  1. Sound about right. As the biodiesel percent goes up the BTU's go down.
  2. Why I have so many different jobs so as one season closes another season of work starts. Like web work is closing and firewood and air conditioning is starting.
  3. @Taz The 2006 Dodge he has with straight pipe 4" and 5" tip really quite loud around 50-60 MPH. But it seem the drone starting way back by the tip. Instead of the 5" straight pipe 1995 that felt likte the drone come through the floor board at you.
  4. You got nearly 100k more on your backside than I do... You never know about the Oregon bathrooms. I know for the most part Idaho is safe.
  5. 5 inch exhaust typically drones around 55-65 MPH is straight piped. Very loud by 65 MPH and starts to tapper out as it rises past 70 MPH. You can't even talk to the passenger. 4 Inch is really nice and not as bad.
  6. So now create a group gather in your area. Put your pins on the member map so other can find you. You don't have to use exact street address just a city / state is enough to give location. This is another reason its handy to have you location correct in your profile so others can see you close by or not.
  7. The people I have met of the site are rather very family like and great people to hang around with. There has be several gathering planed in the past where people got together to meet. We do have a calendar here and we can pen in a schedule for you so others can see. This applies to all members. Then there is the member map too. There is ways of getting a group together. Like JAG1 has gathering for next year already.
  8. Rebuild kit is roughly $40 for steering box to rebuild it yourself. Cummins vacuum pump seal kit is only $13 to rebuild the vacuum pump. Rebuild kit is roughly $40 for steering box to rebuild it yourself. Cummins vacuum pump seal kit is only $13 to rebuild the vacuum pump.
  9. Just like coming to the big city of Boise. It's crazy around the city. Everyone in hurry. I'm always glad to heading back out to the forest again. Much simpler world less confusion.
  10. Gear box need adjusting? I've done several box adjust for people helps greatly.
  11. Personally I wished it showed actual voltage of the battery and system then when it got to 12.00 or 11.99 then trigger the CHECK GAGE light. Then set the central timer to chime once every 3-5 minutes reminding you there is a problem. That just my personal preference. At least then if your trying to limp home the gauge functions and you can plan accordingly.
  12. Exactly. No wonder there is such big issues with 5th Gear Nut. Heck if your using a chisel and a hammer how do you know you torque the nut enough? Count the hammer whacks? What size hammer what weight of head? Way too redneck for me... Here is the Redneck bearing tool. Not something I want to be doing to the bearing is beating them back on the shaft. It worked for this gent but.... I'd rather have the time to get the right tools and maybe look into a press for different things.
  13. Those are the things I love to sit down with older folks and hear the tales of the early 1900's. Heck I remember growing up and barely had 7 channels of color TV, old rotary phone you stuck your finger in the hole and spun, point ignition on engines and AM radio was rather popular yet. I've got tools most puppies would know how to use like a dwell meter and and a timing light. Even in my teenage years the Internet was Gov't only use and wasn't public yet. I even created my first BBS or forum back in 1994 with an Atari 800, 4 floppy drives and a modem. All set on a timer and ran from 6pm through the night to 6am. All built on Atari Basic. Heck as a teenager I working in a printing company and their old computer ran with old 8" floppy disks. Heck now we got phones that can do everything standard desktop computer can. I've watched the world of computer and electronics change around me rather rapidly. Like my ITT Tech degree was for electronic science. Back then I was just getting my feet wet with IBM 8088 Intel processor the first AT clones as well. Now all my degree today is not worth a dime being who uses transistors much any more? Most all electronics are be created on IC chips and stuffed all in one mini-package. So as for social changes here we are... Back in the days you watch TV foul language and nudity didn't happen today everything is about sex, drugs and partying. Back when I was growing up there were certain topics or subjects that were taboo to discuss in the public. Now anything goes heck just post it on Facebook for everyone to see regardless if it was sexual, illegal activity, etc. I'll admit living where I do has it disadvantages... But being out here disconnected from the world and not having to deal with these problems is priceless.
