  1. They are normal people COP "Citizen on patrol" and are protected under the "Good Samaritan" clause as well. They are law enforcement and most are not trained in rescue or even as first responders, he was well within his right to not help if he didn't want to or was not comfortable in not doing so.In most cases they are probably instructed to leave it to others to get around being sued now days.
  2. Are you talking about the CAD "Central axle disconnect" on the front axle? If you have one without it I would consider yourself lucky and not want to add it.:shrug:You would have to swap out the whole front axle and then add a manual disconnect cable versus adding all the vacuum apparatus.
  3. For those of you with hour meters "03 and Newer" look at it and figure your average MPH over the life of the vehicle.Just figured my 2010 hemi and came in at 39.8 MPH so far 59xxxmiles and 14xx hours, will get numbers from my 05 cummins later on. Good indicator of your driving habits and idle time.
  4. Good luck with your plans..............................You get what you pay for only you will pay to have it done twice.:2cents:Look at it this way, not sure what your shift kit cost but a quality VB is between 300- 500 bucks, figure the price of the kit plus the labor to install it will be about the same as a quality VB in the end. This is where my experience comes to a close, I do not help in "Cobbling" things.

  7. Be careful about "Low stall"!!!!! what brand of converter and what is the stall % or speed? Too low of stall would be anything under 1900 rpms or anything over 90% efficient will not be good for towing or daily driving as the converter is in full stall speed before you hit your engines peak tq/hp range and you will be lugging the engine a lot.I would buy a Sun coast towing VB rather than going with a shift kit. Save your money on the pan with a plug and buy a 5 dollar plug kit for your existing pan if a plug is important to you.Get the billet servo arm but don't bother on the billet piston.Doing these things will save you money on things you don't need and you can put it towards things that will be of benefit.
  8. I have burned both but only if they are very old and dry but only one small piece at a time just to get the fire going initially, otherwise they get too hot too fast. I usually use them for outside bon fire material.
  9. lol The only time you would see the need for that many amps is if you are idling with everything on the pickup turned on high and a trailer with a ton of marker lights on it all on and jumper cables hooked to something else. with your PIAA halogen lights burning bright ect. Just throwing a theoretical example out there. Or if you turned everything on and on high while the grid heaters are still cycling.
  10. Usually any miss like you are experiencing is always related to injectors, also at 130K you really need to check and adjust the valve lash, that will also cause a slight miss more pronounced at higher rpms if you have one a bit out of spec.
  11. Glad she is coming home! I am a sceptic on seat belts myself, I am 50/50 on usage depending on the vehicle and circumstances more and more due to the features of newer vehicles having ding dongs and whistles if someone is in a seat without having it clicked in and airbags I helpedriend of mine in High school that rolled off a road into a pond with an 80's era chevy chevette, the seat belt was being worn and the person could not unbuckle it hanging upside down, had the water been just 2-4 inches deeper the person would have drown.Another thing with newer vehicles with airbags is that the air bags do more harm or death comes to people when not wearing a seat belt or improperly wearing them. The driver needs a minimum of 6 inches between them and the steering wheel for proper airbag / seatbelt function. I have yet to buy a car where a salesman told me that but it is in most owners manuals yet you see so many people sitting with the steering wheel up against their chest, most of these people either die or are seriously injured in accidents versus having the space between you and the wheel.I went to a rescue class a few years ago there was a couple hour class on airbag safety for rescuers and first responders and how to assess if a driver was lying about using a seatbelt to an officer by looking at evidence in the car and what they hit and how they hit, it was about the most interesting and eye opening class I had ever had in many years. Other than crash investigators most LEO's are not taught these things and so they try to teach first responders and rescue squads what to look for.One of the other topics they stressed on was for those of you who buy or are driving a repaired or salvaged vehicles, make sure you get any info and or actual receipts of the seat belt replacement. They talked about the staggering amount of deaths of people while driving a repaired car that had the wrong seat belt in it. Every car depending on trim package and what type of seat has a different length of seat belt or different rate of seat belt lockup to them, even 1 inch too much travel in the lockup mechanism can be deadly when it comes to crushed rib cages, Most salvage outfits will just pull a seat belt out of a "Like" model car if its the same color and install them not knowing about the differences in them.If a vehicle has been in a crash the seat belts do not retract and need to be replaced, this is where the issue comes in that most just are not educated in. There could be as many as 4-5 different seat belts for a single year and specific model vehicle all depending on the packages. After my long rambling my main point is that all the safety equipment in the world is of little use if nobody is taught how to properly use it.Think of this next time you see 5' granny driving along with her chin almost resting on top of the steering wheel "I know every one in the world has seen this" because she can't see over it, if in a crash she is most likely a dead person because if the air bag doesn't break her neck first the steering wheel will and it will crush her rib cage as well. There are the reasons for having an off switch for passengers airbag like infants in car seats which are mounted so they are rearward facing if in the front seat. Safety equipment will kill if using it wrong just as easily as not using it at all.
  12. Just a big old open steel stove. I have to admit I would like a newer high efficiency stove though, they use a lot less wood for the same amount of heat and do not smoke as much and leave hardly any ashes. I have a couple of friends with them and other than the high cost to purchase they are awesome stoves from what I have seen and hear. In Bozeman where my sister in laws boyfriend built his large home in a Mt valley they have laws against wood burning after a certain day in November/December due to the amount of smoke that hangs in the air in the valleys and doesn't move. I do not know the specifics on if it specific to home fire places or not but they can not burn outdoor camp fires or brush piles.
  13. hehehe............welcome to Grand Forks, I warned you about that part of the state lol.You will get used to it after a while, sounds funny but come spring when the temps hit the mid 20's and sunny everyone will be in tee shirts again and once it breaks into the 30's you will see folks wearing shorts again.
  14. Maybe Dorkweed will let you borrow some of his wood when you run low.......................
  15. Poom.................oops my key board was upside down there.
  16. The only heat it is seeing now is the heat from the parts washer..................... Sorry couldn't resist that jab.
  17. I have the semi metallic pads on my 05 and they suck, they take a lot more application pressure to get the same amount of braking ability as the OEM pads, good thing I have good trailer brakes because I need them with these pads.
  18. I read this in another thread as well, never heard of reprogramming the fan engagement, hopefully he sees this and can chime in. I am curious too.
  19. My 02 second gen warmed up 10 times faster than my current 05, this thing is really slow to warm up even out on the road.
  20. 10 minutes is on the long side, all you need it to build up the cylinder temps and get the pistons and cylinder walls warmed up before driving it hard. depending on how cold the ambient temps are one could let it idle all day and not see the needle even move off of the peg.
