Did a search, found no info on this. Can someone inform me as to how we do this? As I understand you remove an outlet hose and pump out old and pump in new. Any cleansers necessary? Where do indisconnect the outlet line and how to tell which is outlet?

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a nice holiday season. I believe that I have another random electrical gremlin but not sure where to start. So, it started the other morning on the way to the office, the truck started randomly surging as I was cruising down the interstate. I was traveling between 65 and 70mph, and it feels like the truck is accelerating on it own. I can hear the engine raise RPM’s about 100 RPM and I can feel the truck accelerate for about .5- 1 sec, then it goes back to normal and then it happens again. It is totally random, sometimes it happens at slower speeds and sometimes it only happens when driving at highway speeds, and sometimes it does not hap…

Started having an issue a couple days ago. Had to crank the engine over way longer than normal. Drove to work and shut the truck off and it started right back up. Tried about 15 minutes later and the hard start issue returned. The angle the truck is parked doesn't seem to have any effect on the issue. Have tried completely removing the edge comp and it was no help. Checked for any codes, none stored. Checked over the fuel system and didn't have any leaks. Has bluish white smoke when it does finally start. Seems to start easier and faster if I give it a little throttle while cranking. Runs great after getting it started. --- Update to the previous post... Thought…

I have a 1999 2500 Cummins 24v that keeps getting the p0122 tps low voltage code on every tps the first time I changed it, it lasted a week then got another dead pedal so I replaced it again thinking I got a faulty tps and the new one last 2 days and I got the p0122 code again and the truck surges off and on. Ive did the reset procedure and it idles fine. Any ideas to what could be causing me to keep getting these problems thanks.

Well gents I have put over 30,000 miles on this truck since I purchased it and I have had an interesting knocking noise. It is beginning to bug me so I plan on finding whats causing it. I have been told cracked flexplate, loose converter bolts (checked a few days ago all tight), loose flexplate bolts on the crank and even cracked pistons. The engine has over a quarter million miles and there is some mild blow-by (within spec) and oil analysis shows low wear metals. The transmission is built and the converter is custom (triple disk billet). Injectors are currently 4% balanced and of course the wrong VP44 . Any ideas please let me know. I would prefer to not p…

  7. Has anyone swaped a auto to a manual? How much did it run you to do it? I want to do this in the future and want to get some ideas on what I am looking at here. Is it a do it yourself or do you have to have someone do it for you. i am mechanically inclined but not an trained mechanic. Any idea on this. Thanks:thumb1:

  8. Ok Gang... I've seen a bunch of you wondering about needle valves... Well here I'm going to explain the reason and why needle valves should be used on all fuel pressure gauges including electric gauges. Now first thing first is why do we need a needle valve? Well the needle valve is a adjustable damper for the fuel flow. It prevents harsh or water hammer pulses from reaching the gauge or sender. What is water hammer? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_hammer Here is what the pulse looks like... But now figure that is pulse open and close at half the RPM's but for 6 cylinder. This pulsation with eventually wear out or eat the gears…

What should the stock transmission fluid temp be when cruising? I just got my gauge back from Westach that has had the pointer stuck since I installed it. I have the sensor on the transmission line, not in the pan so I know it will be a bit cooler there. Haven’t gotten around to installing the port in the pan yet. Yesterday it was 45 degrees out and the temps indicated from 100 to 110-not towing anything. She rolled over 114,000 miles and y’all have me thinking my transmission might be getting short in the tooth.

Folks, in 2010, I put the Dodge in tank Lift Pump retrofit into my 99. Its been rock solid since. As some of you might know, I have recently made a bunch of changes to my truck (ECM, Inj Pump, 275 Bosch injectors, 2000 Fuel Filter housing) and this afternoon the lift pump pressure started doing wonky things. its normally around 18 or 19 @ idle, and 14 or 15 cruising down the highway. Sunday I took the truck/Trailer/Buggy for a ride to make sure it was happy with the hills around my area & it seemed to be quite happy. when I got home I put the trailer away & filled up the truck to see what kind of mileage I got (10 BTW). …

