I need some help with a problem I am having. My check engine light has come on on my 01 3500, when I checked the oddy the error codes showed P1596 and 1693. I use the truck as a hotshot and pull some pretty good loads with the truck. I also noticed that my tach would go off and on, when it went off and zeroed out I lost 30%+ in power. As soon as my tach started working, power resumed to normal. I had a buddy of mine run his diagnostic tool on it, btw he's a retired diesel mech, and his equipment show "eng mod" but no error codes. Finally, I did take Michael advise and ran the oddy past the error codes to P-done. It went straight to mileage and showed no more codes. At thi…

I added dye to the a/c late summer last year, and can not keep this thing charged. I am in process of changing out the evaporator. I checked out the evaporator with a uv light, and did not see anything light up on the evaporator. I followed all the lines as best I could, and can not find anything blaring out. The engine block does look like it has a haze on it from the a/c dye, but can not be sure. Has anyone ever had this issue before?

What is everyone running for airbags if you have a goose neck hitch. I can't seem to find a kit that doesn't interfere with goose neck mounting hardware. I would like to use bags that go on inside of frame but i would have to discard bottom out blocks (one is missing, rotted off) and torch off bottom outs on 4" spacer between spring and axle. But i think that location would work good. Anybody has pictures of theirs? and another thing they sell cradle for bottom of the bag that way in off road situation bag doesn't get ripped, any input on that? I do use my truck off road especially when getting fire wood. I was thinking something like this http://www.amazon.com/57295-…

I am in need of a new exhaust from the turbo back to the tail pipe. I have been looking online at exhaust kits that appear to assemble with clamps. Or I could spend a little extra money and pay a muffler shop to put on a custom exhaust with not need of a segmented system. Are the do it yourself kits worth it? I worry that they may be more prone to coming apart and creating more problems. I like the idea of having an exhaust that is welded together, however, I don't have access to one. I wouldn't mind putting it on myself especially if it saved me money, but I don't want to be doing this every other year. Thoughts/Recommendations?

The truck I bought has a 6" lift. I think the front is ok, but the rear has huge blocks instead of springs. I don't like it. Any recommendations? Links to the right springs would be appreciated. Thanks!

Heater core in the 98 was steaming up the windows and would barely get to 120 over the winter so I need to replace it. I had every intention of replacing it later this year before it got cold out but im going to Colorado for a week at the end of this month and its in the 30's at night with high's in the 50's so im gonna swap it out this week. Ive ordered a TYC core and its supposed to be here Wednesday. The problem i foresee is the dash in this truck has a cover over it and the screws have been covered up. Im pretty sure I need to remove those screws but I dont know their exact location. I think the best way will be to use a small hole saw just above the screw but I need …

Hi all, getting closer to getting the Piggy to Smog and closer to ownership. So I am planning on Quadzilla. I see that some of the Motorized screens offered Android screens Single DIN mount. So my questions are what fits a 2001. Are Android apps installable from the google store using your phone as a hot spot? I guess that would require WIFI as well. Bluetooth Phone Must Bluetooth Quadzilla Possible ODBEC II reader Bluetooth Back up camera would be another option. So that's what I'm looking for. Any one with experience? Thanks Michael

I have a story to share!Within a week of the day that I bought my truck, I had an accident.Nope not vehicle! It was my truck verses a shopping cart at Walmart! As the wife and I were leaving a Walmart store a shopping cart came out from between two cars and Pow hit my right rear fender.Well I was moving about 15 miles per hour and it was moving at a unknown speed. It broke my fender! -- split it --- split was almost the whole length of fender running up and down to the bottomI went imediatley to the manager and we took pictures. Then I went to a body shop and got an estimateThe price of the fender alone was like over a thousand dollars I gave the estimate to walmart.total b…

So my G100 ground was in very sorry shape. I believed it to be the problem causing a no start issue I have been experiencing. Unfortunately it wasnt the proble, but I thought Id share anyway. The picture shows how I set it up. The materials I used were a Blue Seas bus bar (2300, included cover not shown), tefzel wire from mil spec wire 16, 14, 12, ancor marine cable for the 6ga ground cables, 3M High temp butt and ring connectors, and DSG heat shrink, tesa tape. The ground hardware is stainless steel 5/16 (bolt, washer, fender, star washer, nut, lug, star washer, nylock, nickel anti sieze). I put the new ground "studs" right next to the old for t…

Hey guys and gals. Over the next week or so I am going to start taking care of some preventative maintenance stuff on the Ram. I am looking at flushing the power steering, brakes, and changing the transmission fluid. Those are the only fluids I havent changed since I have owned the truck so I have no idea how old they are. Does anyone know about how much power steering fluid it will take to flush and refill? Also how much to flush the brake system front to back? I am going to switch the power steering fluid over to Amsoil full synthetic and the brake system I just put synthetic DOT 3 back in. I will try to get a hold of Amsoil synchromesh for the tranny. Thank…

I am currently running BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO tires in size 295/75R-16. They have been great tires but they are getting a bit thin on tread. I will have to replace them in a few months. I am considering moving up to 315/75R-16's but Walmart is not carrying them and they are EXPENSIVE this time around. I have been looking at and reading up on review for the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, the Kelly TSR Safari, and Hankook Dyna Pro MT. For the folks who are running 315/75R-16's on stock rims, what tire are you running and what has your experience been with them. I realize the 315/75R-16 will rub the lower track bar arm and possibly the fender liner if turned sharp…

I have race truck mirrors on my truck. Have lived with them for about 15years. I now have welder in the back window so only have mirrors. The race truck mirrors look good but I cant see **** so many blind spots and no view when turning my head to see ttaffic. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232151453539 These caught my eye. I dont care that they have led. Dont even really care if there manual or powerd adjust. I think they look good and should improve rear and side view. Driving our dump truck is a better experience because I can see so much better. What mirrors is everyone ru…
