My first gasser
The hardest thing I had to learn after buying my Cummins was shifting and running at the lower rpms the diesel runs at compared to my gasser. It took alittle while, especially pulling into traffic where 3500rpm was pretty normal to hit in that situation. I hope you enjoy it.

Dead Truck
I definately meant for that to be what i heard. I do not speak from experiance. When I replaced mine I installed a HO just like what came off of it. Thats my expirience.

Dead Truck
I have heard here and elsewhere you can run a SO on a HO, but not a HO on a SO.
-
Dead Truck
The 6 speed is an HO. The 5 speed and auto are SO's.

raptor fuel pump
Is there a possibility there is no check ball in the regulator assembly. It looks like the end of the regulator assembly fits the seat. I could not find an exploded veiw of it at the Pureflow site.

almost done my truck but need last minute opinions
If you do put a fp gauge in the pillar mount, drill avery small hole in the bottom of the pod the gauge is in. If it starts leaking you will know very quickly. I have a mechanical in mine and did that when i installed it. It did leak about 3 weeks later and i knew before it ran down the pillar and made a mess. I still run my finger over the hole every so often to be sure all is well.

Changing coolant question..... Distilled or not?
I have been using well water at home for the past 20 years and whatever came out of the tap anywhere else. Mine looks verymuch like Mike's. I never really gave it much thought. I dont have any staining problem with the well water, it is fairly clean. Never had any problems with the vehicles either.

intermittent miss on 3 different trucks
Have you tried disconnecting the edge/bully dog and see if the miss is still there?

1800 miles 12.5 mpg towing
1800 to 2100 is a good cruising rpm for me. i will go higher when pulling a grade, maybe 2500 or 2600. It all just depends on the situation I find myself. No dyno sheets here, Ijust do what feels right.

p1693 + P0500...
I like Rogan's explanation better. Rain and bigfoot make tires spin=P500.:tease:I like your version too Mike, thats how i learned about it.

p1693 + P0500...
Spinning the rear tires will generate that code. I have set it in mine several times.

Heated mirrors
Did you already have heated electric mirrors? Not tow mirrors just regular ones.

Start up idle time
I usually idle mine for 30 seconds before I move. then I dle out of the rv park I am for another 2 minutes, then on the highway at under 2k rpm until I see the tempgauge move up or the oil pressure gauge start moving down. This for 25* and up, if it is colder i will idle it a few minutes more. I still take it easey until i see one of the gauges moving. I very seldom see any temps out of the teens. You might consider pugging it in for temps that lower than the teens.

1800 miles 12.5 mpg towing
I do agree with what you are saying. That is why I asked pepsi how fast he was driving. If I am traveling the Interstate I run the speed limit, be it 55 or be it 70. I know slowing down will help with the mpg with less wind drag and speed. Most of my trips start on Friday afternoon and have to be at work on Monday morning so a sacrifice of mpg for less time on the road is personal choice i am willing to make.

My truck chugs random, HELP!!!
happy to hear you got it fixed.

1800 miles 12.5 mpg towing
I have never seen over 10.3 in mine since it was new. How fast are you driving to get 15?
-
Heated mirrors
The 03 mirrors will not fit the second gen.

Front hitch??
naught + naught = naught, right? or is that naught X naught = naught? where is Jethro when you need him?
-
1800 miles 12.5 mpg towing
If you can find it under the plumbing:lmao2:. That is another reason i love it, open the hood i can see the engine front to back, both sides. it runs, pulls, and gets better milage than when it was new. Upgrades have provided the mileage, but the rock solid engine has provided the foundation for that.

Front hitch??
you dont need a front hitch then, just 5 miles of cable. tow yourself.
