Anyone know what size hose is required on turbo oil return. Mine looks like it's getting kinda porous. Is it something special or just a chunk of oil resistant hose. Thanks

Merging onto highway, truck running just fine. Get to 55-60ish and sudden loss of power, not decreased, nothing. Rpms looked ok, think i hit it to see if it revved, but now I cant remember if it did. I remember thinking that i just lost my trans. But in tbe dame moment my engine was dead. I was only trying to stay safe and no longer diagnose. As i coastef up different offramp, i had it in N and tried to start.cranked but no start. Stopped it, i turn key on,i hear a motor upfront. Try to start. Engine cranks, but doesnt start. W key on, i am reading no oil presure on OEM gauge. Well, needle just comes up a little but is still touching red zero line. Oil seems ok,…

Decided I got tired of shifting gears sold my manual setup and bought a auto setup. My truck is a 2000 bought everything from a late 99 truck. Got everything in and I am having issues. The truck will not shift on its own I have to do it manually, the OD off light stays on and won't let me change it along with the trans temp light goes off a couple of seconds after I start it and my trans temp shows 260 degrees on a cold start. I have a no bus communication about 20 seconds after start up. All of my gauges work fine without issues. I changed the PCM and wiring harness to trans with the 99 truck. Still have my manal ecm. I need all of the help I can get here anyone please…

Has any one used the polyurethane motor mount inserts? Are thay worth it I'm starting to get more motor movement but after 16 years I figure the mount rubber is getting tired as well as the trans mount

  6. (Sorry for all the "basic 101 questions" from a "new" member. My fuel system fell apart when out of town, after 10 years of service, the FASS feel apart. And out of town mechanic did a very poor job of putting on the Air Dog 100. Old mechanic feels betrayed I think. He did all my work and very good by the way. Since 2005. But now is punishing me I think. Wants 4 hours at $120 and hour to look over work done by out of town mechanic. 4 hours I think I could put on an AIr Dog myself by just watching videos. So I'm on the "fast track" to learn about these things fabulous 5.9's myself. Thanks)... Going to start with installing a Fuel Pressure gauge. In…

Hey guys, Most of you know that I recently did A LOT of work on my power steering system, including attempting to rebuild the gear box, which failed forcing me to replace it with a reman. Anyway my trucks steering has never been what I would call very bad, but it's always had the usual 10-2 dead spot. The new box and shaft and even Rock Solid Ram Steering Fix bushing did nothing to help that, though the bushing did get rid of the clunking. I am also guilty of sanding the bushing a little too much to prevent binding in cold weather and so I still have a little movement in the shaft. Anyway I got tired of the dead spot and read up on the "over center adjustment". I ti…

I have some weird issues on my truck that come and go, First off it is a 2000 CTD, 2 wd, Automatic, 218K on the clock. I was going down the highway one evening as it was getting dusk, turned on the headlights...and the engine shut down wth? Coasted to side and tried restart no go. Turned off headlight switch and restarted fine, then found out I had no A/C or heater blower fan. Little ways down the road the fan came back on?. Weird thing is when its cool out its fine, real hot out 90's and no go. I am going to check all the battery connections and grounds this weekend, Will check codes, there was a code no comm between ECM and Injector pump I think it was? …

What type of metals should I use or not use in the fuel system? Or does it even matter? Are there some metals that don't play well with fuel? Thinking about ball vales and fittings. Thanks

First posting as new member. Anybody have a link or ideas about a "back up" fuel system ready to go if current system falls apart? Had Air Dog system (100) installed last Feb after Fass system ( that was installed in 2004) started giving problems. Of course this couldn't happen at home. Between Dealer having a 3 week wait to get in (because snowbirds like me) dealer actually told me they won't fix it because it is not "stock" and had to have work done at actually 3 places (butcher shops) that really abused my back pocket. Wondering if I could install something that I could just turn a ball valve or maybe a switch to use one pump system and use "back up" …

Hi all, My NV4500's pto covers are leaking fluid so I'm planning to pull them and reseal them. I'm looking for suggestions on what type of rtv to use and how best to clean out the case of the trans while I have them off? Also, any opinions on wether or not a filter is worth the money? They kits are $100 from quad, seems like a good idea but I'm not sure if it's a gimmick or not? Also I've heard there should be a magnet somewhere in the case and that I need to clean it off? Where is that? Should I add anymore magnets? What type? Sorry for all the questions, just want to be prepared. Thanks!

