  1. Hi all I have a 1998 Fleetwood Southwind sitting on a 1999 ford F52 Chassis. I have the V10 6.8L SOHC 20V motor I need to figure out which relay goes to my fuel pump. Does anyone happen to have any knowledge or a manual for this vintage of F53 Motorhome Chassis electrical system? I'm specifically looking for a diagram for the following items: 1) Diagram for Power Distribution Box under the hood 2) Diagram for fuse panel in the driver's side cockpit under the dash I can't seem to find this info anywhere on the web.

So the family is wanting to get an RV, I have only ever heard generic advice or read articles from places trying to sell me things. So a list of my concerns and thoughts... Pop outs. I have heard to avoid like the plague and I have heard that they can be decent. Other that slide grease, how does one prevent leaks? Are they worth the trouble? Maintenance of seals? I'm leaning towards a 5'er, but self propelled and bumper pull are not out of the question. I would like the option to double tow if it isn't self propelled. Maybe an airstream? They seem to hold up for a long time and are built a lot like a rail car from what I have seen. Am …

A week ago we took a 200 mile trip to a camp ground in Cumbria, it's 8 mile from the English/ Scottish border, mostly motorway which is freeway to you guys, looked at Gretna Green last week which is in Scotland, do a search.... marriage rules changed in England but not in Scotland hence people ran away to Gretna. Took a look at lake Windemere where Donald Campbell died in Bluebird. Today we went to Hadrians wall which was built in the 1st century by the Romans as their furthest northern frontier stretching from Carlisle on the western coast to near Lindesfarne on the east coast, 80 Roman miles or 73 modern miles long, 15 feet high with forts and milehouses every mile fo…

Years ago I bought a brand new flat bed trailer, 5k axles, 18' long for $2500. I can't even find one used for that price now. The same trailer new will cost me $3500-$4k now and even used is still commanding that price if you can even find one. I am in need of a new flat bed as the one I share with my BIL is going to NY with him. I have about $3k but it looks as though I will be getting a 7k trailer instead of 10k. I rarely haul anything that heavy anymore but I still like the thought of having more capacity than needed. Any recommendations for trailer sales in my area, I should be out shopping in a week or two.

Today was the first time I've hooked to our RV with the 3500. I need to do a slight adjustment to the hitch but over all she looks good. Camper is a tad high in the front but I will be loading some of my own firewood in the bed and we have not packed up the camper yet either so I think it'll level out. I don't have the WD bars on in the pic since I only moved her from the side of the garage to the driveway so we could begin preparing for our trip next weekend.

First truck/trailer is a '91 D-250 w/'17 Load Trail 14k, 7'x16'x2'. Second truck is '01 2500 w/'12 Big Tex 14k, 7'x14'x2'. I do a lot of dump trailer hauls, anything that will fit and dump, including logs. The '91 is only used for lighter loads on good roads, the '01 is used for heavy loads and bad roads. It is rare for the '01 to not have a trailer on it for the past 8 years. Current haul trucks/trailers. The '01 is towing a '20 PJ 22k, 7'x16'x3', the '91 is towing a '18 Lamar 16k, 7'x16'x3. I don't need the 22k rating for weight, but I need it for durability off highway. Some of the remote roads are horrible, I will go anyway…

My 5'er is a 2008 Gulfstream. Single 15k rooftop AC unit. Went camping last week and temps were high but ac cooled fine. I have a 50amp hookup in the driveway and the wife sometimes sleeps in the camper when she gets off night shift so the kids don't wake her. Noticed the other night when I cut the AC on for her that the compressor was still running after the temp had been reached and the blower shut off. I turned the AC off at the thermostat. Compressor continues to run for about 20 minutes , shut off for 5 and started running again. I cut it off at the breaker. Tonight I went to turn it on and the compres…

  8. My mother is currently living with my sister and my father is in hospice with final stages of alzheimers. My sister is now moving to upstate New York(after this BS dies off) because of her Air Force husband. My mother will live with me until my father passes and then she will go to NY as well. She bought a brand new 25" Coleman camper to live in on my property and she has a 2007 Dodge Nitro for her transportation. Originally the Nitro was deemed fit to pull this camper to NY, supposedly right at the limit for towing capacity. I disagreed and my BIL has finally agreed with me. I am wondering if it would be safe to put a hitch on the back of the camper and flat tow th…

A while back the wife and I decided we wanted to upgrade to a 5er for a couple of reasons. Our current TT has been great and served us well since buying it new in 2012 (2011 close out model, great buy). Alas, a 5th week as been on our list for a bit but we’re rather picky on brand. Based on construction techniques and frame design we were only willing to purchase a trailer built within the Nash Family of trailers. Those are the commonly known Arctic Fox or Fox Mountain 5th wheels, or the less common Outdoors RV’s. Our TT is a Outdoors RV, so we have first had experience with their “off-road chassis”. Most Outdoors RV’s 5th wheels are in their Glacier Peak …

  11. Not the first time this had happened, I’ve been out camping where the temps were in the low 20’s at night, furnace went all night long and worked flawlessly. and kept the water from freezing in the underbelly, Got home and decided to let the furnace run and winterize the pipes later. Well it made a horrible Noise and vibration at start up and I thought it was going to fly apart. I started to tear into it and try to isolate the issue, I pulled the squirrel cage cover off and their lies the problem.

