Not to far if you show up in my yard with a failing VP44 to be changed...

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
So far, the tune is smoke free. Eventually we'll jump into the wire tap tuning and see how far we can stretch it out without smoking. Then take some effort and build a towing tune but that will most likely wait till spring.

Hmmm... I know that you can use Oracle's VirtualBox to load up windows and go that route if need be. I'm not sure of any Mac Software at all. You'll have to ask Spencer @Quadzilla Power or Nick @Me78569 they would know.

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Quality of the injectors are what make for a clean injectors. So... If you do go for the Quadzilla to clean up then you might end up losing some power. I would consider a cleaner injector as well.

Manual Trans Conversion - Seeking Advice/Tips/Issues/etc
Normal. That the timing it adds to the VP44. Gets worse as winter comes on... I like automatics for little cars and such but automatic trucks are not that good for towing at all. Only 4 gears and manuals of 5 and 6 speed flavors. Still kind of dumbfounded about Dodge design of the 5 and 6 speed and gear ratios.

@Mopar1973Man OBDLink Questions
The whole trick we VE is it operates like the ScanGauge. So using the 63% for the stock truck value I was getting really high numbers. So as I added my offset the numbers come down to close to my log values. So more the VE number goes down the more MPG goes up. The more the VE goes up then the more MPG goes down. Fairly simple. Funny part is I assumed the VE number went down the MPG went down so my first try was subtracting from the base number which gave seriously wild high numbers like 50 MPG. So reverse it and now back on the planet earth again.

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Didn't really go beating it to death like the previous tune. I cranked it up on level 6 and drove like a white man to the store and back. Past a few cars along the way to the store and never seen any smoke at all. I'm going to play a bit more with this tune before next jump.

Fuel sending unit resistance
Did you get the sender in the right 2 pin positions? Did you get it fully plugged in the bottom and locked again? Did you test at the socket at the front fender for ohm signal? Is that socket corroded or damaged?

