  1. Having an issue and just starting to look for the cause. Have a 1999 24v with a 5 speed transmission that will shut down after you let off the accelerator when you accelerate hard. After it dies you have to crank the engine excessively to get it to restart. At times it won't restart unless you pull/coast start it or bleed the injector lines.

I'm getting ready to install a Transgo Shift Kit in my 47re and I'm looking for some tips from some of you guys that have already been there. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey there guys... here's my situation. After having no problems I parked in front of my work. Came out for lunch and truck would not start. This has never happened with this truck, always kicked right off. I had my truck towed home, and trouble shot what I thought was the Raptor liftpump was inop, as no fuel was getting to the VP44. Had them send me a new pump as this was in warranty, and I installed it yesterday. I got the truck started, and thought everything was OK. Went to drive it about an hour later and had to crank it for probably 20 seconds before it started rough, then smoothed out. I was going to go into town with it, but as I was driving there I thought…

Hey guys, I have been poking around here for some time but mainly active on CF. I have been wanting to get more active here, so here we go! I have been getting TC lockup issues for 3-4 days now and its getting worse. I pulled out my meter and sure enough, she's blowing .045-.052, she's toast. So I am willing to spend a little more on an alternator and hoping to not play roulette with china crap form local box stores. Where should I order from? Im hoping to keep my core since its a OEM original unit. I could possibly rebuild it for later. Im leaning on the Denso Hairpin 180 from Nations. However, I was reading somewhere about a better one from the dodge dealer t…

So I've decided on the 4in DE exhaust. I've heard nothing but good things and buying from a local and US made product is always a good thing IMO. A couple questions... When the exhauat says it comes with a "muffler replacement" is that the equivalent of muffler delete? Also I'd rather not use my stock exhaust clamps, what are some good clamps I could get and how many would I need? Thanks in advance!

My transmission (47re) was shifting hard for a little while, and then I lost overdrive. I replaced the filter and solenoids on the trans and the hard shifting stopped but I still don't have overdrive. I replaced the APPS sensor less than 10k ago. I have read on here about a band being to tight or lose, but I don't know what this band is or if its slang. Please help, and thanks for the time.

It won't be long and it'll be that time. I recently bought this truck, previous owner used regular rotella. I am considering full synthetic rotella oil. In the manual it says 7500 miles between changes, would that extend if synthetic is used? For those of you that run synthetic, what interval do you change yours? Just a curious question to see if the extra expense has more advantage than just better oil. Thanks

When looking up the tightening specification for installing the bolts that hold the flywheel or drive plate to the crankshaft I found two different values. In the engine section under "Crankshaft Oil Seal - Rear" the tightening torque given is 101 ft. lbs. In the "Automatic Transmission 47RE- Torque Specifications" chart the number given is 55 ft. lbs. One of these is a mistake; which one is right?

Alright guys I have some questions regarding rv275 injectors. I've decided that these injectors will more then likely be what I go with when the time comes to upgrade mainly because I'm just looking for a mild boost in fueling without getting EGTs too crazy because I still want the truck to be able to tow a house. Questions are... -How big (hp wise) are the rv275s? I've heard multiple different claims -Are all rv275s created equal? Bosch vs DFI for example? -Biggest turbo could reasonably run on rv275s (with towing in mind)

  10. The Diesel shop got to my truck. They'll be back on my truck today... so I need advise ASAP!! You'll recall the dealership told me "No Codes", "Zero Fuel Pressure", "You need a lift pump" ($600 to replace OEM, $1200 to retrofit in tank)... charged me $88 for diagnositic. The diesel shop pulled codes P1689, P0230, P0232, P1693. Apparently there is a test sequence which can test the lift pump.. it ran. AAARRRGGGHHH!!! P0230 - Transfer Pump (Lift Pump) Circuit Out of Range Problem detected in fuel transfer pump circuits. P0232 - Fuel Shutoff Signal Voltage Too High Fuel shut-off signal voltage too high from ECM to fuel injection pump. …

Hey Gang...Just to skip hunting over the site I know you guys can spit out the place to get vacuum pump rebuild kit. Mine is finally starting to leak engine oil and getting the side of the block hosed with engine oil. Not enough to drip on the floor of the shop but it won't be long. So could you point to the information on the vacuum pump rebuild kit and any helpful hint would be great.

