Just noticed today that the oil pressure is way high while driving and not really moving even upon reaching operating temperature. Driving pressure at low throttle is 60-70 at full temp. and idling is right around 60. Here's the gauge, full operating temp. while idling... Even before starting, the gauge shows 40, then after start up right to the 60-70 mark and doesn't move much. I'm hoping this is just the sending unit and not a bearing or electrical problem. Any insights? Thank you ps...I know I have oil pressure because I didn't tighten the turbo oil return line enough and it was leaking, I tightened a couple days ago and no more leaks.

Last year I got my tranny completely rebuilt, our local tranny specialist put everything heavy duty and it never performed too good it seemed like the shifting was sluggish from 1st to 2nd and now 9000K later the tranny let go again he pulled it apart and everything was wore out he replaced everything under warranty and he mentioned that the problem was the alternator, as anybody experience something similar?

I have read tid bits about putting 2 stroke oil in diesel fuel. What are the benefits? Lubricity? Fuel mpg? How much do you put in a 34 gallon tank? Is there a special type? Thanks!

  6. I have a 99 5.9 24 valve 2wd, auto..... My fuel pump is not powering on anymore, when the key is placed into the on position. With the fuel heater on my "On Position voltage is around 11.8 to 12.0 volts.....it has been around 45 in the mornings here, and my grid heater/s are cycling normally. My issue is that my fuel pump only starts running when I start the engine. There is no lag time, it starts normally and the grid heaters stop cycling after about 30 seconds plus or minus. I do not have any fuel leaks and am running 17 psi at idle as soon as both fuel pressure gauges (electric and mechanical) top out about 1 second give or take after it starts...... this is not wh…

I cranked up the truck this morning, and let it warm up a little, got back in the truck and the CEL was on and the tach was dead. P0336 was the code, so I was wondering if the sensor is only for the tach, or does it have another purpose? I think the Camshaft position sensor on the '01-'02's can leave you stranded, but I'm not sure if a crank sensor could? I searched for 20 minutes and couldn't find an answer. Also, the truck would stumble for a second and then the tach would come back, then a minute later it would stumble and the tach would die. After a while the tach was fine, and the CEL was staying on. I tried erasing the codes, but it wouldn't let me. After an aft…

  8. I recently fried my second ECM. It died in the same way as the last one. Stumbled will cruising around town and then died completely. It felt like the lift pump failed but the VP44 kept trying for a bit and then it stopped too. After getting it towed home I could get both the Fass lift pump and the injection pump to run (and the truck to idle) by bypassing the ecm but got no voltage signals from ecm to either lift pump or injection pump when trying to start the truck with e dry thing wired normally. After reading the article here by IBM mobile about proper lift pump wiring, I believe the ecm failed because the relay that was used in the lift pump wiring didn’t…

  9. Ok gang! Going to make this as simple as possible. On another forum everyone is now believing that 5 psi is a good fuel pressure to run. This is being said by a supplier that sells VP pumps. Although the Dodge service manual says 10 psi is the minimum. I have recently had correspondence with Cummins on this topic and they say "10 psi is the minimum" for the engine. I want you all to know I run 17 psi and am HAPPY with this pressure. What do you feel is the proper pressure to run?

Hello every one. I'm new to this sit and have a 2000 quad cab 2500 4x4 8ft bed, 24v cummins whit automatic transmission I thing it's 4 shifter (sorry i'm new whit this kind of transmission)** & all stock except lift pump which is last week went out and I change it to DRRP02 FASS 110 GPH,other than that untouched truck, anyway, I've to get the RPM over 2k or 22k till shift to the upper and only on the highway goes to 4th and O/D otherwise just only 2 shift. is it normal? I fell engine is under the presser and need the another gear or shift so. In the city with 1500 or 1800 RPM still stays on 2nd shift at 40 to 45 MPH I think is something wrong with it by the way i…

Hey guys first time poster over here. I was fairly active on cumminsforum years ago, but then life got in the way. I've owned my 2002 2500 for about 8+ years now and it has just over 111,000 miles. I had a company vehicle until I switched jobs in June of this year and now I'm dependant on my truck. Long story short is last week on my drive home it just shut off on me like someone flipped a switch. It took a couple times cycling the key back and forth until it would start because I quickly realized that the lift pump was not priming and it wouldn't start. Well it did the the rest of my drive back home (about 5 more times) and has been parked ever since. To be clear once i…

I'm getting payed pretty good to build a dump truck. My truck runs prett toasty pulling grades when heavy. Empty wich it is 99% of the time fine. Running smarty on 9 3 3 7x09 smoky doesnt matter where smarty is set.. Was thinking head studs turbo and 3peice bd manifold in one wack. 7x10 injectors later. What gateless turbos are available? I've looked alittle and see delete plates but no turbos built gateless. My turbo hy35 is making a fluttering sound lately that's a new sound. Might be rubbing the wheel. Or should I love with the higer temps and get some .320 injectors to possibly clean up smoke . Would my temps go up I'd bump u…

hey guys, i have an airdog 2 150 gph pump on my truck. yesterday when driving my fuel pressure all of a sudden hit 0 and i continued to drive home because it wasnt acting funny. when i shut it off and turned key back to run position, the pump wont kick on. ive tried everything i can think of. i traced the ground and hot wires as good as i could without a test light. i made sure they had good clean connection. (dropped my test light on the walk from the building to the truck and broke it of course) i couldnt test the relays, and dont even know where to begin and what to begin looking at because i did not hook this pump up. i dont know which relays or fuses or whate…

  14. Everything you wanted to know about the VP44 Injection Pump but were afraid to ask. I don't know if these guys do rebuilds or what but he knows his way around the pump:

So ever since I had the drop in fuel pressure which I have not mechanically tested yet my fuel economy has steadily went down since then. Have not had the chance to hand calculate yet but lie o meter says it went from 16.8 to 14.3. I picked up a tester today so I’ll be able to rest idle pressure soon. Where do I hook up the tester? The pressure went went down and then back up to 17 18 at idle and 12 13 wot. Used to be 19 20 at idle and 15 16 wot before the drop.

I have decided that all I need for my almost stock truck (injector upgrade before I got it) is a replacement aftermarket lift pump like a FASS or Raptor. I read some good and some bad about both.. Any opinions about which one would be the best way to go?I have a motor mounted pump on my 2001 and I am told I wouldn't need a draw straw. Would everyone agree with that?I also plan to put a big line kit all the way from the tank to the VP44 and a pre-filter before the pump. Thanks in advance for any opinions or advice.

Checked the puke box nothing wrong with it. What the heck is going on???:banghead: Is there another vent for the crank I am missing? Or could it be the vacuum pump again? It runs rough and smoking white. :banghead:

  20. HI, I was reading the article on Fuel pressures for the VP44. I have a couple of questions. My truck is a 1999 and has 87,000 miles, the stock lift pump went out in 07, 57,000 miles and was retrofitted with a new lift pump in the tank, along with a new filter assembly. The truck was running good, the other day I stopped for about 30 minutes got back in the truck, started right up idled perfect, but stumbled above an idle, so I idled home, changed the fuel filter, had a very hard time starting it. I primed the system about 5 times before trying to start it, it finally started but real rough. The next day I rented a fuel pressure gauge, I have 10 lbs at the filter, I check…