Like the title says, my transmission is hard to shift. Real notchy, and sometimes a bastard to put into gear or reverse. It's rebuilt, and has maybe 400 miles on it. Running Lucas 50wt oil as recommended. But it just doesn't feel right. In another post I stated I had the clutch pedal adjusted way our to get rid of the slop of no bushing. The clutch seems to release ok, it doesn't crawl when in gear. But I worry it's something else. I will say when I put the transmission back in I fought to put it in the last tiny bit in the pilot bearing. Had to torque it down, but I did it as slowly and gently as I could, and the gap was less than half an inch when I started. Not sure if …

  12. I have noticed recently that my truck sounds nothing like half the other 24 valves I come across? What makes them sound different? The only difference I can think of is HO vs SO? Obviously 5 vs 4 and stock exhaust systems will have some impact still they’re is a large difference. Mods in sig.

Could I get a step by step guide to doing a coolant flush? I have never done it since I’ve owned the truck and who knows when it was done last. I will be replacing the thermostat as well. Thanks

Just wondering where this ground attaches on a 2001 Dodge. I am not sure I changed the fender two years ago and noticed it yesterday hanging. I looked in the ground location in the service manual but can't find it. I can't believe I missed it years ago maybe ground for ABS. I would like to know before hooking up to the wrong area I know it is ground... but just wanted to put it to the right spot.

I am needing to replace my “Fan hub bearing” as dodge calls it. I'm looking for some general tips / feedback etc, if anyone has replaced the fan hub bearing before. Listed below are few specific questions 1) Based on the diagrams I've found on line the “hub” bolts to the front of the engine, once the bolts are removed any surprises there I should be aware off. 2) From my research the bearing is pressed in, tips to get it out and re-isntalled. I do not have access to a press aside from a rubber mallet, block of wood, bottle jack etc., 3) Tips removing the fan clutch, (saw one that said use c clamp to hold fan pulley in place). The threads on the fan clutch are …

Please Help!! I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. It has a 5.9 Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. The problem occurs when engine is cold. I thought it was only in winter like now. But it also happens in summer just not half as bad. when engine is first started cold I get white smoke out of exhaust and it stumbles for about a minute in summer. And if left unplugged (engine block heater) in winter it will smoke bad and stumble for like 5minutes!! Then when it warms up enough to drive it wont go above like 20 30 maybe 40mph for like 2miles or more. Seems like until engine reaches a certain temp.?? Anyway then finally everything will kick in and truck will run and drive great!! I was tol…

  18. Hi Cummins Mopar Fans, Just wanted to give an update on my auto to 6 speed swap. I couldn't be happier. First off, I had everyone on here giving me things to try over the last eight (8) years to help me get my automatic problems solved, gear hunt fix, something like 6 altenators, ground cleaning, let alone hundreds of hours researching trying to find a cure. I want to thank Whie98Lightning for suggesting a swap after he sent me a diagram for the TC lockup switch. Mine even wanted to hunt w the switch on. Like he told me & I agree, that (the switch) was the only thing I could do to keep driving the truck. Also, all the deap pedal issues are gone, the truck seem…

  19. I have "leaky line syndrome" you know where the connectors hold the lines from rubbing each other along the transmission. They have started to rust and are beginning to drip. I called the Dodge dealer and the three lines cost $232.78 not including the little clips (rust starters) that are $3 each. The price didn't sound too hateful but I was wondering if there is another source that has lines with a port for the transmission temperature gauge that I am going to install?I called Geno's who sells them for the older trucks but not the 02. They recommended Goerend Transmissions who said they order them from Dodge and would have to charge shipping on top of that. No good.…

  20. Okay I've got something going on with my truck and I'm in need of ideas. My truck sounds different (more tinney rattle) in the top end, less power, less boost higher EGT's. I pulled the valve cover off and re-torqued everything. I was worried something vibrated loose. Everything was tight. I did start the truck while the valve cover was off, and I could hear what was I think was the injectors. Not sure what they are suppose to sound like? I haven't changed a thing with any settings in the Quad tuning. I'm running the edge tune, (I can post them if anyone wants to look them over). Only thing that I found was the set screw on the boost elbow backed out and was gone.…