  13. So I have been quite aggressive with playing with this smarty. I have tried about 35 different combinations, and several workable tunes, and I also have debunked the long standing myth that the adjustment options were related to SW. They are not. Each setting is indeed a subset, that effects the whole fuel map. With being said, I am now at a crossroads. How do I know I have hit the sweet spot. For example I have several settings where I notice the same acceleration rate is accompanied by lower boost 10'lbs or if I change tm I can see +/-15lbs on same road section. The smoke control is also there. However on other settings I fee…

My truck is a 2001. I was just wondering exactly where the stock transmission temperature is actually getting read from. I have a Edge Juice sensor in a goerend deep pan. The difference in temp between the Edge sensor and the truck sensor varies between 15-30 degrees. I ask because the other day it was 95 out and I was picking up some firewood rounds and my truck sensor hit 228. About a five mile drive with 4 stop lights. At the time I didn't have the Edge sensor up on my screen so I have no idea what it was at.

I need someone smarter than me. I feel like I'm playing jeopardy. The answer is - when driving in 3rd gear or od front servo pressure is 55-60 until I just back off the throttle slightly then it drops to 22. Until you Rev it up then pressure goes to 55 and away I go. All the other pressures check out just fine. Tried disconnecting the tv cable and then holding the tv cable at part throttle. Didn't help. When I manually shift into second pressure drops to 0. What do I check? What causes the front servo to engage or dis engage? Sorry to be a pest, I'm just scratching my head.

  16. Ok, 2001 dodge cummins 4x4 333000 miles. Original transmission. Barely any flakes at transmission oil changes. Driving the truck at 35 mph and 3rd gear. Letting up slightly on throttle it downshifts to second. Takes lots of throttle to kick back into 3rd. Also does the same thing at higher speeds downshifting from od to 3 when going down a hill or letting up on throttle. I assumed it was the gov solenoid and transducer. Changed that with the kit from cassadia transmission on eBay. It didn't change anything. Adjusted tv cable. Didn't change the problem maybe moved the speed slightly as to when it happens. Took it to a shop I trust for them to run it on sc…

  17. We recently purchased a 98.5 laramie slt, and we have fixed the boost sensor the tps and replaced the filter, we are now looking to replace the lift pump. We rented a fuel pressure gauge and hooked it up and we got idle pressure of 19 to 20 and reed pressure of 10 to 11, we have been told that it should run a constant pressure of at least 14 to 16. When we removed it we noticed some wires were cut, yellow with a white tracer going into the ecm and it is both wires. We have done a lot to this truck and we are at a loss, when we rev it up the pressure drops and the engine starts to run flat has no power. Please help us.

Hey all, so finally got around to changing my coolant. It went fairly well. Started with draining as much as I could through the rad drain. I parked my truck facing on my slight downhill slope and then jacked the rear up as much as I could. Unfortunately I only got about 4-4.5 gallons out. Anyway, then I closed the drain and flushed with garden hose for a few mins on high idle until the water coming out was flat and no longer foamy. Open d the drain at the end just to flush that a little as well. Then shut off the water and let the truck run for a few seconds til water stopped coming out the upper rad hose. Then shut truck off and allowed to drain. Next put thermosta…

  19. Year of truck: 2000Motor: 5.9 CumminsMods: None...However, I just had the AC guy evacuate and refill the AC to his spec. How is the truck primarily used: Just used to go to work, however, i recently purchased the truck from a guy that wasnʻt using it much. Seems like it was sitting for quite sometime. When did the issue start, and if it's intermittent or all the time: The truck turned off last week thursday, and restarted easily. On friday(7/22) i parked it on a hill(running) and it died. I rolled it down and on the side of my house and now it wonʻt start. It throws a P0123 and P1639 code and wont start for sh!t. I can hear the Lift Pump priming, and hit the schrader valv…

I've been lurking here since I bought my truck in February and love this place. I have leavened quite a bit so far and know there is plenty else to learn. I have to things to say/ask so bear with me. To go along with the title, I was headed home for lunch on Friday. Heard a little noise but didn't really think anything of it. Then I noticed my air not blowing could, looked at the gauges and knew the belt was gone. When I pulled over to check it and call Good Sams for a tow, I looked under the hood and saw the pulley for the fan being held on by 2 of the 6 screws and those 2 were loose. Good thing nothing else was damaged. I am wondering how many of you …
