Hey guys, about 4 months after installing a rebuilt ECM on my 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 automatic transmission truck, I pulled out on the road in front of my house and started accelerating up the hill. the truck stumbled really bad, seemed to catch and then went dead. I rolled backward down the hill and rolled back into the yard and started working on the truck. It would not do anything, it would just crank over and not even try to start at all, after trying a couple of times, the fuel pump came on and would not go off until I pulled the relay/fuse. At this point I pulled the smarty out from under the seat, I hooked it up, and it gave an ERROR COMM. TIME OUT, after calling smarty…

So yesterday my truck kept cutting out and having no throttle response. And no wait to start light. Does this mean ecm? No codes either. Already did w-t ground wire mod. Barely started after it died yesterday. Had to turn it over for 15-20 sec before it started back up to get me out of the middle of the road. Checking alternator today. If it is the ecm, can anyone recommend a good place? I’m looking to get one ASAP as it’s my only vehicle. I found this one from Ares Technologies, but i don’t think I know what it looks like because I thought I found it and then they gave me a part number for one 2 times as much.

Not to long ago I did the w-t ground mod with the 150amp breaker on the charge lead from the alternator to the battery (pass side) and it tripped a couple times shortly after install. On the advise here I disconnected the relays for the grid heaters and no more trouble until yesterday. Grid heaters still disconnected, I fired up the truck to run to town, made it about a mile when I noticed the "check gauges" light and my voltage was down to around 10 volts according to the dash gauge. Popped the hood and found the breaker tripped, not sure why. Did not have the lights on, a/c was off. Shouldn't have been any major power draw at the time.

It’s the 2nd time this month the check engine light has come on for this code. I replaced it 2 weeks ago with a new one from Cummins in el paso because I’ve been traveling, this morning the light came on again. i thought something looked off getting on the highway today when I saw on gray smoke and a little black from the exhaust. is there something that is the culprit usually other than a sensor? I’ll be home late tonight or tommorow, but if I can fix it on the road that would be cool to.

What’s up guys? I’m at a loss and like most people, I need to try and get this figured out ASAP. Trucks a 2000 auto. About a month ago went to fire the truck up and check engine light was on and would just crank. Wouldn’t start, just crank. Felt like it was cranking as it (batteries didn’t seem low). I posted something on a different websites and was told to check the batteries and charge them. I did that and truck fired up and check engine light went off. Flew home today for work and went to start my truck at the airport and the same thing happened. Well I purchased a cheap $30 scanner to keep in the truck. It said there was a code being thrown but it wouldn’t tell me wh…

I've just had a vac pump seal kit and a steering pump from Rockauto, arrived in the UK in 3 days so really good service from Rock BUT the vac pump seal kit which is a Dorman 904335 has the most useless main seal in it to the point I'm going to reuse the old one as it is better, good job I didn't remove it from its carrier, the old one has the oil scraper lines in the seal area to move oil away from the lip, the one in the dorman kit is just a sharp lip and some of the lip is malformed, barely see able but oil would find it. £34 and the main seal is going in the bin Mopar kit is not a lot more... my own stupid fault

I have a 1999 2500 with 165,000 miles. I bought the truck 6 months ago with fuel issues taking a chance. It would take partial throttle before cutting out. It had a cheap aftermarket pump on the rail (no name) that had recently been replaced. I immediately ordered a FASS titanium lift pump and b&d sump. I removed the factory fuel filter setup. The truck ran fine With zero issues until a month ago. I filled up, drove 60-70 miles and came home. The next day the truck started to have an intermittent dead pedal. Seems to be only at cruising speed, never during acceleration. Fuel pressure with key on not running is around 18psi so lift pump is fine. Fuel pressure…

I'm not sure if I can post this here, but I really could use some help. Sadly my father passed away in November and left a little debt that I'm trying to pay off. I'm trying to sell his truck But me nor my mother have any idea what to ask for it. Nobody has seemed to be any help so I thought I would try here. I have had several people Make offers on the truck the last being $2500. It has a little over 200000 Miles, runs good. The top of the dash needs to be replaced And the paint Has areas that seem to be peeling But the inside is in good shape. It is a 3500 24 valve Turbo? My dad loved this truck and he would not be happy if I didn't get close to what it was worth. …

