So... before I go spending too much more time and money on the truck I wanted to get an idea of engine health. Didn't want to spend the $300 on compression adapter and guage ..... so manometer. My results were 2" at 2200 and 3" at 2800 .... Problem is this I s about NEW engine spec .... so I think some things astray. Most obvious would be too much venting somewhere .... but my front gear vent is blocked off .... And I run a dual billet side tappet.... 1 was blocked. Other was blocked with 15/64 hole. Measured from dipstick with clear tubing .... pics to come. Any ideas of where I'm venting or ....??

I know a guy that had new injectors installed and a few other things like the KDP done and exhaust manifold surfaced. He spent $4,000. Does anyone know what the labor charge or at least the number of hours it should take a shop to change my injectors?

Hello, I have a 01 cummins auto, only mods are 75Hp injectors, and a fass. I just had a new injection pump installed, however the problem was there before this. When the truck is put into gear from P or N, it stalls. It will fire right back up, and when you get it to stay running, it acts as if it's under a load. When put back into park from Drive or reverse if it stays running, the RPM's jump up as if I tapped the throttle. Anyone know what this could be? Thanks in advance!

I know alot of folks have temp fluctuation but I think it usually swings low instead of high. I had this trouble a few months ago and fixed it with a new water pump but its back again. I just had the radiator cleaned and rodded but it hardly had anything in it. Its got another new water pump and I have ran two different radiator caps. I have 3 different t-stats and they all fluctuate the same, two are 190 from napa and one is a cummins 180. I generally see swings from 190-203 or so, usually cruising it stays around 190-194 but will jump up to 197-199 for a second then back down. That doesent bother me as im reading those temps from the ultra-gauge and I think those are fi…

I’ve been trying to do some research of what the purpose of a lock up switch is but can’t find a clear answer. I get that it’s used to lock up the convertor but what I can’t find a clear answer on is under what scenarios would you want to use a lock up switch? I know this is a newbie question but I just don’t know the answer to it ?

For those who aren't familiar my truck is a 96 GMC Yukon with an '02 24 Valve, it is backed by a 6 speed Allison transmission. The tires are 285/75/17 and I have regeared so that at cruising speed (70 MPH) I am right at 1960 RPM. I am currently getting about 10 MPG and I am trying to figure out why. I run a Quadzilla on standard tune, level 4 and I have a bit of a lead foot but most of my driving is freeway miles. I also run a FASS 150 and a 5" straight exhaust with 4" down pipe. Now then...at cruising speed I am approximately 20% throttle and my EGT's are in the low to mid 800's. My load ranges between 30 and 36% based on the slope of the road. The boost at c…

I bought 6 new Bosch RV275 injectors one year ago (the price was right - $425 for the set) and finally installed them last Friday. The original injectors operated for 303,000 miles and had never been removed. They were still performing well – as in smooth idle, good power, and good fuel economy. I didn’t want to push a good thing too far. The job went smoothly with the help of this site. All of the old injector tips were clean considering the miles and years on them. I did notice however, that there is a black coating of something kind of oily / powdery (not sure what it is) in the intake area just below the grid heaters. It is not present in t…

I am having a longer cranking issuse then i ever experienced ,I just had a airdog installed and now have excessive cranking ,now I have exchange a few sentences with one of the mopar members here and this is what I just did, 1st> the truck sat all night, went out unpluged the airdog turned key to start and it fired up about a 1 second or less crank, turned it off right away, 2nd> I plugged the airdog back in and turned the key to start without waiting for pump to prime it took about 1 1/2 seconds to crank over, 3rd my truck is sitting in a driveway with the front faceing up hill when it started the 1st and 2nd time I drove it for about 13 miles and about 30 mi…

I have a 99 Cummins with 109,955 miles on it. I have noticed I had white smoke coming out of the blow by tube but not anything noticeable unless im stopped for a few minutes. if I take the oil cap off it blows a little white out of it but not like clouds of it. So next I did the oil cap test and removed it and flipped it upside down and it didn't bounce around or move (except a little due to vibrations of the engine). the truck runs awesome no lack in power perfect pick up and go, it doesn't smoke except a little black on start up and doesn't eat coolant or oil. No knocking either. The oil pressure is around 30-35 at idle and at normal cruising speeds of 55mph at aro…