  12. First time posting, I've used your advice on many previous issues reading different forums and such. Hopefully you can shoot a clear answer for me here cause I'm stuck. 1999 Dodge Cummins, I've had periodic dead pedal for the last 2 years. Would drop to an idle at highway speed and no throttle response. Shut truck off, turn back on, problem went away. Now the truck is stuck at a slightly high idle at 1,100 RPM. No Throttle response at all. I just replaced APPS with Napa replacement. No different. -Vp44 replaced 3 years ago Some other history: -one day no gauges worked and got (No Bus) on odometer. Next day "problem fixed itself" -A mo…

  13. Hello, I have followed this forum for years but just joined today. Because i've got a sad sad story. I hope you guys dont get this code. Looking for some help maybe. Reading over the forums from this site and cumminsforum, i now fear my ecm has died. Truck running fine after 45 min freeway drive. Get off freeway and truck starts to act funny. Gauges going ape ****(including temp gauge going full hot and then back to cold). Pedal goes more and more unresponsive. (dead pedal). Rpm's are uncontrolled. Truck Rpm all over the place. Truck lost its marbles. In limp mode with rms going full retard.(never go full retard) limp it…

  14. hey all...I had a stuck injector last weekend so I replaced them with some even bigger ones (220hp vs 175) bc they were the only ones I could find on the saturday of memorial day weekend. Is it obvious with how the truck idles if there's an issue with the connector tubes? I dont know if there is, but the truck idles meaner with the new injectors anyways so a comparison to before isnt fair. The truck appears to be running fine, but it is way smokier than before. I know that could be the injectors just being bigger and smokier. We couldnt find any connector tubes over the holiday weekend so we reused the old ones that have been tightened on multiple times, and clearly over…

Guys,I thought I would post this up since I had trouble finding the information anywhere online in one place. Our transfer case models are either NP 241 DLD or NP 241 DHD. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to whom got which, though I suspect that more DHD's were installed in the 3500 series. My TC is the 241 DLD. This has the "2 part" or "2 piece" tail shaft extension. (the DHD had a 1 piece extension)BE careful. I have found sites that say the 241 DHD uses the same extension housing, but that is totally impossible. Don't buy into it. also a guy on ebay has an extension at a good price, but each time you click his links, it takes you to 2500 and 3500 diesel qu…

Going to head to a local muffler shop tomorrow to get either the muffler or resonator taken off my stock system. I assume it would be a better idea to delete the muffler and keep the resonator. I would appreciate some input on which to do and has anyone done this. I just want to get a little more sound out of my truck but not have too much in cab drone. A friend did both and the sound is nice. But the best part is the cost. They only charged him 80 bucks to do both plus a chrome tip. Can't even get a muffler delete pipe online for that price. Thanks in advance. L8tr D

Need some help, I just put a boost gauge in the truck and I noticed it’s only making 5-10psi. The RPMs are near 2k to hit 10 psi. The turbo sounds like it’s spooling like it should, I checked for boost leaks but I couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary. I know these trucks aren’t meant to be fast but it shouldn’t be as slow as it is now.

  18. 1999 dodge Cummins 2500 truck has 168k with a DDT tranny installed about 120k miles ago . It has a smart controller installed to keep the torque converter locked up for the BD exhaust brake to slow me down while hauling my slide in camper . Third / forth gear lockup at 50 mph kicks out at 30 mph. 275 hp Rv injectors and edge set on high about 300 hp. Tranny built for this much horsepower. This my set up. 10 amp fuse in PDF blows when key is turned on. Has code p0753. Relay is good horn test. And pin 21 on the PCM READS 33.3 OHMS. Pan has not been down yet. I need good advice on what to do next ?

  19. I just want to get everyone's thoughts on tapping my injection pump. From what I've read, if the pump is going to fail from being re-manufactured improperly it will fail within the first month or couple thousand miles. I've had my industrial injection on since Christmas and have had Zero issues. I have a stealth plate, but they can still see the pricked wire when it's torn apart, and they can see the top bolts have been removed ( Probably voiding the warranty ). I'll probably be putting my he351cw on in the beginning of June and I think the comp, 100's and turbo would match really well. Let me know what your thoughts are! Thanks in advance

I finally (been busy lately) got around to completing the installation the other day of my Fuel Boss mechanical fuel pump on my truck.I bypassed the stock lift pump all together. You can still hear the stock lift pump cycle when you first start/bump the key on the truck. I know sooner or later it is going to stop working and trip the check engine light. My question is..if I pulled the fuse for the lift pump will that make the check engine light come on? Or if I unplug the wiring harness to the stock lift pump will that make the check engine light come on? I want to disable the stock lift pump some way since I am no longer using it but I don't want the check engine lig…
