  1. 1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect APPS harness connector. APPS is located on a bracket, just above fuel injection pump. Start engine and allow the engine to idle. Using DVOM, measure voltage at terminal No. 5 (Dark Blue/White wire) on APPS harness connector. If the voltage is greater than 5.5 volts, go to next step. If the voltage is 5.5 volts or less, go to step 3. I get 5.6 2. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using DVOM, measure voltage at terminal No. 5 (Dark Blue/White wire) on APPS harness connector. If the voltage is greater than 5 volts, repair short to voltage on Dark Blue/White wire between APPS and ECM when the ignition is on. EC…

So when I’m driving down the road sometimes my truck loses its tach and usually comes back within a few minutes. When it does it the check engine light comes on too. After you shut it off and restart it check engine light is gone. Recently I was going down the road and it did it and missed a little when it lost its tach so I drove home to get my scan tool before I shut the truck off and got po336. I have read the article on the site pertaining to the code and need further info because my 12v test light doesn’t come on when it tells me to the B connector and it says to perform test Ver-5a, this is step 5 of the test. I’m not sure where to find this test c…

I screwed up and orderd the 17.5" 4 in 5 out. Oh well it's not straight through like the areo turbine si hopefully it reduced drone. Snagged a pick. I cut the 5" slip fit end off the aero to use as a joint to make fte longer. Along with a 5" 51" muffler that someday I'll find time to put on our kenworth. I'm expecting no huge reduction from the little fte will most likely later ad a muffler behind it. Something smaller than the 51" Donaldson type muffler. Reworking down pipe hanger to get exhaust off the frame so later I can fit a muffler.

Quick question, 98.5 24v. PO fitted a aftermarket fuel transfer pump, not sure what it is as not had a close look all i've done is fix the guys mistakes up to now, he removed the factory fuel filter and fitted a cheap *** inline filter before the pump, I've had the truck over a year but not really used it much because of this inline filter and as I work on large diesels for a living I'm not too eager to start when I get home especially as I work 12/6 and I fully get the no restriction fuel flow deal oh and I'm building a house in my spare time, I've fitted a cat fuel filter off of a 9.3 so my filter has no restrictions. The pump is bolted to the block where the facto…

  6. Having a dead pedal issue on my 2002 24v auto. codes are p0122 p0236 p1475. problem is very intermittent. New apps sensor after confirming all apps power grounds and signals were good. when i have a pedal map and apps reading are were they should be, when problem is occurring map voltage is maxed out and apps signal is all over the place. Initially thought short between apps wiring and map wiring, could not find such short and did not notice change during wiggle test of harness nor could i measure continuity between apps and map circuit. Starting to think bad ecm, the problem did start after bleeding my low pressure fuel system getting diesel all over driver side of eng…

My son joined the ranks of 2nd gen 24valve/auto owners about 2 weeks ago. He had owned a 95 12valve/5spd White dually about 10 years ago, so when he ran across this 24 valve white dually he just had to look. Ended up trading his crew cab dually 454/5spd Black Chevy for it. He took new truck to Arizona for his cousins graduation and his transmission went out. So he had to get tranny rebuilt in Arizona so he could get back home to Wyoming. I suggested he join this forum and he asked how. I couldn’t tell him. He doesn’t have a computer only a phone. Can someone here help me look smarter than I really am! Thank you in advance

I have a fuel boss mechanical pump and I had an issue with some debris being stuck in the bypass valve, causing the fuel pressure to plummit. I cleaned it out and put it back together and everything seemed to be as normal around 18psi. Though, today when I went for a drive the fuel pressure jumped up to 45-50psi. Thinking the valve was stuck closed I opened it up to find all was normal. I know I've installed the valve in the correct orientation as well :/. I'm at a loss at this point, can't figure out why the pressure is so high! Any ideas? I drove for about 10 miles, how much harm could this have caused at 45psi? Thanks

I have noticed the last few days that my truck just skips 4th gear unlocked and goes straight to 4th gear lockup. Shift great and doesn't slip. Just wondering if this is normal. Soon as it goes from 3rd locked it shift to 4th locked with maybe 2 seconds of 4th unlocked. If it's in 4th locked and get on it or pull a hill it drops to 3rd locked, not 4th unlocked. Normal for everyone else or naw?

