  1. Awesome, just changed my rear output shaft seal and bushing, this came in handy to know there is a snap ring in tail housing that needs some extra beer to deal with, thanks for the wright up
  2. IBMobile always comes up with great ideas
  3. I got conicals (not beehive ) from Manton pushrods and some 1/2" pushrods and new toolsteel trunnions. I got a good deal on it as he was just starting to experiment with it on our trucks, they were used in race world for a long time. Kinda a guinea pig, gave him some feed back on how it all went. I had minor issue with 1/2" pushrods, at certain angle they were hitting rokerarm, I had to shave a little off so nothing binded. I also got longer arp bolts to hold rokers, factory ones are kind of short and with more pressure from heavier spring didn't want a chance to yank them out.
  4. I would keep stock cam, too many problems with aftermarket. Unless to want to gamble. With proper injectors turbo and tuning you can max out what vp can supply, I don't see a reason for a cam.
  5. I would love to hear from people that designed the nv5600 and their reasoning for synchromesh fluid. What is so special about it, I'm sure it's base is oil something like 5w30 at least it felt like it when I was dumping it in. So there are additives to protect synchros, but from what? Because the rest of metal parts could care less as long as they get lubrication. Guessing 15w40 motor oil does great on gears and bearings and apparently have no I'll effect on synchros. It seems that 3rd gear is the weakest as too many have issues with it. So if PO of my truck used synchromesh fluid and 3rd is getting tight, this would mean 2 things, one he had no idea how to shift, two the synchromesh fluid is not doing its job. It seems it would come down more to a driver and not the fluid according to what I'm seeing. But then there is @dripley... On his second trans... Maybe his transmission was built on Monday
  6. Well you're a living proof that 15w40 engine oil works, or you're on of the lucky ones that can do these things. I know my luck and the second i decided to try it if be screwed. Guess what I've done seems to work too and as little as I use it 10k a year or so, I don't mind spending few bucks on amsoil, although it's cheaper than 50 that Mike gets in bulk. Idk maybe next time I change it I'll try 15w40 for few weeks and see what difference I notice in shifting, temp, etc. Perhaps some day I'll switch.
  7. I wished many times PO of my truck wasn't a monkey and took better care it, oh well.
  8. Shouldn't but if designed wrong and you have multiple rebuilders day same thing, it only makes sense to overfill, strictly talking about nv5600.
  9. Look what came out flushing, hope it doesn't spring a leak. Quarter is just for reference I don't hide my money there from my wife
  10. I believe they are lighter by waight and guessing price since there are more common at this time. Seems everyone is proud of their 5600 and don't give them away. I had a chance to buy one used with 180k on it for 1k I think is what he came down to, bigger shaft too and I just backed out for few reasons, one being g56 and other rebuilding mine myself some day. Now I'm not sure what I would do, probably search for a used 5600 and if no luck go with g56 and same model transfer case like @TFaoro did. Or mine may last forever as much as I change fluids May need different clutch, but if your pilot is going out and who knows how the clutch looks like, maybe an option to get the whole set up, clutch tranny and tcase, then driveshafts I guessing. Still if you get a deal may be cheaper then rebuilding Nv5600
  11. You must be making all kinds of boost going through sensors that quick poor nv5600
  12. What do you think of a g56
  13. Like a tent, strong like diamond and as molten looking glass?
  14. Yeah I'm still looking for a different center console too, haven't seen one yet for decent price in good shape. This mod is for driver side door elbow padding.
  15. Look around for used ones, they're out there once in a while for few hundred. You can maybe go to part store and get something that supplies 18-20psi with life time warranty, just make sure it has the volume, like 100 gallons per hour or something. It would be better than nothing. Then start saving for a good pump and everything else if you're keeping it. like I mentioned before I would go for a mechanical pump, like a fuel boss. There are other ones out there.
  16. I live in the neighborhood where no one even knows how to drive a stick, don't know how many times I almost got rear-ended taking off from a stop. I'm more worried about when I go out in the middle of nowhere, where these trucks are like gold. But then again if somebody wants it they'll get it, it'll just stop the ones that have no clue what they're doing and looking for a quick buck.
  17. I don't see why you couldn't, it's a sealed unit. Fuel is coming in under pressure will only have one way out. @Mopar1973Man says he catches particles in the filter even after air dog. Not a bad idea to keep it just in case whatever might get by air dog filters. I took my canister completely off, my lite doesn't come on either, few times that I did come on was when it was downpouring and when I washed engine bay, the plug must have got wet. I cut my bracket with a grinder and a cut off wheel so it still blocks the hole in the engine block. Guess another plus is you have a fuel heater in the winter But that's a whole other debate
  18. I also bought a case a while back, I think I'm halfway through.
  19. Would it make sense to jump the fuel pump relay and then do it without starting the truck
  20. The reason for overfilling nv5600 is there is a bearing up higher someplace that doesn't get much lube, I've heard of multiple rebuilders say they should have put fill plug a little higher. This doesn't effect nv4500 only nv5600. I'm going to overfill because I trust the guy that rebuilds them. If I had 4500 I'd probably just run it at normal level.
  21. I use amsoil synchromesh for 12.30 a quart as preferred customer. I overfill to top of the pto side bolts. My local transmission guy told me when I first got my truck to overfill by a quart, I'm running 7.5 with a fast cooler on one side and filter kit on the other. Ends up just above bolt holes. No complaints, some day I may try mobil50 or even 15w49 motor oil. My 3rd synchro is weak from po, I thought about getting a g56 for a spear. You can see bolt holes through oil.