Looked all over the site for the right place for this. Apologies if I missed a better place for it.....anyway long story short, I'm off to Canada for 2 weeks holiday just me and wife (1st holiday since 2009) once back I intend to buy either american rv or 5th wheel thing is I can't decide which would be best. To break down costs an rv would be £230 road tax and approx £200 insurance. 5th wheel is no cost per year. RV could pose a problem with manoverability especially the rear overhang as Wales and Scotland is a first and roads aren't american rv friendly. My 3500 is too big for parking spaces in my local town.... been fined twice for not being inside parking bay.....! …

  13. Im tired of renting houses for too much money a month and am thinking about getting a 5th wheel or travel trailer and trying it out for a year. I really dont know the first thing about them and could use some opinions. I dont want to buy a new one because I dont want to be a ton of money into it. I have been eyeballing this one because it has washer and dryer hookups and I believe a king bed. https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/rvs/d/lewisville-2007-silverback-by-cedar/7062380123.html

I recently posted a link in a thread here about someone looking to buy an RV. In finding the saved link in my lap top, I came across my favorite link for cleaning your RV fridge. Reason this is my favorite link is because when we bought an older RV and fridge wouldn't cool below about 45 degrees. After following directions fridge works great now. There's a ton articles on the internet about RV fridge, but this link does the best job imo. RV fridges and wiring get alot of the blame for RV fires. 1. Find your manufacture and serial number. Look up your manufacturers web page and see if there are any recalls, to make sure you are up to date on …

I have an '01 dually with the factory hitch setup on it. I am curious, what size pin did this take in the receiver originally? The hole on mine is egg shaped and larger than the 5/8" pin I normally use. I can take some pics if needed. I am probably going to have to buy a new shank already since this truck sits much higher than the suburban I used to pull the camper with. I'm hoping I don't need to replace the hitch right away as well. We don't usually go far with the camper maybe one or two trips a year no more than maybe 60 miles round trip. Eventually we will venture further but for now I just need to make it safe.

When we bought this trailer I was against having electric brakes. Since we got it I find lots uses to tow light stuff behind the pickup. Trailer is to heavy and tongue heavy to tow much more then a skidsteer I use it to haul 33ft top rail for building fence today I'm going to pick up a pile of trailer house axles I bought along with some trailer tongues. I think this trailer weighs 9000lbs empty. (Think ) tag on trailer is unreadable. also have a gooseneck but I'm not always around it so this is often handy for what I'm doing.

I'm a little cautious on electrics with my truck as reading the 2nd gen pages it all looks as reliable as a chocolate fireguard so I need to wire the truck for the 5er Way to do it here is a Euro 13 pin socket which has trailer lighting and power, I will be using a split charge relay and looking at a kit that senses when engine is running to open the contacts to charge the trailer battery, I think I'm going to take that feed off of the 195amp resettable alternator breaker I fitted to the truck, I have found a 40 amp auto resettable heat switch for the trailer supply, right now I think I'm only bothered about charging the trailer battery for the break away brakes and …

  18. We are currently doing a waterproof deck so it doubles as a patio cover underneath. Its a water based product called 'Gaco' that you apply to the new plywood. Taking a total of 4 coats and seam taping all the joints and flashing. I would not want to rely on this simple elastomeric Latex paint for a coating over EPDM on an RV. However, I do think that more expensive Polyurethane products might be worth a trial test run by doing a small spot on your RV to see if it peels after it cures. If you need a chisel to remove it and stays flexible it might be just the thing to add a coating more durable than the original EPDM roof. I think it worth a try as anything latex or water …

Do you guys take the crank off to get those to stay stuffed in each vent or do you simply cut a hole in the pillow to let the crank into the pillow? Do they stay in pretty well or should I take them back for store credit? T.I.A.

  20. Hi, My owners manual states: ”Adding lights or electrical devices to the headlamp/park lamp circuit without a separate relay can damage the headlamp switch and wire harness.” Further and more specific to my 3500, it states: “All Ram pickup models with cab clearance lights or any 3500 models must add a relay to the circuit before drawing any current from the headlamp switch.” I am going to be hauling a Gooseneck and I’m wanting to know if anyone has a relay for the additional lighting on their trailer. Thanks Leaky
