Ok, so I been trying to search on this and I haven't found anything exact! truck was running perfect. 2 days ago pulled into drive way and got out of truck to run in house and white smoke barreling out of exhaust (ALOT)!! shut off truck restarted and same thing with really rough idle.. took it around the block slow acceleration boost is way late and constant white/grey smoke won't clear up even when turbo spools up, and popping out of exhaust at high rpm.. no codes with key trick pertaining to pump just 0500 and 0234.. odd thing to me from searching is no codes and it will fire right up everytime I start it. No CEL. I pulled the injectors Sunday took them apart cl…

I have recently developed a distinct random tapping noise from the engine it normally does it at running temp and is more noticeable at idle. Could this be a injector, cam follower? I hope its not a piston skirt. What's ur all take on this

For the un-educated, like myself ...what are the plus and minuses of going from VP44 to a “P pump” or a "VE pump on a 2001? Recently talking with a guy that loves his. But he is into lots of horse power and mod’s. For the a stock everyday driver would the change be any good? I’m totally confused. He was talking VE and P pumps. Is going to a “P pump” or “VE pump” a horse power or dependability mod? Or maybe not even a upgrade and just create more problems? I did a search online and seemed to me people heavy into mods, a different type of pump might help them. But not sure about someone like myself that just wants to remove as many known weakness and hass…

well, everytime I start talking good about my truck, she let me down again. Started smelling antifreeze, and saw a drip underneath drivers side, thought the petcock might be leaking but further looking I found a pin hole, but anyway, Does any one have any recommendations on a replacement, the only one available around here is ORielys for about 230. bucks, Just don't want to short myself on a cheap radiator since I do some towing and all,

New guy here, first time diesel owner. Somebody traded in a 02 2500 6spd 4x4 at work with 163k. It was going to be wholesaled so I got a pretty good deal on it. I've been reading everything I can trying to familiarize myself with the truck, but I do have some questions. It appears to be completely stock with the exception of a boost gauge that was mounted in one of those pillar pods. I didn't care for the location of it, so I removed it and currently have no boost gauge. Since the truck had no boost gauge from the factory and my plans, at least for the foreseeable future is to keep it stock, is it okay to not have a boost gauge. I'm not heavy footed and …

My fuel tank is out right now and my fuel gauge is not very accurate. Thinking now would be the time to change fuel sender, being tank is already dropped. Question...to test the new sender before installing tank back up... can I extend the wires using jumpers maybe 4 feet to test new sender that would be laying on ground about 3 feet away, fill up maybe ¼ and turn on key , repeat at ½ to make sure new sender is working OK before I put tank back up? Is that a "go" or some reason I shouldn't? Thanks

I dropped the fuel tank today to clean up extra hoses and tubes and fix a small leak at the sump. I had no idea I had so much stuff on top of the tank. The end of the straw is probably a match head of inch from bottom of tank. What is your best guess of why a draw straw would be installed one day and next day after installing it says he is going to install a sump? Thanks

Last summer I installed some 7x.009 (100hp) VCO injectors and have only put a couple thousand miles on them, slight upgrade from my previous 60hp VCOs. I have been getting a really loud pinging/panging when the the torque converter is locked and under load. Doesn't happen in 1st or 2nd gear and it clears up around 2000rpm when the turbo is really flowing. It's definitely coming from the motor. Anyone experience this? I was reading about pre detonation and it sounds like it. Only happens under good throttle and almost always up hill under load. Any thoughts?

Hi Everyone, I drove my truck today for the first time in a few weeks and it seems like my engine idle noise is louder then it should be (see attached video). I know the Nv4500 makes more noise then the auto does in all driving conditions however it seems louder then I recall. The manual swap has roughly 800 miles on it and the video is after driving for 35mins. Does it sound like maybe I need to adjust the valves? Whats your thoughts or post similar videos. 01 Ram Walk-Around @ Idle - 10.16.16.mp4

  16. Hi everyone im pretty new to the whole forum thing as you can tell. I have been having some issues with my truck recently and cant seem to figure it out so that is what led me here as i know mopar1973man is a very reputable person throughout the forum community. I have a 1999 2500 24 valve automatic with the dreaded VP44. The truck is stock other than a five inch straight pipe. When I purchased the truck the man told me that the IP had been replaced before an gave me that receipt which says it was done around 150,xxx. Earlier I went out and started my truck let it warm up for about ten to twelve minutes an went on my way might i add it is around 48 to 50 degrees here whe…

  20. Currently I have a FASS draw straw and a sump with a new Airdog DF 100 system. The new Airdog system is hooked up to a sump and currently the draw straw is plugged off at the fittings. I recently got a Carter for a back up pump. I would like to keep the sump for the Airdog and its filters and run a fuel line close to the VP44 with shut off valve. And then hook up the carter via the draw straw thru to the stock fuel filter on motor then to a shut off valve. With a shut off valve on each line, I would open that valve for the line I’m using at the time. Then install pressure gauge, then to VP44. And install a toggle switch for on/off switch to each pump. Questio…
