  1. Are you referring to the link CSM posted? I have had that same switch installed since I rebuilt my trans, it is only good for 3rd gear if the OD button is pushed in and 4th all other times. It will not lock 2nd. If you know of a way without plugging the port in the VB, I would definitely be interested. I don't feel comfortable going that route, I'd be afraid of whatever I put in there coming loose.
  2. The only way I've ever heard of 2nd lock up is by plugging a hole off in the VB. The method CSM linked is for 3-4 lock.up only.
  3. That's the standard lockup for 3-4 gears, bcbigfoot was talking about 2nd lockup
  4. Don't you have to pull the VB and plug off a port, or is there another way to do this?
  5. Its really all in good fun, nothing personal. That's whats great about this site, you won't see people verbally attacking anyone for any reason. Sure, we can all disagree on a subject, but the difference is nobody gets thrown under the bus around here. I personally am somewhat partial to Fords, I've owned several over the years and I've got two sitting in my driveway right now (Mountaineer and a Mustang). Every Ford I've ever owned treated me well. I think the majority of the poking you will see here is more related to the PowerStrokes, I think it's safe to say there isn't very many fans of them around here at all, including myself. I've got some friends that are diehard Ford guys from back in the days of the 7.3. Many of them have moved onto the newer generations with the 6.0 and 6.4. I see the money they spend under the hood of those trucks and I have to shake my head. Sometimes that brand loyalty can really make a fella go broke! BTW, welcome aboard!
  6. CSM FOR PRES!!!! Awe inspiring!!!!
  7. You are on the right track, the resistor is supposed to go inline to the ground.
  8. believe me, I've done much worse, that cost alot more!
  9. The reason for the discussion on the lock up is to distinguish the difference between the trans shifting into lock up and shifting into another gear. They are not the same. I've ridden in a truck with a 6k dollar Suncoast trans/twin disc convertor and my 3000 dollar Dean Bower special with a single holds every bit as well.
  10. How are they holding up Rick? I have never been a dually owner and havent paid much attention to them but what Mindless is saying seems logical. Most any tire will have the weight ratings stamped on the casing for a single wheel and a dual and therecommended pressure doesnt change.
  11. I would try to splice it back together first, preferably solder it either way you will want to get it sealed up with some shrink tube to keep all the crap out of the connection. And tie this one back a little farther!
  12. Whats troubling is where is the source of all this money coming from that the govt has?Much of it is in the form of PROMISE notes, which doesnt even exist in physical form. OR, it is borrowed from other countries with the PROMISE that it will be paid back, or worse yet in exhchange for a higher stake in our countries economics. One day they will stop bailing us out and we will be forced to turn the keys over to someone else.
  13. :cry:I promise you are not feeling a 5th gear. I know exactly what you are referring to, and that is lockup, NOT an extra gear. It comes from the factory as a 4 speed, and no how no way is the best builder ever going to squeeze an extra gear in a case thats designed as a 4 speed. Next time you drive your truck, listen and feel for it. The 1,2,3, shifts should be very definitive. Then, when it goes into lockup (not 4th) it will almost feel like a half gear. Then from lock up it will go right to lock up in 4th UNLESS you are on a steep grade or pulling heavy, then it will go from 3rd lockup to 4th, then lockup. So essentially you can feel the trans shift as many as 6 times, but will only shift gears 4. I hope that helps, it is the best my simple mind can describe it.
  14. Maybe this will help persuade you, since we can't. http://www.dieselhub.com/trans/47RE.html Dig the full moon!
  15. For whatever reason I have never had any codes related to the converter and no resistor in line. Strange...
  16. The 47re is a 4 speed trans, unfortunately. I would love that extra gear, just what they need.47 stands for 4 speed, torque rating of 7.48re is a 4 speed, torque rating of 8.68rfe is a 6 speed, torque rating of 8.
  17. in my brother in laws fsm, it states that adding any kind of lubricity additive to the fuel system is not reccommended. I'm guessing it has to do with the dpf equipment. Someone who owns one could probably answer this much better than I can. Rather than looking for different opinions I would go directly to the owners manual or fsm, it will be important to follow their advice to maintain any warranty.
  18. Rick,I had asked that question about the capacity earlier in the thread as well but didn't get a response. I'm guessing the only downfall would be you have a slightly slower filtering rate, but still better than none?
  19. How does the gasket for the lens look Russ? I have seen them dry up and get real hard over time, I generally rub a light coat of dielectric grease around the seal to keep them pliable and to help seal the lense when I put it back on.Depending on how well the wire is sealed coming in from the back I suppose it could get in through there as well.
  20. He's probably too busy frying the tires off that monster, with a Sh*t eating grin as wide as the truck!
  21. You tested the voltage with the key on? Have you tried disconnecting your Edge to make sure thats not giving you a problem? Don't just turn it off, completely disconnect it. Sounds like a malfunctioning programmer to me. Won't cost anything to try, at least.
  22. The dealer should eat the pcm and most of the labor that is just ridiculous they burned that much money up of yours without fixing the problem!
  23. If you find that 5th gear, please let me know!!
  24. I don't think I would add anything unless you need an anti gel for extreme cold. Not reccommended according to my brother in law who owns a 6.7. Gotta remember theyre designed to run off the dry ulsd.
  25. I cut a chunk of 4" pvc pipe about 4" long, it fits snugly in the inlet of the air filter and gives the clamp something tight to bite down onto.