  10. On the 24v that I am building it has a KDP and I was planning on making a little tab to keep that pin in its place, but I was wondering if you had to cut some of the case out to to put the tab in and screw the bolt back in flush or if there was a way to do it without cutting any of the case out. Flywheel question: the flywheel that came off said motor has hot spots on it it appears, being darker blotches here and there. So should I just put that one on there or should I put my old one on that's a little bumpy on the surface where the clutch is applied? Its not terrible by any means but its there. I've heard to not reuse a flywheel that has hotspots but I didn'…

Well hello all, I don't know where to even start..... So this is a customer of ours and it was originally brought to us for no power. 1999 2500 5.9 stock. So.... Originally the truck only had throttle to 1,400 RPMS, Code was 1689, After serious going through, I diaged the ECM to be no good, Also the VP44 was bad too, Replaced VP44 and sent ECM to Auto computer performance to Andrew to repair, He was told the 1689 code and he also asked about the infamous wait to start light problem, Yes that was there too. He sent it back to me and the wait to start was repaired but still had 1689 and only 1,400 rpm. Sent it south again and he said he was pretty sure it was fixed th…

I have always gotten a random P0121 code usually I clear it and it comes back in a couple of months. But this time I caught it in action with my quad. When the dead pedal happens the quad show the throttle 100% open and stays that way till I push the throttle a couple of times. Has anyone else had this issue? Also I need to do the W-T grounding mod. Hopefully on my days off coming up soon. My fuel pressure is 15-16psi, checked for AC voltage 3 months ago and it was good (Will do it again before and after the grounding mod), and this has happened in hot and cold weather, short or long drives.

  13. So to save some time I did install the rear main first ***the first time*** but due to some dunce from Oklahoma, the rear main housing had a hole that was stripped, so obviously I had to replace it. At this point I had already installed the oil pan so I tried to reinstall another rear main housing without messing up the oil pan and what do you know, the gasket slipped inside of the pan and now the pan won't come off. Instead of using RTV on the pan I used this Permatex spray gasket and it seals pretty well apparently! Any tips on how to remove it without damaging the gasket or anything? I'll leave some pics of what the oil pan gasket looks like under the rear main. If I c…

Finally got around to putting my Mag-hytek cover on my dana 80. It stays cooler longer with the added 1 gallon of fluid in there. It cools down way faster than with the stock cooler. I went with Red Line 75w90 a quick $150 just to put a cover on lol. Here is a pic after a 100 mile drive on pretty flat freeway.

I know its been asked so forgive me, but I have done the Moparman mod and before I took my truck to the body shop I got maybe one drip of oil from the tube after 4 months with the mod. However after I got my truck back it drips after every trip. Just a small drop. I did the blow by test and it Is perfect. Is this normal or something I need to look into? Thanks guys!

  17. Just wondering how many people have done Mikes crankcase vent. I knew about the vent problem and his inexpensive repair but put it off until my radiator looked like this; So I cleaned my radiator, intercooler, engine...and added Mikes upgrade and haven't had a problem since. Also, my truck doesn't smell like oil after an oil change like it used to.

Wanting to get away from oil filters, looking at Donaldson #B105006, since there is a distributor close to me, I think they also carry Balwin Filters, just don't have the # in front of me. Any opinions?

  20. You are never going to believe it, the vp44 CAN be "rebuilt" in your shop/garage/lean-to!! Since my pump went out I have been feverishly searching for a cheap fix or the at least the cheapest rebuild I could possibly find……how does about $40.00 sound?!?! I have researched this in depth and found the common problems that cause vp44 failure, most of them are manufacturing process related (burrs left on metal components, pump case wearing through due to lack of lubrication, and parts seizing due to improper lubrication) Once the components have worn down they seize and of course the pump stops working, the less common failure is the electrical pack solders become weak and lo…
