Stuck in the Blueridge
Finally made it home. 6.5 hour drive turned into an 11.5 hour drive. The thing that bothers me the most is not the time, though it does suck, but sitting parked on the interstate. 4 hours and I moved 200 yards once in that time. @Dieselfuture I filled up before I left. It was only a 400 mile drive so plenty of fuel. Opening these borders may take a while until this virus tones down or maybe until a vaccine is found. The whole thing sucks. While I have worked the whole time and drawn a paycheck, the being out among a lot folks will make you think. If I get it my age and 50 years of smoking does not bode well for me if I do get it. I dont dwell on it but it is always in the back of my mind. I am grateful to be earning a paycheck but dont want to die from it. NC may be going to a partial lock down soon, according to the wife. I did not have to make the detour. We could not get to the exit to make until they cleared the wreck and got the whole interstate moving again. Back roads with exits are just to few and far between.

Stuck in the Blueridge
Well I left a week ago Thursday for a 2 day trip to Bowling Green Kentucky. Now 9 days I am headed home. I got about midway thru the mountains and we came to a stop. That was at 7:10 ET. Now its 8:55 and I made about 200 yds progress. What a night. And to add a bit insult to the injury they closed the interstate. So now about a 20 mile detour thru back country. The drive might be a nice but its dark and I bet crowded. Of course if we dont start moving soon itmwill be a moot point.

My experience with A/C
If its under the carpet thats why l would not have seen it. All I did was bolt off and bolt on.

Partial dead pedal???
I have had a failing MAP sensor do that same thing. Sometimes I would get a 236 or 237 code with it some times not. If the ECM sees little to no boost it will defuel the engine. But in that line of thought when my OE VP was dying it would do same thing except it blew blue smoke when it would happen and it never set a code. And like @Haggar said, lack of codes makes even more fun to diagnose.

Tires that don't help wander?
I have been running Cooper ATP's on mine for the last 4 sets. Great on the road and the dirt and mud on ths job. Some gravel too but very little. Great in the snow also. About 65k on each set with most of ghe miles on the highway. I got no better out of Michelins at a good bit less in price. But we dont drive in the same places.

New VP44 - Engine requires excessive cranking when hot
I dont think I have heard of anyone trying it that. It could work I guess. What effect it would have on pump I dont know. That in essence would do the same thing as the spring but outside pump. If you put it in and it does not work you just a little time and money but at least you tried. Just be sure the ball valve is safe with fuel and wont disolve anything into the fuel. You know many years back I had low pressure issue with my in tank pump. No adjutments on that pump. So I added another pump on the frame rail and ran that for 4 years or more and it worked. This was pre forums for me. Dodge just wanted to sell me another pump. I wanted a solution. Nothing ventured nothing gained I guess.

Normal Load % for Basically Stock Truck?
Mine is 1/2" from the top of the tank to the oe filter and 1/2" from there to the IP. My pickup is only 3/8". I see 4 to 4.5 psi drop. Thats on the same pump as Mike has.

Front brakes dragging
I did like mine very much towing or not. Stayed on almost all time. But the actuator failed. Its a Banks and they dont seem interested in helping with that. So I would have to drop another grand and that aint in the cards right now. But if I could find an actuator that I could adapt that might be option. I do miss having it towing or not. Plus I would like to spring for a quad, turbo and injectors. The list is endless.

Front brakes dragging
You just cant beat an exhaust brake. But they are pricey. But if you dont tow the expense might not be justified.

Coronavirus; Is it hype, blown out of proportion?
We will soon find out. My next job is close to home but in a shitty county to work in. And it is a chicken house. Back to my roots. Also the rumors of my premature demise are unfounded. I am still on the right side of the dirt. I have a niece who graduated from Boston college that is now studying in South Korea. The school flew her and a couple others back for something, dont know what now. But the first place they go to is CFA. So,I now know someone who flew from Korea to Boston to get a chicken sandwich. What's 45 minutes??

Sounds like you are not getting steady power until jump it out. Maybe something wrong with relay?? Not sure how to check that though.

Front End and 4WD
Are on concrete while turning the wheels? If so the drive line will bind since the wheels are not turning the same speed.

Coronavirus; Is it hype, blown out of proportion?
Its beyond me. I googled chicken whisperer and came up with a multitude of t shirts and 1 face mask. Oh my.

Normal Load % for Basically Stock Truck?
Your 265 70r 17's are the same size as my 265 75 16's. A little larger than Mike's but most folks here are running larger also. Which @IBMobile mod are you speaking of that might bring down temps?

New VP44 - Engine requires excessive cranking when hot
If I stated that l was mistaken at the time. My pressure is reduced during cranking in the 12 and less psi range. Kind of hard to tell since it cranks do fast. If mislead you or anyone else my apolagies. Though mine did hard start this morning cold. I was sitting nose up on low fuel tank, might have got the return line out of the fuel, dont know. Had to hold the the key on for 3 seconds or so. I filled up and shall see what happens in the am.

Beak masks are hard to come by these days. The supply chain has been comprised.

Bug screen behind grill/winter covers
@Doubletrouble the wiring harness should run across the front of the truck with a connector at each fog light location. It may be there if you look. You have yo have the head light switch that is made to operate them. Mine has an indicater that light up when they are on. The switch knob pulls out to turn them on while at lesst the marker lights are on.

Head Gasket....it finally happened......got LOTS of questions
There you go, problem solved.

Head Gasket....it finally happened......got LOTS of questions
You can remove the tappet cover with head off. With it on you pretty much have to take the VP off. One bolt is blocked. As far as the tappet cover I dont know anything about the one you linked. My OE is still working fine. I changed the gasket out while doing my HG repair.

Rear end issue
The bearing is pressed on so I dont know how hard it is to get off. Going to do mine one day since it is all the OE bearing and u joints.
-
Rear end issue
About halfway between the tranny and the rear end. It is in a bracket that is bolted to the frame. It is just one bearing supporting the 2 piece drive shaft. That is the OE set up anyway.
