  1. What do you mean depends on how much I want to spend? They're like 140 bucks right?
  2. Hey guys, just wondering, is Timbo one of those mods worth doing even if my current APPS isn't acting up? I definitely planned on going the Timbo route once my APPS finally crapped out on me, but just wondering if I'd even notice a difference switching to it now? I'm usually not a big fan of swapping out parts just to do it, but if it'll give a noticeable difference in drivability or something, I'm more then willing to do it.
  3. Quick question I couldn't remember the answer too. Just got around to installing my high idle switch I took out of my 99 and into my 02. When starting on a cold morning in MPG mode, once started, should my grid heater still be cycling?
  4. I still say your best bet is to replace the tank. You have a lot of different 'fixes' on the tank and personally, I'd hate to finally get my fuel system fixed and working the way I wanted and still have all these older 'fixes' strewn about on the tank. I doubt it'd be hard to find a good fuel tank, problem would be making sure you got it for a good price as I don't see tanks getting sold to often you could fall victim to someone going way to high for a tank just because they don't sell often. I will also second what @Dieselfuture said and go with the drawstraw 5 (or whatever version needed for your fuel module) as I personally feel it's the best option because of the reasons stated in his post. I'm currently running one on my 02 and despite some random starting issues (that I'm not sure I can attribute to the drawstraw) it's been flawless. I've taken it down to an 1/8th of a tank before, although I do try and stay above a 1/4 at all times.
  5. Ah ok, I remember your other thread on the drawstraw debacle now. Honestly man your fuel tank is only a few holes shy of being Swiss cheese at this point so what's another hole gonna hirt, right?! Seriously though, unless you can snag a good tank for a decent price (honestly I'd personally go this route) then I say put another sump in the front or middle and call it a day. Not ideal but it should prevent the truck from at least dying at idle. Although you'll still have time where you'll be sucking air into the system (which is why I mentioned a whole new tank) but it should be manageable since fuel will still be supplied to the Airdog as if it were running off one sump. Plus sounds like you have an air/water seperator which should help. If were a little closer I wouldn't mind getting in there and helpin ya out!
  6. In all honesty, keeping the tank above a 1/4 is your best, hassle free solution. Just to make sure though, the sump is drawing fuel from the bottom rear of the tank? A couple ideas come to mind, one, you could just add another sump towards the front of the tank or middle (where it should've been to begin with) and connect the hoses from the two sumps and then run them up to your Airdog. Other option that's more inline with what you were originally thinking would be to just hook back up the stock fuel filter canister (leave out th filter if you wanted but the space save would be negligible for the added filtration) and call it good. Only real issue I see with adding some sort of bucket post Airdog or even the stock fuel filter canister is that air is still getting into the fuel delivery system and will cause problems. Air should always move past the stored fuel in the canister or fuel lines prior to depleting that fuel supply so while I get where you're going, I'm not sure it'll work out the way you intend. Curious though, when it does die from being on an incline, how long does it take to die? Does it need to be completely re-primed after that or can you just crank for a bit and be on your way?
  7. Man I'm pretty jealous! How's the truck drive now compared to your last setup?!
  8. Just to point out, if I remember correctly, Jon's stage 3 is good to 550-600hp. @crf450ish I wish I could ride in your truck to see how the trans feels!
  9. As soon as my 2 stroke supply runs out I'm switching to opti-lube summer blend. You could always check out the additives sticky and choose whichever you like.
  10. Another note to consider is if running a needle valve in this setup, I'll just assume it's because you're not using a regulator (because they're terrible! ) and running diesel straight into the cab (like I am). So be mindful of where you tap into your fuel line so you can quickly reach in and shut off the needle valve if need be. I am not using the stock fuel filter and I tapped in my fuel pressure tee as far away from the VP but still easily hop up on the tire and shut it off if need be. Although I am stealing @dripley's idea of putting a small hole in the bottom of the gauge pod to watch for leaks. Genius I say!
  11. Awesome! I used to fly on a Helio Courier a lot, never did any intention STOLs but we had quite a few short take offs and landings! Fun stuff!
  12. Welcome to the site! I'm sure we'll be able to get your issues figured out!
  13. Jesus H! You're getting greedy!
  14. If I remember correctly, and I'm sure he'll chime in, but I believe @dripley had a similar experience that he just let be and eventually went away. I'm looking forward to his response
  15. What size turbo was in before and what size now?!
  16. OOH OOH!! ME ME! Oh wait, I don't have a quad Or a trans that could hold it
  17. If I remember correctly theres a blurb in the FSM about this. It is fluid draining out of the TC. It says to place the truck in neutral for 20secs or so to get fluid back into the TC prior to moving. I've had to do this on my 99 which sits a decent amount between drives and it'll do the same thing. Putting her in neutral just before taking off solved the issue.
  18. That would make sense Dripley. When I modified my fuel module to run the drawstraw 5 it already had the in tank pump installed by the PO and dealership. I know all too well about those pesky little pumps stuck down in that plastic contraption!
  19. Yea that's exactly what mine looks like. If his is OEM then what is ours?!
  20. So besides the 'couldn't make up their mind' syndrome that your fuel system has suffered from, is everything running fine? It looks like it's setup ok and should be running fine. That fuel module looks like it has really high sides on it. I wonder how much they varied from year to year because that looks nothing like mine that came out of my 02. Either that or it's an aftermarket module.
  21. A cousin has one and they live on a really long dirt road driveway. Every now and then a random car will end up at the very end. He'll send the drone down there to check things out. Needless to say, they don't stick around long after!
  22. I agree with Katoom, my readings were A LOT louder db wise,
  23. Should've clarified my previous post. I wish I had drives like these CLOSER to where I live haha! Most all of those type of drives are a MINIMUM of an hour and half from me and it's hard to find the time to justify that! I agree though, I lived in Hawaii for 5 years and I'd take the PNW over that 100 out of 100 times!
  24. Looks awesome Mike, wish we had some those of drives around here!
