Last week i was drivin down a bumpy gravel road when all of a sudden my fuel pressure gauge hits 0 and "quits working" Didnt think a thing about it. Drove home and parked it for 5 days while on vacation. Came back today, started just fine, first crank like always. Drove 20 miles and parked. 3 hours later i try to start it and it cranks for 3-4 seconds before starting perfectly. Trucks idle is slighty bouncing around and having a slight surge every once in a while. What should i check? Sorry im not the most techically gifted. I have a smarty and its set on level 2. Other info in sig what makes this a 911 situation is the amount of travelling i have been do…

Hopefully I can get some clarity from you all, as I have been scratching my head. I have been posting on other sites throughout the years and have had good luck, but seems like this is the place for good electronics info. Truck info: 2002 2500 6 speed Smarty FASS 4" Turbo Back Prodigy Brake Controller BHAF List of codes from Smarty P0121 P0122 P0123 All APPS voltage codes, but I am getting high and low voltage codes P0177 WIF P1475 P1480 Aux 5 Voltage high and low P0342 P0342 Camshaft Position Sensor High and low …

I'm having issues with my torque convertor in my 01. I have access to a complete 96 12 valve 4x4 that has a 5 speed but was rolled. I can get the whole powertrain for under $1500. Will all the parts flywheel etc transfer to my 24 valve? I don't really want to put the 12 valve in. I thought I may sell it a recoupe my money spent. Is there any electrical issues I will face? I think the pedals will swap in as the cabs I believe are identical. What about the center hump in the cab? I know it's a ton of work but it would solve any future auto trans troubles, and clutches are easy to change. Has anyone done this? Did you miss your auto afterward?

My truck has always fired up quick. A few times lately, after I start it and drive short distance, then jump in and go to turn the ignition switch briefly like usual, but it doesnt fire, then second attempt it has to crank awhile(longer than usual), not much, then it fires up. Changed the fuel filter(stock filter wasnt bad at all and the canister was clean as a whistle inside) and it did it again today after I drove to the store. Fuel pressure is fine. New VP a couple years ago. Just wondered if this happens to anyone else? It's never done this before. No fuel leaks anywhere. Truck runs great other than that.

  8. I am pretty close to buying my first dodge diesel pickup, and I found a 2000 2500 club cab 6 speed camper special sport 4x4 for 9600. It is a 1 owner truck very well maintained with 166,000. The owner used it to pull a 5th wheel occasionally and here is the kicker....it has a 53 block. As of this moment there are no cracks or coolant leaks. What do you think? It is a really nice truck, but this and the typical vp44 issues give me pause before I pull the trigger. The other truck I am looking at is a 98 12v with 142000 for $9500. only problem with that is it has an auto transmission, which I feel would probably be more trouble than a manual. I like the idea of a 12v mostly…

I want to go to 3rd gen brakes on my truck. I've gotten pretty good at rebuild calipers. Wondering about getting some used calipers for the price of core charge.

  12. Hello all, I just installed a new Gearotor/Motor tower assembly on my Air Dog FP-100. While it was out on the bench, I noticed there was some debris in the pre-filter screen at the inlet to the water separator. It looks like disintegrated paper, I think my wife had the small cardboard seal in the cap of a bottle of fuel treatment fall into the tank months back. Now it has broken down and the fibers are clogging the screen. I have 1/2" fuel lines for the whole system, can anyone recommend a good in-line filter to cut into the pump supply line? I would like one that I can disassemble to replace the element and clean. Most of the in-line filters I have seen are for 1…

  14. I am looking at the Spyntech Shorty Kit Dodge 00-15 Shorty Kit and the Yukon Gear & Axle (YA WU-04) Spin Free Locking Hub Conversion Kit Yukon Gear & Axle (YA WU-04) Spin Free Locking Hub Conversion Kit for Dodge SRW Dana 60 AAM Differential There are other kits but I don't know much about them and frankly don't know that much about the above kits. Eventually, I will have to replace the 22 year old wheel bearings in my fron axle. When I do get to that point, I would like to install one of the hub kits to eliminate the constant engagement of the front driveshaft driving on the road. I prefer manual locking hubs. I need to determine which is the best kit to g…

  16. Currently have all fuel lines removed from fuel tank to VP44. The lines that are inside the fuel module are 3/8 in size (about 8 inches worth)? All other lines to VP44 are ½ inch. So just the line inside the fuel module are 3/8. Before I took the Air dog pump off , was at 21psi at idle using Vulcan pressure gauge. Unsure about fuel PSI in actual use, just at idle, before I took it apart . (Also going to install pressure gauge) How much do you think or guess a 8 inches of 3/8 line inside fuel module will affect PSI at VP44. The reason I don't want to change out smaller fitting now is because the fitting in top on module has been glued in and…

Just cleaning up my rewire job of W-T's genius redo and now I can't find the info on the way to redo the passenger side PCM ground wire coming out of the harness below the PCM going to the passenger side negative battery. It's the one with another of those suspect grey plugs and it use to splice into the cable that included the poor design ground wire coming in from of the engine and over the top of the alt from the 4 wire splice of PCM/ECU/VP44/PDC. What was his recommendation on fixing that other PCM ground? I've looked everywhere and can't find it now. Thanks. I'll be so glad when this is all done.

  18. I have had an issue with my 02 for about three years now. When it is cold out it runs like a champ. as the temps pass 60-70 degrees and the engine is hot it develops an inconsistant miss. It only does it in warm weather with a hot engine. It developed after I installed the 155 hp BD injectors and an II HRVP44 pump. They were installed about a week apart in the spring while it was still cool out so I never could isolate which caused it.I Have read that a bad vp44 computer will cause the miss when it gets hot.The next thing is if It is in gear or has any sort of load on it like head lights on or ac on ect it will run smooth but put it in park with every load sucking option …

Hey all, hope some of you who know these trucks better than I do can help me out here. So I've gotten to the point I believe the truck is running the way it should and I am ready to buy the Quadzilla for it, but I wanted to pick your brains here just to see if I missed anything or if there's other things I can check. My main goal is to have the truck running 100% correctly stock before adding the tuner so that way I can maximize the potential of the tuner. I didn't want to throw the tuner on when the truck isn't running to its full potential in stock form. The truck is mechanically running perfect, what I'm looking for is things to test and check electrical wise. I'll lis…
