to check and see if it comes back. There was one odd thing 2 weeks ago when I changed the fuel filter, the next day it took about 6s to start vs the near inst…

So I have a ram 2500 diesel cummins 24v. Over the past couple years I have been having issues with a ghost fault that I just cannot seem to fix. I have codes 1693, 0500 and 0122... What I get is cut out and surging normally between 30 and 45mph... I took it in and the shop said map sensor so it was replaced... the Apps sensor was replaced, the injection pump was replaced and the lift pump was replaced. Fuel pressure is good and fuel filter was just changed today. The shop also said I had a jacked up MPG tuner of which I did not put on (PO)... the chip is fully disconnected as well so it is currently running stock... What I get is at 30-45mph under moderate load the turbo …

Hey, ive got a 2001.5 2500, 6-speed truck. intermittently my tach/oil press/water temp gauges will stop working. Typically when this happens my engine also has a quick “kick” to it like it shuts off and jumps right back on. I never get the “nobus” message on my cluster. if I check my codes I have p1693, p1694, p1698. Also randomly a p0501 code and ABS light. I replaced my ECM for this issue 1-2 years ago but it didn’t change anything, but I used a reman one so not sure if it’s quality. The issue never went away though. was hoping someone could help guide me through what wiring to check, or really just help me det…

So Im in the middle of swapping back to the HY while I rebuild the HX and the sun caught the back of the block just right and I see this. I'm guessing it's the head gasket. Agree?

My Airdog 150 quit working yesterday. After checking it out I found that the pump is working fine if I jump 12 volts straight to it, which leaves me at a relay or wiring problem. Does anyone know the part number of the relay I need? Any other suggestions would also be welcomed. I really hate wiring problems!:banghead:

Anyone have any experience with this product? http://www.thetunnelram.com/ does it do what it claims, more even air flow to cyl, better mileage, cooler egt's and cyl temps? Is it worth the money? Does anyone have one and can answer definitively the above questions.

I have a 1999 cummins. Once the engine has already been warmed up if I go to start it sometimes it starts a very lopey idle, which stumbles on for a few seconds and then dies. I was showing a bad tps error code. I have replaced that and no longer have the check engine light on. My wait to start light sometimes takes a while to come on, but that has been that way for several years. I have a FASS lift pump installed and I can hear it running. After sitting for a few hours to cool it will start up. Help please

Hello y'all I have a 99 5.9l 2wd 5spd man and the crank position sensor code is being thrown. I recently replaced this with an OEM part and after a few months the code is coming back. From what I understand this issue can be caused by a loose tone ring. However, I cannot find out the exact placement despite searching multiple times and places. Is the tone ring in the block and do I have to drop the oil pan to check and tighten it? The only other thing I am finding may be an issue is the ECM itself, if that is the case I will get rid of the truck at this point. Thank you for your assistance and any insight you may have. Ed

I just got this 99 Dodge Cummins QCSB 4x4 Laramie SLT with an auto transmission on November 24th, and I drove 640 miles round trip that day to trade my 99 GMC Sierra SLT 3 door lifted short box 4x4 for it. The 320 mile drive home was harsh with shitty 305/70R16 tires, worn out steering stabilizer shock, and cruise control not working. I did find out that the pickup has a Redhead steering box, BD Diesel Performance adjustable track bar setup, aftermarket boxed trailering arms, and a Skyjacker lift in it. It had no CEL or any other lights warning lights light up on the test drive at the car dealer's or on the drive home. The only light that stays on,…

Can someone tell me what size socket the pinion nut is on a 98.5 Dana 80 is? I have tried a 1 13/16 and it is a hair small and a 1 7/8 will not fit inside the yoke without grinding the outside of the socket. I am thinking it is metric? Maybe 47mm? Odd size not in most sets. Rick

I'm towing about 9k lb and truck slows down to 35-40 mph going up 6% grades. I went up the same hills in October at 55-60 mph with power to spare. Then I didn't drive it until March. I installed a new heater core (which has no bearing on this problem), a new crankshaft sensor, and a Fuel Boss pump with a new Airtex pump as a backup. I also washed my AME air filter. After doing all of this I did a test run towing a car on a flatbed trailer from Ontario, CA to San Diego with no problems, 60 mph all the way. My fuel pressure is 18-19 lbs @ idle and 20-21lbs @ 1800 rpm and above. my boost pressure is 26 psi @ 2800rpm and drops as the rpms go down. Any thoughts?

I was on my way to vist my brother today and while accelerating the clutch slipped in 5th. I realized my toe was on the clutch pedal and removed it right away and let off the throttle. Got back in the throttle(about 75%) and it slipped again. Did this 3 times in a row. Got done with my visit and took off to my daughter house. I had to drive across the mountains from Hickory nc to Johnson city Tn and never slipped the clutch once and I was trying to. The valair clutch is about 2.5 years old with about 65k on it. Anybody ever had this happen to them? It was strange,

In my down time lately I've been reading alot about injectors for the VP44 24 valve. Trying to learn and read reviews check prices and the like. I have looked through DAP and some others. Some look kind of "shady" or maybe that isn't the term but for whatever reason I didn't trust what they were saying. One on the other hand one seems to make some sense, Dynamite Diesel. All I know about this company is what I saw and read on their site and reviews of their products. I was just wondering if anyone has used their injectors? I did notice however that their prices are nearly double compared to DAP so I'm also curious as to whether or not it's worth it. .I'm not t…

Anybody got any input as far as these HE351W Turbo's as far as performance in low/mid range RPMs vs other upgrade Turbos This is a pretty much direct drop in Turbo, Just need to "Clock" the Compressor cover, plus my Pacbrake will bolt up to it. https://shop.dieseltuff.com/HE351W-19915-2002-Turbocharger-New-Outright-No-Core-HE351W.htm

So It's been 8 yrs since it's run some my memory it a little foggy, anyway when I turn key to on Oil pressure gauge goes up to 40psi, Tap starter it goes back down, this correct? Obviously I don't know what it will when actually started, Sure I'll have oil pressure just don't want to backtrack any on any wiring.

Hey guys, first post! Stoked to be here. Anyways... I bought my truck about 2 months ago and it came with a built trans from Hartnell transmission in Redding. I proceeded to snap the Billet input shaft Which was obviously defective, and this was repaired under warranty that was thankfully transferred to me. They replaced the converter, pump, put in an Aermet shaft that I paid for, and cleaned out the rest of the trans. While the trans was out I had them put in a billet accumulator and 2nd gear servo, 4.2 ratio lever and billet anchor and strut (TCS combo kit). Before this work, the trans shifted great. Now that it’s back in, the 1-2 shift is super fast, near instant and v…
