  1. Suction problem rarely every leak... But another idea is to use a blow gun and pressurize the fuel tank with 1-2 PSI and have a buddy look the fuel line over for wetness.
  2. Like going out and mow the lawn to find yourself getting smoked out by the drive belt. SNAP! Ok park the lawn mower driver 320 miles for 1 $25 belt. Install it to mow the other half of the yard SNAP! and find the forward drive belt in same condition... :banghead: So I understand your day really well.
  3. That is the style of alternater I got its rated for 166 Amps @ 6,000 RPM's (hardly doubt I get that much rev on the old girl)
  4. I was worried about the very same thing but after a little working on my trailer I found out that all my plumbing has plastic collars around them and the trailer is rather air tight. I quite literially have to leave the door open to get the slide out. If I leave every thing closed (windows & roof vents) then try and open the slide it stuggles to open against the vacuum plus air is whistling in drains in the windows. So far no signs of critters...
  5. Well the injection pump is dead... Why? Because the fuel pressure was most likely too low and could keep it properly cooled and lubed... So this means the lift pump is most likely the cause of the VP44 failure... Why? I know that these truck don't come with a fuel pressure gauge but should have... But strangly enough a simple $40 dollar fuel pressure gauge could of saved you $1,500 bucks worth of repairs bill now (VP44 replacement and lift pump replacement). http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen24v/fuel-pressure/fuel-pressure.htm
  6. Even more fun to replace tappets...
  7. Welcome to the family...
  8. I tend to enjoy this parting phrase from your link...
  9. IfI remember right Edcasey is a RV mechanic at one time you might try and get a hold of him...
  10. The second 2 pics are rather fuzzy and I can't tell what I'm looking at...
  11. What's the condition of the batteries? Where you plugged into 120 VAC?
  12. Well I got the alternator dealt with. I got one for $129 from the local NAPA store which was a bit cheaper that RockAuto.com price. Yes I had them spin test it quick before running home.. Funky little thing... Smaller than the orignal... I'll get pics tomorrow...
  13. Picking on your brother powerstroke eh? Every time I see one of those things I'm totally amazed on how much BS they can put of the top of the engine... Heck every changing fan belt on my truck will all the fan and shoud I can still do it in about 10 minutes...
  14. P1688 - VP44 death code (Electronics Failure)P0237 - MAP Sensor (Voltage Low)P1388 - Auto Shutdown Relay Control Circuit
  15. You guys are not making me feel warm and fuzzy...
  16. Checks your fuses and then check the transmission relay there in the PDC swap it with like the horn or something...
  17. Wow... What a mess... Russ would you be willing to post up some pics of this I'm sure other would like to know what to look for as in plumbing passing through walls and floors..
  18. Before for you start make sure to deal with the freon if any in the system. Simple job really everything unbolts but the one freon line which requires a release collar.
  19. Well my local NAPA has one for $129... I told him to get it in which will be tommorow and I'll pull my old one off today so I can just swap right there on the counter.
  20. Ok gang... I got my next task at hand. Got up this morning and had to run to McCall to do a bit of grocery shopping and when I fired up the engine I had a strange growl/howl that was unsual. Went shopping and returned home and figured I would check it out. Pull the belt and check the tensioner bearing smooth and no wooble, water pump feels good, and the fan bear is good. But get to the alternator rough and howls when spun. Assuming I found my source of noise. I know Prowelder did a write up of a alternator rebuild on CF.com http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-powertrain/257771-bosch-alternator-rebuild.html Also I know he got parts from Fixinrams.com http://www.fixinrams.com/ What the best price for replacement alternators?