- TIRES
Bingo. I've got a wonderful friend here in the valley that could of got me an awesome deal on tires for super cheap discounted price. But... That was the problem if I had a road hazard issue or flat tire I was stuck bringing the tire back to him only. So I paid more for the tires but now have all the dealers I can stop at if I'm traveling.- Codes and more codes
I'll have to give Dave that one he's right on the ball. It is rather priceless seeing the pup's behind the counter and asking them for diode ripple test or AC noise test and typically they go hunt down the senior employee to ask what you are talking about. A good DVM (Digital Volt Meter) is roughly around the $90 to 120 mark typically. This is a tool that will be valuable for years to come. My Fluke 75 I bought 25 years ago still working flawless.- Codes and more codes
Here is my test video on how to do it yourself... 0.010 to 0.030 is normal and good. 0.05 is marginal and some report weird and random problems. 0.1 is a fail. This will cause problems and issues with the vehicle.- Codes and more codes
Yes... If you can get the alternator removed form the vehicle a part store should be able to tell you if the alternator is functioning correctly or not. Problem is does the store workers understand how to test them and check for diode ripple or AC noise issues? Some stores are on their game others just hire the punk kids and they don't have a clue.- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
We won't know unless we try? So since I was given the chance to try why not? Is it going to pan out? I don't know yet to early to say. What will the total gain be? Just going to have to wait and see... So time wise to install a module typically is less than a hour. Install a set of injectors maybe another hour. So timew isn't realy a factor. Money kind of is but most people want a module. I'd still say I like Edge Comp for a basic module but I sure do like the Quadzilla more I getting to understand the operation of it. Rather complex in its own way. Looking at the price difference between Edge and Quadzilla so Quad is a bit more expensive. I will admit Nick's right, the tuning abilities are way better that either Edge Comp or Edge Juice. I think it awesome to be able to tune all the smoke out and have all the power I want. We all know that smoke is unburnt fuel so there should be some gains with this how much still unknown. Drivability wise its taking some time to adjust on how it feels and reacts. Like Nick said it not about the HP/TQ its about driveability, cleanliness (being smoke free), and if any gain fall out from that just bonus on top.- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Being the distances I must travel now is another key factor. Then looking round my local area and watching the economy fail and watching business close doors and forcing us to travel farther for needed services. Like so far New Meadows, ID closed the bank and the grocery store. I sold my 1970's cars long ago because they couldn't do the tasks at hand here. So we bought trucks to haul the cargo, supplies, and trailers. I'm a man of many hats and require a truck much more than a car. Search and rescue I sure can't load a ATV in the trunk of a VW. Fire Dept some times I need to skip the fire house and work with my truck hauling pumps and hoses. Again this stuff doesn't fit in a truck of a small car. Then ranching I get phone call from a local gent I work with and haul his hay for his cows. I'm sure a small car would not carry a 2 ton bail on top let alone 4 tons worth. Like I've got a job over in Walla Walla, WA where I'm be hauling tools and such over there to install a clutch for a good friend. Again something a small car can't do. Since there is no trash service I couldn't fit the 3 trash cans in the truck of a small car. It would be nice if I was a nice little office worker job in a suit and tie just hop in a car and drive to my little 9-5 job. Sure a car is fine for that. So since I'm a type that uses the truck more so it best to get the MPG as the best I can.- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
That's me in a nutshell. Car won't work for me that why we got rid of our cars years ago. I've never seen a car trunk the size of long box pickup. Most of my shopping trips to the big city I can fill the bed of the truck most of the way.- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Like where I live and travel I can range from 800 above sea level to just about 9,000 feet. Most of it in the range of 1,500 to 5,500 feet elevation mostly. I think just getting a clean tune that is nearly smoke free will give me the best chance of gaining more MPG's. @TFaoro So what was your starting point with the 300HP injectors?- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
As for feedback yes I'm using the OBDLink information and what it spits out as a guide of how the tune is going. At least gives me a point of reference of butt dyno and the OBDLink feel together. So I'm not out there for the "precise" HP/TQ numbers but I am out to tune for the cleanest power I can produce. One of my customers I do truck work for has a Edge Juice tuner I'm not impressed with it either my truck is still faster than his no problem. Most of it has to do with the limits and alarms affecting the tunes. Still in all the Edge Juice / Comp have the same defueling sublevels. My problem was I could never get than clean tune with Edge because there is only 3 sublevels of defueling modes and too wide of gap between levels. Like tonight learning how the CANBus message and WireTap Messages work together. So I'm working with @Me78569 to clean up the CANBus side then play more with the wiretap side. Amazing to see the truck go from blowing a small cloud of smoke to nearly nothing but still good power.- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Just got done doing a new tune and need to clean up the launch fueling down low just a bit smoky launch of from coasting to WOT. So @Me78569 is building another tune to clean it up a bit. Then we'll build the wire tap profile next. As for flashing with Ubuntu Linux it's working just fine using VirtualBox forwarding the USB port to Windows 7. So Linux users do have a solution using Oracle's VirtualBox and can flash your Quadzilla just fine.- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Can't please everyone... I would like to at least match the 1997 Dodge 1 ton that made over 30 MPG. That is my personal goal. http://www.trucktrend.com/features/0708dp-1997-dodge-ram-3500-dualie-cummins/- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
