  1. I believe my DANA 70 housing is damaged and while searching CL for a replacement I found a DANA 80 SRW from an 02. What are the downsides to swapping out? Weight and rotating mass, anything else? Should it bolt up?
  2. Not personally. I'm on a VP44 page on Facebook, and lots of guys run them. If the numbskulls on that page can't destroy anything using those studs, they must be pretty decent. When the time comes I may install a set.
  3. I hooked my Filter Minder to my Mity-Vac one time and got it to move. Maybe with a heavy load, high RPM, and obviously dirty filter it would move.
  4. Where did you measure the 9 volts at the relay? Was that the red wire (connection #30), at the red/lt green wire (#87), or somewhere else? What did you use for a ground when measure the voltage? Did you measure the voltage of the brown/white wire (#86)? If you aren't getting 12V at #86, it may not be enough juice to consistently operate the relay. If your G102 ground was bad, I would imagine you'd be having other problems, too. That's the ground for (#85) the relay. If (#86) doesn't have 12V or more, does (#36) coming out of the ECM? I imagine it does if you've sent off the computer that many times! But, that wire may have a corroded connector, or bad spot in the wire.
  5. I wish I could help with this! Hopefully someone will come along with a short list of items to check. My guess out of left field is that there's a bad wire splice, corrosion, etc. somewhere upstream of the relay. Or, the proverbial bad ground.
  6. At $76 from RAuto, I won't be replacing mine until something actually goes wrong. Or, perhaps when I place an order damn near the entire A/C system. I've got a leak somewhere, and also the condenser has a large amount of its bottom rows blocked off due to PO's interaction with a deer. For all I know the oil is all piled up there, upstream of the smashed circuits. Now that I'll be driving the kids around more (wife starts a new job in July), I want the A/C to work. Unlike my dad's old vehicles from when I was that age, these new vehicles aren't designed to be cooled with windows open. And, highway speeds are much faster and thus louder.
  7. Hmm... Maybe my truck is in need a fan clutch, too! I thought maybe for these trucks the fans were supposed to be hard to move by hand. It sure doesn't free spin, even at shutoff from 800 RPM.
  8. I'm pretty sure they left out the word "more"... As in flow 80% more than stock.
  9. I hope I'm done with that for a long while, now that my HE351W is installed.
  10. "Livin' that BOAF life." The highest pitches coming from the turbo are extra annoying now. I may have to cut up a (metal due to heat?) 5 gallon bucket or something to see if I can attenuate that ruckus.
  11. I'm officially in the Big Obnoxious Air Filter club!
  12. I would think the Wagner should be a quality piece. If I had to buy one, I'd get the Hayden - they maybe who makes them for Cummins. Or if sold out, the Four Seasons as I believe they are a Standard Motor Products brand and may also be an OEM supplier. SMP makes or made NAPA Echlin electrical parts.
  13. I just reached in with my finger and wiped it off each blade, but the turbo has only been installed a couple thousand miles.
  14. That's what it has on it, a WIX stock-style panel in the stock airbox. It's pretty good, but with stock reman injectors and my conservative driving habits there's not much to talk about! I still haven't done anything about the wastegate, but have been in recent contact with the BenzForce gentleman, sending him photos and dimensions. He said he's been pretty busy with some other project but now is looking at this again. My free time to address the wastegate will be in short supply for a couple of months, so hopefully the baling wire holds a while longer!
  15. That's what I thought. @dripley, at 517k miles and counting, even if you're doing something wrong, it's good enough for me!
  16. Wednesday I should have a Donaldson BHAF. Is there a consensus on whether a heat shield is required, especially at low HP levels? Seems like radiant heat from turbo could damage the filter material, but real world testing by those without a shield seems to indicate it's a non-issue.
  17. I had a front blowout in a Ford 15-passenger van. At night, in the cold rain, on Interstate 70, with a bunch of paying passengers in the van. That sucked. I made about $7.50 per hour and got no tips that day because another driver came to pick them up.
  18. I did, but had forgotten about it. I guess a BHAF is in my near future...
  19. Is this a normal amount of dirt on the compressor blades? Turbo only installed a couple thousand miles. I run a stock style WIX air filter and it's fairly new and clean.
  20. Taller tires won't affect caster angle, but will affect trail. The caster trail is essentially a moment arm trying to "straighten" the steering. Wikipedia is only as good as those who write the article but this one seems pretty good at explaining it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caster_angle
  21. I can't imagine that a Wal-Mart battery is worth 29% more than a Costco battery. I bought two DEKA Gold batteries for around $135 each, including sales tax. To me that's worth a premium, but not Everstart.
  22. LMC is a big warehouse. They don't make anything, but like Geno's they may have things made FOR them. I didn't know much about the LMC units when I bought mine, so really liked the idea of the ABS plastic Geno's version. I knew at the time all I wanted was something SO DIFFERENT from the OEM model that there was no way I'd have the same problems with it cracking! Knowing what I know now, I'd likely buy the LMC version if cost was the same, especially if I didn't have to paint it and cost was similar.
  23. I used the Geno's dash for some reason. Considering I drive past LMC to drop the kids off at daycare it really makes no sense! Anyway, the Geno's has been in my truck for a couple years, so hard to judge. The fit was good, I believe I did have to trim somewhere where they said it would be possible. Great instructions. Of course I had to paint/dye it to Agate Gray. I should have bought two cans instead of one. I give myself a C- at best on the results. I think I used Color Bond.
  24. I'm glad you all haven't had problems. A quick search of other forums or online search for Adrenaline reviews will prove that I'm not alone - and that more than one person has purchased another product due to reading the feedback on connectivity. Hopefully part of the next generation design that Mike said he's working on with Quadzilla is a means to either locate the iQuad in the cab with a wire through the firewall to the Adrenaline itself, or just a mini/micro/USB-C/Apple-connector-of-the-week plug. I can go weeks with no problem, then BAM later in the same day fight it until I'm red hot pissed. It's like it knows when I want to make a change to the tune, level, or just want to tow that day and want the additional gauges available (trans, fuel temp, etc.) It's no big deal if it doesn't connect for a daily commute to work, as I have a fuel pressure gauge.
