1. the 'trick' is to use that lacquer-sealer on both sides of the new gasket. It keeps it from happening again. I've been there, done that. On 500awhp.. My '02 WRX 2.5L/2.0L hybrid built (no, not electric/gas, but 2.5L block, 2.0L heads.)
 2. for injector pricing, also check with Dave @ DB Truck Customs (facebook: http://www.facebook.com/db.truckcustoms) or RamHunter9 on here/RamForum.com
 3. I've always ran my Edge Juice (w/Hot Unlock) on 2x6 or 1x6, and get pretty much the same: 10-11mpg city. For the past couple of tanks, I've been running in 3x6. As well, the last two tankfuls have been about 95% towing (8500-9000lb trailer), and about 15-20% of that at 55mph. The 80-85% remaining time was mountainous backroads.

4/29/12300.023.3012.93.899

4/16/12311.025.0112.43.999

4/06/12333.024.5013.63.999

Before, on 2x6, very minimal towing, :

4/1/12308.0 25.00 12.3 3.999

2/16/12302.024.1012.53.859

1/22/12Oil Change

1/21/12 224.023.209.73.799

1/12/12307.020.2715.13.690

1/7/1223.873.699

The actual mileage didn't change bunch, on the above charts, but the GVW increase on the first chart, due to towing.I can't really run any higher than 3x6, because all it really does is roll coal and push EGTs up high; none of which are beneficial.
 4. what's the INSIDE of that jewel look like? ;)
 5. I always put an extra half or so qt in through the shifter hole, when I had the 4500. I still do, with the 5600.. Issue with the 4500 is that on ascension or decension, the 5th gear assembly can lose lubrication in certain instances.. _________________________________ additionally: As for gear oils, I researched this heavily, a few yrs ago, when I swapped my '96 47RE for a NV4500. I had to rebuild the trans shortly after that, and it wasn't hard at all. I'd never rebuilt a manual, prior to that. Fluid-wise, you can use Royal Purple SynchroMesh and SynchroMax in the 4500/5600s. Let me check my notes and I'll let you all know which goes in what trans. ----EDIT---- Dodge Trucks NV4500, 1994 & newer (GL-4: 75W85) Max-Gear 75W90 Dodge Trucks NV1500, NV3500 & NV5600, 1994 & newer (MS9224 / PN04874464) Synchromax From Royal Purple's tech sppt : For your 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins we recommend the following: Transfer Case: Royal Purple Synchromax (part #01512, quart bottle); 5.2 quarts; (w/241HD w/ power take off) Front Differential: Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90 (part #01300, quart bottle); 4.25 quarts; Rear Differential: Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90 (part #01300, quart bottle); 5.05 quarts; Power Steering: Royal Purple Max EZ (part #01326, 12-oz bottle);