I would say yes on a general upgrade. Being you do have better control over timing and fueling looking at the setting for Quadzilla Adrenaline over Edge products. Being this factors are available I've got to learn on how to make the most of the settings now where with Edge most of this pre-set by them take it or leave it. Still looking at what Edge Comp provides it not a bad a bad module if I've been reaching 27.2 MPG as a high mark but now to see if I bet that. Time will tell. I do see some bonuses for some of my local customers that are business guys that have crews driving the trucks. If you have a Edge Juice the tuner is right there and everyone always plays with it. With Quadzilla (Bluetooth) you can set it all up and no one would know the tuner is there. The only wire that goes to the cab is a red/white for ignition power. Everything else is under the hood. Like some other thing about the Quadzilla I like. I'm extremely impressed with the simple wiring. When you open the box and lay it all out and look at it. Looks rather intimidating with the big connector and lots more wires. Really its very very simple. Like I'm impressed with the turbo cool down timer function and how the tuner uses the existing power leads to back feed the ignition leg to hold the engine running. Very clever design that doesn't require the owner to tap the ignition leads in the column. Like I said the only wire that comes in the cab is a red/white to the fuse panel. Everything else is kept under the hood. So comparing the Edge Comp where the module is in the cab kind of nice but lots of stuff to poke through the firewall. Now comparing between them. Both got CAN Bus connector, both got MAP sensor connectors, both got wire taps connections, both require power except the Quadzilla requires two power connection one to the battery and one to the ignition. Of course they need a ground connection. As for the Quadzilla Adrenaline extras there is the pyrometer, fuel pressure and transmission/oil temp sensor. So when you look at it yeah it look like a lot more but really not by much.- Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
It finally happened... The Edge Comp has been removed from my truck and replaced with Quadzilla Adrenaline... Ok let me back up and tell a bit of the story here. First off I've got to say thank you to several people. @Me78569 for coming for with a crazy idea that will benefit everyone. @Quadzilla Power for sending me the Quadzilla Adrenaline. What is happening is @Quadzilla Power and @Me78569 figure I'm one of the few big MPG guys out there and would be awesome if the Quadzilla could possibly put me higher on my MPG high mark. So in end result, Quadzilla would have another platform of advertising at the angle of MPG's as well. As for Mopar1973Man.Com we would hold the article for how I got to my new high mark of MPG giving us the internet traffic. More or less a win, win for both sides. So out of respect for @dieselautopower (Owner of Quadzilla) and @Quadzilla Power for the module you now see their banners on the site. Now on to the learning curve of Quadzilla tuners and been bouncing back and forth between @Me78569 and @Quadzilla Power for tech support and understanding of different things. I'll also be helping out with drivers but seeing if the "Linux people" can safely update over VirtualBox. As for first impression of the Quadzilla comparing to Edge Comp. Way more power. I've posted several of my OBDLink screen shots with roughly 400 HP and 1000 FT/LBS of torque. First run with Quadzilla wide open buried my Torque gauge at 1,200 FT/LBS and past that. HP was right around 440 HP. This is about right when you math out the mods (235+50+180=465 HP) as compared to Edge Comp (235+50+120=405). This is just right out of the box setup and running @Me78569 custom tune he built for me based on his current tune he's running. So after cleaning up the code as I learn I'll get more of the power out of it. Right now comparing the smoke between Quadzilla and Edge Comp there is way less with @Me78569 current tune. So that explains why the power is a bit short yet. So with the help of @Me78569 I'll get this tune cleaned up and working better. So now on to the goal of attempting to beat the MPG high mark now. As for photos I'm too shy to take a picture of my install as of yet bit roughly installed in a hurry and want to clean it up before showing off. Also have a wild idea on install change I want to attempt to do being I like to power wash my engine a lot and also want the module easy access for flashing new tunes. (More to come here).- Codes and more codes
Personally, the P1689 could be an alternator AC noise issue that caused damage to the VP44 injection. The P0216 code is either fuel pressure issue or a lack of lubricity and seized the timing piston on the injection pump. If it is seized then pump is ruined. The P0237 is most likely either a failed MAP sensor or wiring issue so @TFaoro idea is valid it may gain a better connection. Don't bother cleaning the sensor it will not fix it. As for the P0123 it most likely a failing APPS sensor. I'm not very fond of doing adjustments to them being that most adjust them too high attempting to match some number which you not suppose to do. It suppose to be below any tag value by at least 0.1 volts. - TIRES
