  1. Potato...potato (wait, that doesn't work on a keyboard)..Generally I hear intercooler as air-air and aftercooler as liquid-air.
  2. The OEM intercooler is probably a lot more efficient than that calculator allow, and item's such as humidity, speed, fan operation, etc will have an effect on the final air temp. Our IC's are HUGE relative to the gasser world, and that's a generic calc.Using that calc I am about 92% efficient at cruise, and 90% at full boost.
  3. The 04.5-05's use 0.010 intake and 0.020 exhaust, the 06-07's use 0.010 intake and 0.026 intake. There has always been speculation as to why, emissions, valves, etc. If you put the ESN from an 06 or 07 into Cummins' website you get 0.010 and 0.020, so that points to emissions. A few months ago, along with some TDR members, we were talking about it. Using the ESN from my 05 and an 06 the part number for the exhaust valve is different, to what extent is unknown. It is possible the new valve expands more under the heat of the stock timing/3rd event, or simply they were only 98% of the way to the emissions and the extra 0.006 seat time made it 100%.. it's still unknown. clear as mud :-)Recently we did the valves on my dad's 06, and set them to 0.010 and 0.023. 0.023 is within the acceptable range for 05 an 06, and based on ISX's finding will improve some low end performance. His peak boost went up 2 psi from the valve adjust.
  4. It takes no time at all to heat up the aluminum housing from the surrounding block and exhaust manifold once you stop. That being said hot is normal, it's why we have an intercooler. Check this out... http://www.stealth316.com/2-turbotemp.htm Only because the air is already warm from the primary compressor, not from the pressure obtained thru the secondary. The temp increase come from compression, and even thou the total pressure is 45 psi the secondary is still only working in a 2:1-3:1 range, so the temp increase is the same if the secondary is fed ambient pressure or 20 psi.
  5. The only differences in 04.5-07 is the 04.5 has an engine or battery box mounted APPS, where the 05+ is just the pedal in the cabin; the lift pump is on the motor in 04.5, and in the tank 05+, the valves and valve lash changed in 06; and the 04.5 was only rated at 600 ft/lbs (thou any flash fixes that), the 05+ was 610 ft/lbs. The pistons and 3 events are the same. Based on the numbers I say lie o meter!
  6. I have the Brite Box on my 05 as well. I also have the Fogzilla kit, but need to install it.
  7. Is that 42 psig or psia?~42-44 psig is the max for the 3rd gen MAP sensor, and I don't see the 2nd gen reading higher, so I bet your boost is higher.
  8. Oh it makes some noise when I am on it, but mainly turbo whistle. The exhaust is deep and throaty, but not too loud. The Garrett does howl thou!
  9. That doesn't look like any push-lok hose I have seen before. You can't use any hose with those fittings. I would let it get hot from engine oil and see if you can push them on more. Looks good, I'm personally not a fan of filters that close to the exhaust thou, it gets HOT over there!
  10. Sounds awesome! What psi are you getting out of each stage?
  11. Somebody ____ in your wheaties lately? How about you bring your "real" truck up here and drag something up a "real" mountain...
  12. Last time I checked a backup camera shows things my mirrors don't. It would take a series of mirrors to see what a camera can show you.
  13. Hellwig only offers a rear bar, and they have 2 sizes. I put the standard one on as I only tow about 8K, and only haul about 2-3K a couple times a year, but always on windy roads. It made a nice difference empty and towing and wish I had done it sooner. My dad put the "Big Wig" on his 06 as he hauls a slide in camper. The turbo I went with is limited to about 450 rwhp in terms of air, but it's a very nice upgrade from stock and better all around! It all depends on what your after, I am looking for a reliable, smooth, efficient 400 rwhp and I think I am there. There are far cheaper ways to get 400 rwhp, but I am happy with how my truck is setup.
  14. Over the last few years I have done a few mods that have made the truck quieter, and well I guess the cumulative effect just snuck up on me!I was camping a few weeks ago and a guy with a bone stock 6.4 Ford commented on how quiet it was, which was not something I expected as the 6.4 is a fairly quiet motor. Well sure enough my truck is a LOT quieter than his. So now I have started listening and it's amazing how quiet my truck is at idle, the loudest things are the trans and the vacuum pump. The trans was super quiet with the 6.7 damper until the weather warmed up, now it makes a little noise but not much. All in all I am pretty happy with it!The things I have done that effect the idle noise are...6.7 Harmonic Damper (did this on my dad's 06 and it made a HUGE difference)Colt CamGarrett Stage 2 TurboSmarty JR UDC and idle timing. I'm adjusting the valves next week, we shall see if that does any more. Not a bad side effect for the mods.
  15. Subscribed.. I want one too! My original plan was for a Edge Insight CTS with a post-turbo pyro and camera, but that's the $$$$ way!
  16. Windex also works well.
  17. I have used a heat gun, and even the wife's blow-drier, to get hoses on. Sure I can do it without but why.. it's like towing 15K lbs with a gasser, you will get there but it won't be fun.
  18. Drive pressure, what drive pressure :-)I can tow at 0.8:1 or better. It only goes over 1:1 WOT above 2500 rpms.
  19. That's a name that will live on forever!
  20. I only recall reading about this on the 06+ trucks with TIPM issues, since you don't fit either of those bills I would start with the work you did and what Michael posted. It may not hurt to buy some dielectric and reconnect what you separated.
  21. Some disparity is normal, but too much could be the blend door??
  22. That's a better price than I was looking at 2 weeks ago.
  23. Those EGT's seem low for what appears to be stock tuning with injectors. Should be able to hit 1200° or 1250°.
  24. If you do it when it's warm then it will be messy, let it cool and it won't be.