 7. Correct, I agree. Often a leaky seal is due to it just getting old and drying out, which in turn, causes it to shrink a little sometimes, and cause the leak..
 8. Dave, I got these ^^ http://www.am-autoparts.com/2002/Dodge/Ram-2500-Truck/Mirrors/AM-21943512/380857.html Brackets came from local dodge dealer for like $20 pr. The bracket part numbers are: K55156128AC & K55156129AC I've had them a year or so, and I'm quite satisfied with them. I have the power/heated ones. They do shake a little at speed, but nothing I can't deal with.
 9. looking good, relentless!
 10. Cool! I loved my SJ413 ('87 HT) I rockcrawled it and I agree with you 100%; it would go just about anywhere you pointed it, period. stock 1.3L, 5spd. 4.16 tcase, 5.38 R/Ps, locked, about 13" custom lift. with 15x38.5 Ground Hawgs with 34x9.50s I had a few trail pictures, but imageshack has managed to lose/delete them...
 11. I agree on the tcase. If your chain has stretched, it could very well be slapping the inside of the case. The tcase removal is fairly easy and straight-forward.. remove skidplates if present. 6 nuts (on studs) hold the tcase to the trans. remove the driveshafts, the tcase shifter linkage, vacuum lines and connectors, and 6 nuts on the transmission-side of the tcase. (place a trans jack or equivalent under the tcase and apply a touch of pressure, but very little on it. once all is ready, gently slide the tcase backward to disengage the studs from the trans. lower tcase, and place it on a sturdy work surface. Then get busy! you may lose some trans fluid (possible, but not likely.) may as well replace any seals leaking (best to replace the front output seal at this time) and pick up a tube/can of Permatex Right Stuff gasket maker; get the gray kind. Use that to seal the tcase halves together when reassembling.. Oh, and you'll need an assortment of snap-ring pliers, of various sizes/strengths. You'll need a fairly heavy-duty set, as well. Transfer cases, in general, are quite simplistic in design.
 12. you're the exception.. LOL ZukiFreek... you didn't happen to build a monster Samurai back in the day, did you? I ask because I used to be heavy into rockcrawling, and a guy from Canada (screenname: Zukifreek, or MudZook, or something like that) had a badass blue hardtop monster Samurai..
 13. I looked into those, but none I saw were listed for the QCSB, which is apparently different than the SCLB, or QCLB.. I is cornfuzed.. 14. ahh.. I've contemplated taking mine down and putting a CB up there. The OHC is useless, anyway, and I don't use the pockets. The only downside would be the lack of maplights.
 15. First, I'd check the cardan joint on the front DS. When they go bad, they 'generally' sound like angry sparrows fighting under the truck. What generally happens (as I've experienced in the past) is that they usually get overlooked when the grease gun is used, due to them needing a needle-point style tip to grease. They dry out, then sometimes the spring breaks inside, falls out, and gets sloppy, then binds. As for the tcase, the 241 isn't a lot different than the NP231s, in respect to design, however the 241 is definitely bigger/heavier/beefier. Here's the chain layout inside the 24x tcases: This is from a 243 (push button electric) tcase tear-down. The 241 is identical inside. Only difference between the 241 and 243 is the electric actuator vs manual lever. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v35/hquick/NP243%20rebuild/
 16. Are your OHC and odometer at least on par with each other?
 17. Yeah, it's not special. plain-old metric threading.. Now, quit jacking with stuff

 20. my odometer differs from my speedo as well. even so, my OCH mileage differs from my odometer, as well, by roughly .5mi over 250mi on the odometer. (odo this weekend read 250mi, OCH showed 250.5mi.)
 21. no worries ;)I've got same as you: QCSB.BTW, how's the 100-sticks on the stock turbo? EGTs get hot, quickly?
 22. Most of the side-of-the-road "Your Speed is.." signs are not correctly calibrated, but give a good generalization.. Like ISX said, a lockup rpm with final drive and tire diameter calculation is best, but generally, a good GPS will also show you a variance. Again, it depends on the quality/accuracy of the GPS device. Tire Size Comparison Specification Sidewall Radius Dia. Circ. Revs/Mile Difference 245/75-16 7.2in 15.2in 30.5in 95.7in 662 0.0% 285/75-16 8.4in 16.4in 32.8in 103.1in 614 7.8% 7.8% @ 60mph (via speedo) is 64.7mph (actual) However, remember that this is not linear on the speedometer (i.e. @ 70mph speedo, you're doing 75.5mph actual. 35pmh = 37.8, etc.. the 7.8% is an approximation of tire size. actual is determined by going YOUR percentages.. Say, a new 245/75-16 has a circum. of 95.7". And say your 285/75s have a circ. of 103.1.. big # minus small # = difference difference divided by small # equals percentage in decimal. Move dec. point two places to the right = percentage 103.1 - 95.7 = 7.4/95.7 = .077, or 7.8% 60mph + 7.8% = 4.68 (or 4.7) totals 64.7
 23. I'm looking at adding a dump bed setup to my QCSB. "Most" kits I see are for every combo BUT the QCSB on 2G trucks. Why? WTF is so different? At any rate, anyone here have a dump bed installed? I'd prefer and OTB (over the bumper) style, and not an insert, as I've no room to store an insert when not in use.Stealth Dump Trucks, Inc. has my favorite one, but not for a 2G QCSB...EZ Dumper insert is like 1800$ and, well, it's an insert...
 24. Idea #1: change them yourself; save $800 ;)Idea #2: granted, you've got low mileage, but the truck is still 10 yrs old. It's been sitting on those ball joints for 10 yrs. Were they greased regularly, etc? Sometimes, sitting is worse on parts than moving. It's possible that little use has allowed moisture to attack and begin deterioration of the joints. just a thought, however likely.
