First time ever taking the head off a motor since I'm doing my second motor swap on my new-to-me 99. I bought another motor for it, as some may know, when I bought the truck it came with an 02 motor and that wont work and I ended up stumbling into this deal for a 99 but the kid took the head off to check it for cracks so the bolts aren't necessarily tight, but is there a certain way they need to come out?? Also does the head necessarily need decked? The kid I bought it from said it wasnt cracked and I will check it for my self when I put a new head gasket in it but does it need to be decked really?? Anything helps, thanks! TL;DR: I know the bolts go in a certa…

I apologize if there is already another thread for something similar to this, however I’m looking for some help in tuning my 99 5 speed. My truck has some modifications and I just don’t feel like it’s at it’s full potential with the pre loaded tunes. It’s got 60 hp injectors and a silver bullet 66 turbo, was hoping someone could give me some options or a list of what should make it run the best. Any help is appreciated.

Im looking into re gearing my truck to accommodate 35s, I’m kind of stuck between 3:73 or just going with 4:10. Is anyone running these setups and how does it do. Also is there an equation to calculate final ratio with the bigger tires? My MPG is like 12 it town and 15 on highway with the quad. I think gearing should fix my problem.

Could I get a step by step guide to doing a coolant flush? I have never done it since I’ve owned the truck and who knows when it was done last. I will be replacing the thermostat as well. Thanks

I have a 2000 ram 2500, I bought from a friend and it’s in real good shape but just had a few minor problems.... I have sorted them all out except one, it will start fine when it is cold... then let it run, shut it off and let it sit for about 15 minutes, then it won’t start. I put a new injection pump and lift pump, I have put new fuel filter, fuel pump relay, and just finished replacing all six injectors... I fired it up after bleeding the fuel system, let it run for about 20 min, then tried again to start and it would not start... I’m desperate for suggestions... but I fear I am going to have to submit and take it to a professional... and what about this b…

Have a 2000 5 speed 24v. Edge juice with attitude, 3.55s, 33” tires with leveling kit, fass150, getting poor mileage and not driving hard at all. Avg 13 hand calculated. Have dead pedal frequently, will last 5-10 sometimes 15 seconds then pedal will come back. CEL came off ran code p0237 low voltage. Checked some grounds, ran great for 2 weeks. Dead pedal came back no CEL. Changed map sensor still no help. Went over grounds again all look good. Truck has new batteries and all new terminals within past 6 months.

I am relatively new to the forum but have heard of Moparman and used his wiring maps for a while. They are very useful. Very good job. My throttle surging issues are caused by varying voltages to, and subsequently from, the APPS. I have the same issues with the alternator and/or PCM disconnected. The issues are as follows: -Truck starts right up but idles erratically -engine idles fine with ECM data lines disconnected from VP44 (wires removed from connector) -engine idles fine with APPS disconnected (no fluctuations in incoming voltages) -40 HZ (or thereabouts) "signal" in power and ground with and without alternator (oscilloscope screenshots ava…

I don't have too much knowledge on building a reliable 47RE slush box for the 01. Seems everyone buys a built to order unit and I haven't found too much real world info for a DIY'er such as myself on good non-OEM kits. I have built quite a few gasser automatics but always to OEM specs but never to harness more power. I recently aquired a core 47RE that I plan to build. I've been looking at Suncoast rebuild kits. The 01 is gonna get a few more upgrades in the future but is never going to be wild so I don't think I need to build a $10,000 transmission. I was thinking of getting the Suncoast STAGE 1 KIT. What's y'alls opinions on which kit…

Changed fuel filter cracked line bled system tightened line started truck fuel pressure came up then 3 seconds later it went to zero shut truck off. Checked for air lock then voltage and founds 2 volts output from ECM called air dog they instructed me to wire to 12v switched and this is common. Tried that all issues resolved for now.... Had to leave for a trip so I decided to run it hooked as such truck performed as expected that was a week ago. My issue is this does that mean the ECM is failing is there a way to find out I have never had one sign of ECM issues until now Second is I often use the trucks radio when parked in ACC. and the fuel pump continues to…

So it's been this way for a while, but recently seems to have become more noticable. I live off the freeway, so in the morning on my way to work, I am accelerating up the freeway on ramp, usually mildly, and it's like I hit dead spots in acceleration, adding more go pedal will accelerate, but unless I romp into it more aggressively, I'll hit those dead spots until I'm up to speed. Now I notice it even If the truck is warm and on flat ground from light to light. Other thing that may go with it ... If I'm driving say 55-60 in fifth around 2k rpm and going slightly downhill, I'll use the motor to slow me down, but I keep slight pressure on the pedal to k…

I keep getting intermittent "dead pedal" i just flap the pedal a few times and it comes back to life. Then engine light comes on and i get the code come up for it too when i do the "key thing". Lol Anyway it has been happening more frequently so I am going to buy a new APPS TPS sensor. I know all about the timbo apps as well the WELLS ve tps but I keep seeing these ones on eBay for $20 US free shipping. Read a few reviews and people are saying they're not having any problems with the new or updated version. The part number I'm looking at is GEGT7610-172 and the brand is ISUMO. Does anybody have any real world testing with these to prove whethe…

Had a head gasket go on the 99 cummins and trying to get a game plan. Haven't pulled the head yet but mechanic says these trucks are known to have issues with pitting from coolant. If this is the case to fix the problem involves pulling the motor. My thoughts are to just go back with a short block and have a fresh motor since all the work is done. Who out there is a reputable engine builder before and after the sale? Right now I'm already having issues with the builder of the new nv4500 I just put in the truck so I don't want to run into this again. So I'm looking at a worse case scenario with the new engine.

Got the Quadzilla in and working. On power level 4 (add timing) My EGTs have dropped 50 degrees. With the EGT defuel set at 1250 and driving with some restraint I can keep them under 1200 no load. Pulling my trailer on 2 lane roads I shut off the overdrive, run 55 mph at 2150 RPM and my EGTs stay right at 1000. Trailer on the highway I had to rely on my foot and defuel settings. I added an entry level H2O kit. Spray starts at 8 psi and keeps EGTs below 1200. Overall my EGT problem is MUCH better but I still fell like I am missing something? No boost leaks. EGT 960 at 74 mph, 1960 RPM, and 2 lbs boost, and 23% load NO TRAILER. Do these numbers look right?

I have a 2002 Dodge 2500 w/ approx 135000 mi. the injection pump was replaced by a dealer when the truck had 98000 mi. The truck sat idle for about three weeks and when I went to start it the batts were very weak, turned over twice and went dead. I charged the batts, cleaned the terminals, but the engine would just spin. The lift pump is working, and there is fuel in the tank. I also changed the fuel filter and drained the water separator. Still, no start! Help!!!
