New Vp44 is here... truck is de-tarred...
Yea... It a good time to get the ol' work truck fixed up and repaired. I've got a list of repairs that I'm hashing out right now and hoping to get done before firewood hauling kicks in.

Yes. I'm aware of several Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10 issues. You might try again since I put a script edit in to hopefully aid most of you to getting into the site. I'm waiting for vBulletin to get caught up with the times. :duh:You might try using FireFox it seems to work just fine and so does Opera.

High Oil Pressure
Sounds good to me... Min. requirements10 PSI at idle30 PSI at 2K RPMHigh oil pressure is good. Like on my old 73 Charger before I sold it it was 60 PSI idle hot and 80 PSI at 3K RPM. Nice and tight! As for my truck I don't have a good test but the one time I checked it cold it was at least 60-65 PSI cold idling.

Dead on the highway
Here is what I got...* Stock VP44* AirDog 150 Lift pump* Mechanical Fuel pressure gaugeMy VP44 is just a standard ol' Stock pump nothing fancy. It's not the factory OEM pump that one failed at 48K miles and was replaced. As for the lift pump I ditch the entire system and replace it all with a AirDog 150 with all 1/2 lines. Even installed the DrawStraw I in the tank. Then as I ran fuel lines forward I kept the stock filter and ran through it all the way to the VP44. Then right after the the stock fuel filter I plumbed in my fuel pressure gauge using Air Brake line and a needle valve. This way I base my fuel filter changes on pressure now.

That's because everyone treat each other like family members and tries to respect each other. As for rules and polices we are rather relaxed for the most part. I've never really had any problems with different topics (Gov't / Religious). Also I've never had problems with people that requires me to ban or punish a member. Trust me the staff here is itching to grab the ban hammer and smash a spammer. But that's so very rare.

If you get lost in the woods, what do you do?
I just got done with a training about SPOT and SPOT connect. I like the idea. Personally I'm not fond of the idea of some one tracking me by GPS and knowing every step I make. So I'll skip on the SPOT. Typically I go out with other people so I'm not at risk. As for the 9mm FireStar pistol was passed down from my Father when he pasted away so a free firearm is better than a blunt stick. It's better than my .22 Magnum Ruger I got...

That's why I've been putting effort into the point system so people can contribute effort / knowledge and use their experience points to getting there membership. I'm still working at the bugs of the system and trying to clean it up. But like ISX pointed out if you go out and bring back information and share it with others that is valuable too.

Smarty's code reader
Once again based on my experience with the 24V model of Smarty I borrowed from Bob Wagner way back when (about 5 years ago) I will admit that Catcher is exactly that. Never the less my truck had problems with Smarty way too aggressive even back then. UDC would be nice...
-
Smarty's code reader
I'm the reverse of it. I'm tuned so I can use all of the power given without any problem. But like running around on the highway is find and dandy. But if I was on 5x5 and ran down to Lucile and turn up Cow creek road I would have to turn down the the power to prevent the truck from losing traction and spinning the tires as I head up Cow creek road which is nothing more than a steep one lane dirt road. So less traction I need to delay on the boost to prevent wheel spin with a quick change on the Edge I got my level already programmed and set up so I just tune it down. No stopping required. Something that would require reflash on a Smarty.Once again I'm not not just a pavement runner...As for your SGII that's weird you can't clear codes. Did you every contact ScanGauge and find out why?
-
Smarty's code reader
Another hang up is the the fact that Smarty can't tune on the fly. So if your weather conditions or road conditions change rapidly you might be flashing back and forth a bunch. Where a module like Edge allows for this. Most people have good results with the ScanGauge II for OBDII code reading plus you have all the live data you can read from the ECM sensors. Yes, the newer SGII can read boost accurately but no it does not read fuel pressure or EGT's. It can only report for the sensors that are hooked to the ECM or PCM.

Will RV275s Help My Towing Mileage?
Lowest ever recorded was 14.1 MPG (hand math) with the Rv275's and towing my RV which is roughly 7,500# and 31' foot long. But rarely driving over 60 MPH. Note: My ST tires are rated for only 65 MPH. I really don't want to have a blow out.

Hi from Ohio!
Hey John welcome to the family here. You might want to dive in and ask lots of questions. I'm sure someone here will know something or know where you can find the information.

Brown solenoid wire you hook to pin 85 on the relay.Using another wire ground Pin 86 on the relay to body metal. Now with your aftermarket fuel pump you can slice the add on lead some where going to the pump. Then slice the power lead to the pump and hook to 30 and 87a. The lift pump should be shut down and non-functional while cranking.

Time Lapse Video: From New Meadows, ID to Council, ID
Me. I would just avoid the interstates and take other highways or roads if possible. I would never drive slower than -10 to what the posted speed limit is. So instead of jumping on the I-84 down in the south to get to Boise, ID I use the back roads and head over through Emmett, ID and pop in the back side of Boise. This route I can hold 21-22 MPG both ways. http://goo.gl/maps/erIVA This route I get 16-18 MPG both ways. http://goo.gl/maps/aoVGr Distance is the same. But the trip is all of ~25 minutes longer. But the saving is huge! I could use Hwy 55 but I'm not fond of all the Boise crowd racing up and down the narrow 2 lane road to McCall, ID

I do most of my shopping in Ontario, OR (No Sales Taxes) then if that doesn't work then I got on down to Boise, ID.

Everyone teases me about driving slow. What do I have to prove by speeding? So what I got pasted by ONE vehicle that was speeding. Just like 2 days ago I rolled past a roll over vehicle accident where the driver was driving too fast and couldn't make the next corner. Needless to say the driver was seriously injured and the vehicle is totaled. 3 Days ago on a single lane dirt road there was a vehicle accident once again driving too fast and there was no where to go. BAM! Remember I work with the emergency services and see all the many ways of destroying vehicles. So what if I drive slow so what... I've not had a single ticket in over 20 years now.But like I've proven man many times already... 55 MPH is much more efficient and in 20 miles of travel I'm only going to gain 3 minutes going 65 but lose roughly 5 MPG driving 10 MPH faster so why?At least EMS and Police won't find my truck rolled over and my family and I injured from speeding... I'm done...- starting trouble when hot
P0234 is a over boost code and is caused from a rusted wastegate. This is NOT a MAP sensor error. The MAP sensor is detecting overly high boost numbers and ECM is defueling to protect the engine. P0522 is basically the oil pressure sender has failed or there is a wiring issues. Hard start while hot is a sign of a torn VP44 diaphragm and fuel pressure makes the VP44 hypersensitive. So if you disconnect the Raptor when it does this and it fire up them its confirmed and your going to need to do the lift pump relay mod. - Time Lapse Video: From New Meadows, ID to Council, ID