So to start off be patient with me please, I’m new to diesels, and working on my own stuff in general. I’m young and don’t know a whole lot about anything. But a few months back I had to replace the vp44 on my 2001 5.9 Cummins. Me and my dad had to work on it at separate times since he was working nights and I was working days. Well we eventually got it off and the new one on. And when we got what we thought was everything plugged back in and ready to go we went to try it and the two wires that connect to the two studs on the same side of the intake horn for the grid heater we’re left undone and we’re laying against something. So when we started it I went to the front and…

Can the cam position sensor be tested with a DMM for the correct resistance? If so, what should the value be? This is on an 01 2500 auto. Trying to track down what's causing a P1488 code among others. The trouble-shooting procedure tells us to replace the cam position sensor but we've done that a couple times. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey guys - 5.9 cummins project getting a Jeep body swap on it. first post here hoping for some help! Since buying the truck in March I’ve recently replaced the cylinder head with a tested/inspected reman and threw in ARP headstuds and a new head gasket. After installing head I have no start. truck was running and driving perfect before and since the head it’s a no go. fass lift pump and thoroughbred diesel VP44 were each about a year old before I bought the truck. Lift pump is working as it should but I have a feeling injection pump has something wonky going on. When I bleed the rails, fuel shoots intermittently with a ton of bubbles. I’m getting a ton of air in the…

Recently bought a 7 owner 2001 2500 for a overland camper project. It has a lift but I have no idea how big. From the center of the hubs to the bottom of the fender measures 26” front 28” rear (I think this is the scientific way to measure) Any idea what size life she has? Appreciate it!

Hi guys, I'm having a hard starting issue with my 99 24v manual. I noticed today that when i first started it it cranked for a few extra revolutions, maybe 5 seconds. I thought the fuel had probably leaked off since its been sitting for about a week. Went to the dentist left it set for about an hour, same issue. Had the same issue at work after setting for 4 hours. Tonight when I got home I immediately tried restarting the truck. It did the same thing, cranked for about 5-8 seconds then started. Here are my thoughts: 1). It seems to be cranking slower than normal. This leads me to believe that it could be bad batteries/starter not spinning the engine fas…

Hey folks, I'll be going thru some of the various wiring problems im having with my '00 2500 cummins here this weekend, and I want to get a head start on diagnosis / get my mind right on it. First problem, I've got the p0113 code and replaced my iat sensor which unfortunately did not solve the problem. on my scan tool, the temperature reads -40 degrees. I have NO KNOWN symtoms, even though I do have the code. This points to it being a problem in the wiring and not with the actual temps. There's an aftermarket (afe) air intake on the truck that the previous owner installed Second problem, my engine coolant temp sensor is not reading, pi…

Fuel boss mechanical fuel pump . About 30k miles on it. Lately i'm noticing random odd fuel pressure fluctuations, mostly pressure is occasionally going higher than expected, like 25+ psi. The strange thing about it is it seems to be happening when it shouldn't be like when I'm towing and revving at near wide open throttle about 2500 rpm or above etc. I would think the pressure should be a little lower when the engine is demanding more fuel. Other than that I can't find any rhyme or reason why this is occurring. Any suggestions? Is this anything to worry about? Thanks!

I have been restoring a flood truck since last December, the water line was a couple inches into the cab. The vehicle runs and drives, I have since gotten a salvage restored title and it is my daily driver. Through all the many fixes on my vehicle I have had some creeping intermittent boost drop/dead pedal/bucking surging mostly when moving from lower speeds. When I am heavy on the accelerator it seems to be much less apparent. I have put at least 200 hours into the truck this year and have had many components taken out and reattached so anything is fair game when it comes to explaining the issues I am dealing with. The main question I ha…

Well onto the next item to fix...what appears to be a head gasket problem . I'm extremely certain that my issue is in fact a bad H.G. but I took a short video so you all can see what I see. The video was taken right after shutdown on a hot engine. What caught my attention, initially, was the upper radiator hose becoming quite firm upon squeezing it at operating temperature. For what it's worth, I had gotten some air into the system (changed the thermostat and radiator cap/went on a short drive up to operating temperature). I cant imagine these bubbles have anything to do with air being bled out on its' own? I did park the truck nose up and burped the system the best…

Like title says, I have about 4-5 psi at idle and 0 at WOT. I used a gauge that I connected at the VP44. Does this mean new lift pump? Injection pump?
