  1. Unit bearing (outer bearing) would have to come off for axle shaft to be removed. You could put it back together but the tube would be open and gear oil everywhere. I guess you could stuff a rag inside. Quite a job for along side the road. I'd personally look for a tow. On second thought that wouldn't even work. Need the shaft in or the unit bearing would not have a nut on and would come apart. Unless you'd dis-assemble the axle joints and just use the outer shaft for retaining purposes.
  2. I'll let the owner do the talking about his. A local farmer here has a HUGE bank of panels. It's enough to power the farm on a good year he told me. He turns them twice a year to catch the best sun angle for the time of year. You'll see them either laying nearly flat or on about a 45 angle. I forget which way fro which time though. His he has to do manually with the attached screw jacks.
  3. I'm no help. I thought Ubuntu's were an animal that lived in Africa.
  4. Fit a piece of oak to go in the stake pocket. Put a strap around it, come-along through the strap and other end to a tree or other solid object. Pull carefully and watch what happens, and like I said take measurements along the way. Bed sides are pretty flimsy when you look at them. Shouldn't take 50 ton to pull it.
  5. That was a hell of a jolt. Ripped the stack out of the bed and dumped it behind the axle Seriously that sucks. Least it could have done was hit the hitch. Probably would have saved the gate. I like DF's suggestion. You might have to pull it further than need be because it will want to spring back. I'd have a tape handy and measure each pull so you don't go too far. Reference off the straight side and go like a 1/4" at a time. I'd also park in gear next time.
  6. Careful now, mines full of chicken soup
  7. I know, but I wanted to a little too.
  8. How do you get a boost reading if you put the boost bolt in place of a head bolt/stud?
  9. Hmmm. How about trying an APPS reset? Not saying it'll fix but it's free, and easy enough you could print out the procedure here and give it to him or talk him through it over the phone. Many here like the Timbo APPS ( sold in the forum store) much better than an OEM that a shop will want to install. It's a simple mechanical design that's proven and a whoooolle lot cheaper, like $170 I think. Just some options.....
  10. Have a live data tool like a Scangage2, OBDlink, etc you can drive with and see what the APPS is doing voltage wise? Edit: I see you said you don't have a Snap On scanner. One of the ones I listed will read it as well. An OBDlink MX is like $80.
  11. WELCOME! I do recognize you from over there. I just visited the new 'improvement' What a mess! Lots of upset members. Maybe they'll jump over too. You'll get lots of good advise here. I'll just say quickly for now that it sounds like AC noise is in check. Also make sure your battery connections are good, grounds are good and clean, and batteries are in good shape. These trucks are very finnicky in the electronics dept. and bad connection/grounds have caused me issues over the years. More helps on the way............... like right now. I see @Tractorman beat me to it!
  12. Hoping that earthquake has not affected you on top of it all.
  13. I've been drinking apple cider vinegar nearly every morning for a while now. I'm a believer in it. Might try peroxide too if I can ever find any again. My aunt used to flush her sinuses every morning with vinegar. I'm not that tough yet. I like the way hard cider makes everything else feel good after drinking
  14. Here we go again...............
  15. That's good. A messy chicken 'bottom' is a crisis in itself. I had to read that twice. I was wondering how a redneck brunette could help the situation
  16. Funny how in times of crisis the smallest things bring us joy, but when times are good $100 could fall from the sky and we wouldn't be impressed. Maybe there's a silver lining to the corona cloud?
  17. 100%. I had this issue at camp years ago. Not long enough trips in the cold weather to re-charge and by the end of the week I could hardly start my truck. Switching the grids is the most helpful thing I've ever done to my truck, well, other than changing out the 53 block..........
  18. My mileage sucks too when my exhaust gets blocked
  19. Line runs from vac. pump up to firewall and then splits off from there. One tell tale sing is heater controls not working, and cad style front axle not engaging. I see you have a 2wd so the later won't apply in your case.
  20. I remember one of your moms replies to a thread. She mentioned she was from Ukraine. By the looks of her prayer shrine she was of the Catholic faith. I am not Ukrainian, but belong to a UC Church. We have quite a few Rosalie's there. Pretty common name for a Uky girl. If you would like I can have a Mass said in her intention. It's the best thing we can do for the dearly departed IMO. I lost my mom in 08, and dad in 17. Still dream about them and break down pretty regularly. I don't see it as a sign of weakness but a sign of how much I loved my parents. It gets easier but you never forget them, nor should you.
  21. Ahhh, there it is. I was wondering where I put it.....
  22. Wish I would have saved my OBS PS wheels when I see your truck
  23. The title to this thread almost made me chicken to open it
  24. It aint easy being me, but I try hard.