  14. If it was dead of winter when I don't tow trailers yeah... I'd have all the time in the world to gather information, tools, etc. Right now I'm looking down the barrel of firewood season before the heat of the summer comes on. Attempting to plan a trip east but that now delayed till the truck is fixed. Still my lack of knowledge spooks me. I rebuilt plenty of gasoline engines. As for transmission I've never open one. So this is a first for me to look in and see. Then watching videos about syncro's and other transmission work most of the time the special tools start popping up again. It another one of these hidden secrets that no one talks about. After seeing Dynamic doing my 46RE automatic rebuild that seems fairly easy to do but again one special tool required which is a press to take the overdrive clutch apart. So I would be apt to doing repairs on the automatics now but still leery of doing a full rebuild because of lack of knowledge. So applies here with the manual NV4500 it does look fairly straight forward but all the Redneck methods of beating bearings on or off the shaft doesn't sound good. Chisel and hammer to tighten the 5th gear nut? Just not my idea of beating everything thing with hammer. Just watch around 20 seconds... No wonder people have such problem...
  15. I'm short the tools and experience. Again gambling with failure rates, money, and being broke down again in no cell service range and walking. Not an option for me. Same reason I didn't rebuild my 46RE because I've never done nor did I want the risk failure from my rebuild. I've I lived in the city and was close to buying tools, and parts and rarely left the city I'd be game. Like on CF one guy pointed out HF got the bearing puller. Great! now drive 6 hours to get one tool. See there is a bit more too it the distance I live from anywhere, time to travel there and back, fuel cost, etc. Kind of like just to get a carrier bearing cost me a trip to Ontario, OR, fuel, 7 days wait for my shaft to be serviced, another trip down to pick it up. Why? I do not own a press and had no way of removing the bearing. Other than that bearing was only $90 bucks from NAPA. cost of time, fuel, Not having every tool and experience play a role in this whole problem. I've seen the comment far too much... So where is the wonderful write up showing how to do it then? There is so little information how to do this. Then talking on CF a guy is talking about beating the bearing in with PVC pipe? Doesn't sound really great idea and guessing at bearing preload. http://www.zieglerdigital.ca/public/downloads/nv4500rbman.pdf
  16. I will say I've check this out. As soon as the battery voltage drops from 12.00 to 11.99 on a digital meter the gauges fall to the 8V position and chimes the CHECK GAGE light. Even though your still above the 8V at 11.99 and falling slowly.
  17. This why people need to speak up. More we keep out mouth closed it just assumed we accept the changes the Gov't and laws are doing. Think about it most of the weird STD's we got to day are from most of the groups. Think of all the health issues created by these groups. Now toss in drug and alcohol usage and make it worse. http://www.cdc.gov/std/life-stages-populations/msm.htm
  18. Something like this... http://www.fassride.com/shop/accessories/drp-fuel-pump-relocation-kit.php
  19. He need a ABS and SRS code reader. Not a OBDII reader. Like I've got one but it doesn't work on 1998 to 2002 Dodge Rams... http://pro.innova.com/Product/FullDetail/f968c286-07ab-46b7-bfd5-bae40673742e The only thing I know that will read the ABS/SRS codes is a DRBII dealer tool.
  20. If you can get thee codes read at the dealer then we'll know what to do.
  21. I've basic tools up to 2". But I don't have the punch. I don't have the bearing puller. I Don't have the big of a vise nor a press. It might be kindergarten stuff to you being you got the tools. I don't have the tools period. I got junk metal but welder is junk too. Again I've never done this before nor do I have any experience with gears either differential or transmission period. Now if you came over and showed me how to do then I'd be more willing jump out there. Gambling larger sums of money I really don't have on tools and rebuild kind of frightening. The whole problem I got is not knowing I'm doing. I have no idea what a functional transmission looks like or how to even disassemble it. That was the only manual I found that gave me a clue what to do. Again there is little ot ZERO information on how to fix these transmissions. What spooks me more is if I rebuild it I will not travel this summer with the RV. I wouldn't trust my rebuild being I've never done it. Place I plan on going would surely piss me off to have to hitchhike to get to cell service and then pay two bit shop to fix my failed rebuild. Which will cost even more...
  22. Everything... Here is the list... Turn to page 115 of the document or 119 of the PDF reader. http://www.zieglerdigital.ca/public/downloads/nv4500rbman.pdf Heck just one socket is nearly hundred dollars...