My truck runs rough at idle, any throttle position, unloaded, under load, doesn't matter. Now it is NOT a cylinder misfire. However, it does seem to sound consistent when i enable 6 cylinder high idle. You can hear it and feel it in the truck during high idle (you can even see it in the mirrors. I have tried to take a video but it doesn't really show up well because the truck is just so loud. Now in 6 cylinder high idle (at 1200) rpms the "miss" is Consistent but about once every second or so. How can this be?! The whole fuel system seems to check out. Fuel pressure is all normal. Still have great fuel economy and power. There is usually a heavy lope when cold, then clear…

Some May recall my previous problem with my Fuel pressure. Initially the thought was air in the lines. But now I think it's something to do with the air dog pump block area itself. It still could be a house in this area,i dunno. What I do know, is that the problem is stemming from this area. Last night after work, I killed the batteries trying to get the truck to crank over. Luckily I had a guy to jump me. On the first startup of the day, it cranks over no problem. Sits afterwards, then it becomes a problem. This has happened a few nights in a row now. But not bad enough like Last night. I'll bump the starter to get the pump to cycle, a…

Coming home from the gym last night, no trailer, no nothing, and btw I am completely stock so like 200 hp at the flywheel or less, and I heard the strangest sound a transmission could make when I was about to crest a hill, sounded like cats having a brawl in an alley or something, then it went clang, clatter, crunch and crash, now I have no forward or reverse gears and coasted to the shoulder... Mainshaft is broke I think, we pulled the drive shaft and yoke out of the back of the tranny, btw the seal is now definitely wallered out, and the output shaft will move up and down, side to side about 2 inches and can be pushed in about half an inch and out the same. Something ai…

I have a 2000 ram 2500, I bought from a friend and it’s in real good shape but just had a few minor problems.... I have sorted them all out except one, it will start fine when it is cold... then let it run, shut it off and let it sit for about 15 minutes, then it won’t start. I put a new injection pump and lift pump, I have put new fuel filter, fuel pump relay, and just finished replacing all six injectors... I fired it up after bleeding the fuel system, let it run for about 20 min, then tried again to start and it would not start... I’m desperate for suggestions... but I fear I am going to have to submit and take it to a professional... and what about this b…

Hi, very specific vacuum pump question, have not been able to find the answer here or any other site / google. I've read a lot about failing vacuum pumps and re-sealing them, but what I need to know is this.. I do not have the vacuum brake booster, only thing my system feeds is cruise and hvac. After my supply line fell off the pump the other day (rotted hose) I hooked it back up. I decided to replace some of the hoses and noticed there's a check valve right before the input to the hard line on the firewall... was not working as expected so replaced. I also grabbed a vacuum gauge and tested. Several sources say the system should hold a …

To start I have a 99, 2500, Auto, 2x4, 211,000, Lift pump in tank with Relay, 275 HP Bosch Injectors. I am the second owner & got the truck in 2001, IIRC it has 15,000 on it. To make a long story short, I just finished doing a bunch of things I have been putting off for too long now. Recently replaced (in order of installation): Vacuum pump (http://www.fixinrams.com/) PS Pump (https://www.genosgarage.com/) & Hoses (https://ormebrothers.com/). Brand new Bosch 275 HP Injectors (Had Edge Jammer Stage 1's & wanted to see the difference) ECM from https://carcomputerexchange.com/ (Lift pump was not turning o…

OK I'll start with my truck is a 99 24v auto. All stock aside from a beans sump and a fass 150. I had a edge ez but it's been removed. Also I just replaced the vp44 with a used vp44. Before I replaced it I had a hard set p1689 no communication between ecm and vp44. Once I put the replacement VP in the code immediately went away and right before I had all the injectors bled(almost had it running) it threw the p1694 in both ECM and PCM and then kicked me out of the bus connection. Still have power at the data link connector. Now I'm unable to connect my scanner(Autel Maxidas) to either, no tach signal while cranking, no wait to start light, no lift pump signal, and pi…

I'm having a problem again with torque converter lockup I think. Symptoms are different though. I can be driving 70 and for a split second its like it misses then goes back to normal. Sometimes at 30-40 trans shifts back and forth. When this started I got an apps code cleared it and did the apps reset but didn't accomplish anything. The alternator I had rebuilt the first time was putting out 0.1v ac but now it jumps from 0.12 to 0.34 so I know that's a problem. I borrowed a snap-on verus to do some diag and I get a p1693 fault in companion module. There are no other codes showing up and I can't clear this one. I've cleaned all grounds and connections. Any ideas?
