  1. The biggest that come my mind are electrical. As in a good clean electrical system. Good cables, clean connections, clean grounds. I have experienced some surging and dead pedal on mine a while back. It never was the APPS sensor. Turned out my 5v system had an issue with a bad wire. I did replace all my battery cables and did the WT ground mod and all has been fine for me for the past 3 years or so. A clean electrical system make a happy truck.
  2. I have never had the air bags so I cannot comment on them. It would seem that @AH64ID knows them pretty well. I have rum mine with no bags and only relied on the overload springs to keep things level and carry the load. They have done that well for the life of the truck. So how ever the stops are attached seems more than acceptable to me for the past 19 years. This is with about 6k on the rear axle. I should add, you are forgiven for the chicken joke.
  3. I went thru it about 6 years ago. My only time experiencing it and it will open your eyes. Mine shook so bad it emptied the door pockets and scared the bajeebas out me. My tires were old, 265 75 16's, so between replacing them and my track bar the problem has never come back.
  4. Some OE electrical parts were made by SMP. Cruise control switches for one.
  5. All vp44's are remans now. I dont know of anywhere you buy a new one. My original died at 75k. Most likey was replaced with a reman then. On my 4th one now at 517k. The surging could be several things.
  6. While I do like the 5600, if going for a change to it you have to weigh the options. The 5600 is definitely a bigger expense to get into. I am sure I paid a bit of a premium for it when I bought the truck. Just like the $5k extra I paid for the Cummins.
  7. The O'Rielly's one here went up to $200 out this way. It is the Standard you list. Last one of those I bought 11 months ago was 100 bucks. I cant remember what my first replacement cost but it came with the pig tail.
  8. I see yours. You cant see mine???
  9. I did mine about 3 years ago. Compressor, lines, drier for about $250 from RA, 3 months later the wifes 98 Saturn went. The compressor died. Cost me twice the money as the Dodge for the same parts.
  10. I have an electronic in mine. The only it does not do that the oe did is blink fast when the bulb is blown. Cost me a ticket in Virginia. State trooper would not even let replace the bulb on the highway. Had it in the glove box.
  11. I would buy it for 300. Mine has 517k miles on it. But I have looked at the HE351 that @Blueox01is using. Maybe one day he will tell us how its working out for him.
  12. Thats what came on my 02 manual. It was stock equipment on the 01 and 02 manual, the autos of those years had the HY but the HX will work on the autos. If you have plans for alot more HP something else would be better. How much do they want for it?
  13. The pics are beautiful. I do like the snow as long as I dont work thru it. Down my way a snow storm is a delayed mud bath.
  14. I remember replacing my OE MAP many years back and the sticker shock I got on what they cost. I cant see why they cost as much as they do. All they do is measure air pressure. What is so special about them? I have to admit I did not have much hope on the $15 one but for that kind of money I figured what the heck. If they proved bad, not much of loss.
  15. Fridayparts.com. I can get a part # when I get back home. They offer several from $15 to $200 and alot of other sensors and such. It all appears Chinese.
  16. You need to go again. Dont you feel it?
  17. 2 months later and the tranny is shifting better. I was sure there was some air trapped in the master the way I installed it. Just like the first time it has gotten better with time. So there seems to be some life in this 320k mile tranny. Not perfect but a good bit better. I never checked the linkage. But they are original and I have some new bushing to install. Just need to find the time to take it apart.
  18. Well here I am 2 months later and the $15 sensor is still working fine. Maybe some hope for it.
  19. My first leak was the evaporator. The next leak was the compressor. The first was impossible to see the dye and never could detect on the second. A new compressor fixed it. The clutch was going also so the decision was made easier.
  20. The over fill on the 5600 was to get more oil back to the 6th gear bearing as have always understood. Had nothing to do with the Sychromesh being thin. At least as far as I have read. Last time I checked a rebuild on the 5600 it was about $3k, as long as no hard parts have to be replaced. Got that from Cody at Super Stick out in texas about a year, year and a half ago. I still see folks advertising $2500 for one but know nothing about them. As far as the Syncromesh is concerned, it says on the bottle it meets Mopar specs and has since I started using it. Surely Mopar would have raised a stink if they were claiming something that was not true. Anyway I have had no issues while using it myself and there does not seem to be any failure rate attributed to just the Penzoil. None I have seen anyway.
  21. What other issues are you having? I kind of figured all was fine until you did the ground mod.
  22. If the problem statrted after the mod I would go back and check what you did to be sure all is as it should be. Did you disconnect the batteries while doing the mod?
  23. Bell housing and drive shaft come to mind.
  24. I would help my company out after if they needed someone to fill in or get a job started for someone. But my days of taking all the responsibility and the stress that goes with it are over next year. I have worked 5 of the last 6 Saturdays with probably 2 more coming. I am living to work, not the way it should be.
