Ok... POOF! You wish is my command!

Timbo APPS
Timbo APPS has no calibration to it... I've got a write up from Timbo directly showing the internal differences and why there is NO CAL for the timbo APPS. Basically the stock Dodge APPS requires a voltage to trigger idle validation switches were the Timbo has mechanical switches embedded in the design...

Voltage Drop
If your smart install in the states... (Less duy that way...!)

Another headlight question
After doing alot of reading I found that HID aftermarket lighting is illegal in all 50 states. Then as for me out here in Idaho I use 100w seal beam bulbs for fog lamps/driving light and they do a awesome job over the stock head lights.

Lift Pump Problem???
Normal... You'll find you'll change stock lift pump about 1-2 a year some times... Sorry to say Carter pumps are not quality products... I hate to say it but the only proven pumps out there that stood the test time is FASS and AirDog.

Voltage Drop
Water pump is easy and very fixable... Alternators are expensive critters...

Breaking Out!
WeeHaw! The sun broke out and it might just be a good day... Diesel (The Dog) dancing around the house while Mom's putting on here boots and I'm ready to just walk out the door... Catch ya guys this evening... ---------- Post added at 03:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:24 AM ---------- Well that sucked... Got all the way down to Council, ID and the weather was overcast and cold (40*F). So I never really rode the ATV but got out for a short drive down to Ben Ross Res. and looked around for a while for a hike and let the dog (Diesel) run for a bit. Packed it up and headed back for home to find tha it Partly Sunny and 62*F...

Death flash for 6.7L Diesels
(Copied from http://www.midwestdieselconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2423) I found this on another forum. I cannot attest to the validity of this. Anybody else heard of this? SUBJECT: No Crank, No Start - Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) With DTC U1601 MODELS: 2009 (DH/D1) Ram Trucks (2500/3500 Pick Up) 2009 (DC/DM) Cab Chassis (3500/4500/5500) NOTE: This bulletin applies to 2009 vehicles equipped with a Cummins 6.7L diesel engine (Sales code ETJ) built after March 04, 2009 (MDH0304XX) programmed with bootloader software number 00 06 01 (or later). 2007 and newer vehicles that have had the ECM replaced with the new bootloader software will also be effected. DISCUSSION: This bulletin explains a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination due to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC); U1601 - ECU Application Software Code 1 Missing Or Corrupted. If the Engine Control Module (ECM) does not have a calibration installed, or has an unapproved calibration installed then the ECM will be in a Read Only Memory (ROM) boot state. The ECM will have power but the lack of approved software will not allow the vehicle to be started and driven. No further diagnostics of the ECM will be available at this time. This code will be cleared and issue resolved when the ECM is updated with the correct approved calibration. Refer to the DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > Service Information for more detail. DTC U1601 set outside of the dealership with a no crank, no start condition caused by unauthorized (up-rate) software will NOT be covered under the terms of the warranty. DTC U1601 code may also be set when a legitimate flash is interrupted for any reason. This bulletin also involves explanations of the effects that aftermarket “Up-rate Kits” have on Cummins engine and emission systems. NOTE: Replacement ECM's supplied by Mopar may also contain the secure bootloader software, thus the conditions listed above may apply to 2007 and newer vehicles if the ECM has been replaced. NUMBER: 18-007-09 GROUP: Vehicle Performance DATE: March 13, 2009 CAUTION: Some customers may come in requesting a software update because the up-rate software does not recognize the secure bootloader software (even though the controller may be up to date). This should serve as a warning that the customer is attempting to tamper with the calibration in the vehicle's ECM. Up-Rate kits are numerous and may include aftermarket software downloads. Engines that have had tampering will generate excess soot and may damage the Turbocharger, Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and Oxygen Sensors (O2) and/or other emission system(s), air handling or fuel control components. Some of the changes caused by Up-Rate kits (but not limited to) : • Engine calibration, including emissions. • Governors, including engine speed and vehicle top speed. • Torque and horsepower (which may cause other drive line component damage). • Diagnostics, preventing MIL illumination. • Drivability and torque management control. DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE: 1. Refer to the detailed service information available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics > MODULE, Engine Control (ECM), 6.7L > Diagnosis and Testing > U1601 - ECU Application Software Code 1 Missing Or Corrupted. - "

Fueling "up the spout?"
Like myself with the Drawstraw kit... Well the orignal O-ring doesn't like being full right to the top with fuel (Leakage). So I tend not to fill dead to the top. But if you do make sure you drive a good distance to use a good amount off. Back when I was in the Fire Dept a guy stopped in town and loaded up plum full (in the filler neck) left the gas station and parked about 200 yards away. Walk to a restraunt for a bite. Well by that time the summer heat was pushing fuel out of the tank and we were called to HAZMAT spill. So the owner got a hefty fine for this one and not going to do that twice...

Breaking Out!
Well gang... I'm going to brekout of the house while the weather is good and head out with my new Home Made trailer and ATV and go play around for 1 day before the nasty weather sits down on Idaho and starts to rain. Here is my homebrew 8x8 with utility box. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=779 http://forum.mopar1973man.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=778 http://forum.mopar1973man.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=777 http://forum.mopar1973man.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=780 All hitched up and ready to roll in the morning... So I'm taking a day off from the XHTML pages and the forum to go play for one day...

Stupid fuel pressure gauge question
As for the AirDog series pumps I've noticed the ball and spring have some issues. Like I found that over time of the fuel pressure pushing against the ball that the ball is literally pushed into the middle of the coil. About once a year I'll lay in the shop pull the fitting out and find the ball literally jamed into the coil of the spring. Once I pull the ball out and re-assemble the fitting and hoses the pump is back to 17-18 PSI like it was new but by the end of the year it will be dipping below 15 PSI. Solution... Make a collar for the top of the spring so the ball can't wedge it way down through the coils of the spring over time.

Rebuilding motor any advice would be great....
The way these engines are build there is very little use for any gasket sealer. Most of it is a O-ring and rubber gasket like the valve cover. As for plugging with a chunk of silcone or something. You would plug the inlet of the oil plug screen before you plug a cooling jet. There is a oil filter in between all this.

Inaccurate Fuel Gauge
Fuel sender can be had at you local dealer for about $70 USD. Yes it will require the tank to be dropped and the new sender installed. It's a common problem with these sender wearing out. Mine failed about 130K miles. As for installing it its not to hard at all.

WOW! I got a phone call from England!
Wow! I was in total shock to here a heavy British accent on the phone this morning. A nice gentlemen over in England has a 2000 Dodge Cummins that died for no reason. He pulled the codes and found P1693 and P1689. So he had a Bosch dealer hook directly to the VP44 and found the VP44 was operational. so I guided him over to thE ECm page for the wiring diagram of the ECM to VP44 to hopefully help him out. Phone call didn't last long but the whole thing is over in England there is very few Dodge Cummins trucks and very little information or service centers for them so he found the site to hopefully get an answer to his problem.
