  1. Yes @dripley !! I’m actually making up a shield to have in front to help protect it. They definitely hang a bit further down then the FASS filters haha
  2. I’ll chop em up! Just have a hard time determining a filter being good or bad based off the interior color.
  3. Yea I’m not sure I’d feel comfortable putting that many miles through a filter exposed to the elements. The fass filters these replaced had only 8k on them but been on the truck over 2 years and were in terrible shape. Bunch of surface rust along the top of the filters and what not. Hopefully John can chime in on filter life expectancy but to me, if I’m changing filters every 2 years then that’s fine by me.
  4. Just a follow up here to show the difference between the FASS and the filters @AH64ID recommended to me. Quite a difference!
  5. Thanks for that! I just brushed over it but I’ll definitely go back and read again.
  6. Bah! Strainer, gotcha!
  7. Yea not sure I agree on pressure dropping to 0 for a few seconds being the ticket to a new VP. Definitely not good, and wouldn’t be something I’d do often or ever. Not sure running at 5psi at WOT is much different though. My gauge doesn’t go below 15-16psi ever, and that’s with dirty/old filters. If you really want a sump then just get it. People talk about beans being the best for a reason, take it or leave it. Sounds like you’re looking for more then what you’ll get in regards to a reply about them. It does like you say, sits at the bottom on the tank and draws in fuel.
  8. Doesn’t fuel boss say to not use a filter before the pump? Only post?
  9. I've definitely checked it in the past to make sure pressures were staying where they should and once I knew they were good I just check here and there. If you think about it, if pressures were to drop while you're WOT, it wouldn't be that low that long to begin with. Plus if you're already dragging your pressure to 5psi the obviously you're already well below where you want and you know that so what difference does it make checking it during a WOT run? Just my thoughts at least.
  10. You don’t have to check every gauge every WOT run. I typically see what I can see or look at a specific gauge if I have other reasons too. Since I only have the egt alarm set on the quad it’s fairly easy for me to see the yellow flash and know temps were at or above my settings. If you want to study the data then check logs.
  11. You gotta turn off the EGT defuel and just watch your gauges. I set up the alert function so it’ll grab my attention if it gets higher then I set it, but the defueling is your prob. 25% is a lot but even if it wasn’t as much, when you’re WOT and even a little pulls from the box, it’ll feel like way more on the butt dyno.
  12. @cumminsVP2001 this is what I was saying when I said I was surprised to see so much wiretap in your tune.
  13. Haven't had both, but bluetop has been running just fine for me, no complaints!
  14. So something I've noticed is when the truck is still cold and or warming and driving, I can get into some situations where it seems like it's surging a bit when in the lower-ish rpms with converter locked. Maybe something to do with timing? I'll have to double check the coolant temp to see if the quad is even taking over the timing when it's doing it, but would that make sense?
  15. Nick how do us peons look at and understand data logs on our own? I'd like to be able to export them somewhere so I can review them like you do, but dont know how.

  17. The older trucks don’t have those options. Like Mike stated you’re very limited on what electrical/computer info you’re given because there’s practically neither on the truck. It’s one of the main reasons they’re so sought after.
  18. Not sure you’ll have that ‘luxury’ on a 12v. You could get electronic gauges but they’ll still take a mechanical reading and use a sender to display data to the gauges. Thats a great find btw, I’m jealous!
  19. I usually see the same pressure swings on my gauge after having all the lines open.
  20. What did you have them set too?
  21. @Dieselfuture Well tried it on 0 and it definitely smokes more then with the quad. Not a HUGE difference but notable enough. I could’ve driven it fairly smoke free. Any time you stab at the throttle it’s definitely smokey. I imagine your turbo would be really nice with 7x.012’s. I plan on upgraded to a 62/68/12 eventually.
  22. Yea man, I’ll try it out on the way home tomorrow, I’ll try and grab some video if I can too.
  23. Kewl. That’s good to hear. Wasn’t sure so glad it’s normal. I suppose I’d see the same with a larger turbo as well right? Given that the quad isn’t doing anything at idle? Also, any reason why sometimes the haze is more visible then others?
  24. Well sorta hit or miss now lol. The other day sitting at idle I could see light smoke coming by the passenger side door, being blown from the exhaust. Today, I saw nothing. Its definitely not visible leaving the exhaust tip, but if you were sitting in traffic it’d be enough to catch your attention if you could see it lol. Sorry it’s herd to explain.
  25. Ok so should the excess ‘smoke’ be a concern or just comes with the territory?
