Automatic Transmission Cooling
They will stay the coolest when in lock up, and will generate a lot more heat in fluid coupling. As far as running in 2 low, depends on how fast your driving. Any faster than 25 or 30 mph and I think I would stay on the high side. I have done it before but it was also a secondary road (if you could call it that) in poor condition and I probably averaged no more than 20 mph. It doesnt take much to really wind em up on the low side. How big is your trailer, and what kind of grade are you climbing?

Added sport grille... sport headlights and bumper coming soon.
A steel bumper would be my 1st choice as well, so many deer running around not to mention livestock that tends to get free (believe it or not it is fairly common) I would prefer a steel over sport bumper any day. But in the 6 or 7. Yrs I have owned a Dodge I have yet to come across one I am willing to put the money out for and I am kind of afraid of that extra weight as well. If he's asking even fair market value for these sport bumpers, I'll probably pass, not that they aren't worth it, I'm just that cheap.

I initially thought you already had one?? But rereading your post you said "coming soon" as in you don't yet have one....sorry bud but only one truck, and I haven't even got a set price out of the guy yet.... He has finally agreed he is ready to sell, hopefully the price will be right.

Thank you I did not know that. The truck and bumpers are that lighter colored blue, almost like a sky blue (not sure of the name of the color). I would gladly trade you if it helped you as I will have to repaint regardless, but I don't think it is what you are looking for.

Anyone dyno with and without BHAF ?
I can't see any gains or losses taking place over the stock air box unless you exceed the stock boxes capabilities and then it becomes more of a restriction. I would either do a bhaf or stick with the stock box, the CAI just aren't worth the money unless your strictly going for performance and big power. The typical daily driver really isn't going to benefit from one. Without looking at my records, I'm guessing I've got over 30k on my bhaf and my filter minder has not even moved yet. Lots and lots of life left out of it.

I have been harrassing a guy locally here to part with the sport bumpers off of a half ton that has been sitting out in his field for the last year. Last I talked to him he said he would think about what he wanted for them, if he prices them reasonable they will be mine

NHRDA????
Hey Dripley, how long are you in Terre Haute for? Scheid Extravaganza is sometime in late August IIRC. I had plans on going last year but couldn't get away from work.

stranded in small town MT
Where in PA are you moving? I'm within a mile of the OH/PA border. Sorry to hear of your troubles, hope you can get it resolved quickly.

I'll never forget this...
Yeah towing heavy in OD in lockup can get you in trouble egt wise pretty quick. But your saying even in 3rd lock up your egt gets out of control?

I'll never forget this...
A 12 yrs old driving an 18 whewheeler and you weren't the least bit scared? That puts you in the realm of the man upstairs, that or you were staying in a Holiday Inn Express at the time :lmao:Seriously though, I wasn't too far behind yoU at 14 when I began working for my grandfather in the summers during hay season on his ranch in Wyoming. I remember pulling hay wagons up out of the river bottom that were way too heavy for the 79 Chevy 1 ton 4x4 with a 4 Speed I was in and being absolutely terrified. The only thing that scared me more was the thought of telling my grandfather I couldn't do it or anything else he asked me to do. He was a hard man to please and I was damned if I was gonna disappoint him in any way if I could help it. I remember having a conversation with him years later and admitted to him for the first time how scared I was doing some of the things he asked me to do those first few summers I was there. He knew all along.

I agree DRipley, it's almost a shell shock the first few times your hooked heavy and does take a little getting used to. But that's a good thing, the ones that aren't scared and brag are the ones that worry me. It just goes to show that you CARE, and are PAYING ATTENTION. Nothing wrong at all with that.

How can you not, love this...Diesel power S.A. style...

I'll never forget this...
Next time your truck lugs too much to remain in OD, try backing out of the throttle a little and hit the OD button. This will drop you to 3rd but will keep the converter locked vs the truck downshifting on its own and remaining unlocked. This will keep your trans temp down and transmit all your power to the wheels, much better than in an unlocked condition. The only thing you will need to keep an eye on is your egt's with the converter locked, but 9 times out of 10 that is the best way to go. And don't be shy to run the ol girl up to 2400+ rpm's, you won't hurt a thing. you will see a drop in egt over lugging it in OD and believe it or not use less fuel. Towing with the 47 is a bit of an art with the wide gear ratio

24 valve P7100 swap
How does this work for injectors Ryan? Can the P Pump pop the same injectors as the vp?

New 4" exhaust!
My Diamond Eye exhaust came with no tip and was full length, and exited directly behind the rear wheel. I didn't care for the way it looked so I cut the exhaust at the last 45* bend, and rotated it so that it exits at a slight down angle and more towards the rear of the truck. I also made a mitre cut on the end to improve the looks. I painted my rear tail assembly with an etching primer and flat black and it looks good enough I don't plan on buying a tip for it.

What size welder
They are definitely an entry level machine. Would probably be OK for the guy doing a couple of small jobs a year. For any kind of continuous duty cycles or something you wanted to hang onto for 10 years I would look into a Miller or Linclon

Tires: Treadwright
Just make sure theyre not building excessive heat at the lower pressures if your running loaded like that.Glad theyre working out for you, I'll be in the market for a set before winter and might take a closer look at a set of all seasons.

Aggravated Compass and Mileage Computer
I would agree on the fleetgaurd filters. Fleetgaurd is Cummins. As far as Amsoil, it no doubt is a good oil and if I was ever going to use Amsoil it would be in the trans I have never used it though.I just use the Chrysler Spec ATF+4 it is a synthetic based oil and is pretty good oil IMO. Any synthetic gear oil will work well in the rear diff

Head stud install help
Depends on what kind of boost your running. I would talk to the manufacture of the head studs your looking at and ask them what kind of pressures your stock gasket will hold up to with their studs

Head stud install help
As long as you don't have any threads boogered up there should be no reason to tap any holes. Are you replacing the head gasket as well or just replacing the studs one at a time?
