Des anyone have a smarty tuner that i could borrow to correct my speedo with the new tires i have on it? I can pay for all shipping to and from. Or is there an inexpensive tuner that can calibrate the ecu for tire size?

  3. I was on my way to church this morning and my speedometer started acting up going to like 127 mph for a few seconds at a time. That is all it was doing. I went to leave church and head to the shop and more problems... As soon as I turned the key on the speedometer instantly pegged out again. The truck started fine and when I went to leave its like the convertor was stuck in lockup and the tranny is in high gear.I can put the shifter down into 1 or 2 and the tranny will shift into those gears but the speedometer remains pegged out and anytime the speedometer is pegged out and you put the shifter in D the tranny stays in high gear. I'm thinking possibly the VSS on the rear …

I have a 1999 dodge ram 3500 5 speed 2wd dually and my speedo randomly stopped working. I towed my camper 150 miles it worked the whole way to the campsite then the truck sat for a day and a half and the speedo randomly stopped working when we went for a drive. Also just a piece of information my abs light and brake light on the dash have never worked. I checked the 40amp abs fuse and it was fine. Any ideas what it could be? Just odd it randomly stopped after sitting. Could it be the sensor on the diff or wiring going to it or could there be another abs fuse that could be it?

Been trying to solve my intermittent speedometer for awhile now. It is possessed acts up under all different conditions speedometer will read pretty close to exactly double! Sometimes will do it frequently between drives other times can go a thousand miles without acting up. Shut the truck off and restart it’s all good. Checked wiring I found a repair on vss wiring but appears to be good. Replaced vss and inspected tone ring on diff. Speed on my edge matches speedometer when it acts up. Scanned and got code 74, 67, and 65. Should also add that truck has a 4w abs module but front hubs without sensor. I “fixed” this by tying front sensor wires into rear. Was acting up befo…

  6. What up you guys! My rear end has been screaming at me ever since Ive owned my truck. I just ordered a master rebuild kit for my 99 auto 47RE with the dana/spicer 70. I'm trying to figure out what carrier clutches to order? the Kit did not come with the carrier clutches and I want to replace them. Reliability is the number one most important thing for me, but posi would be cool. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! If there has already been a write up on this Im sorry i could not find it. Thanks in advance

So this has been an on going issue for quite some time and have hit a road block, under heavy engine load ONLY with tuner turned up it will spit/sputter best way I can explain it is it sounds like I'm bouncing rev limiter, within the last 8k miles I put on a fass pump new vp44 and a revmax trans ( trans was slipping and thought that was the problem spitting and sputtering at 2700 rpms) now she spits and sputters at all different times based on current speed engine load tps and level of tune. I've checked fuel pressure 17 at idle /14 at WOT /, less than .075v of ac noise in alt. Have a p1693 in the pcm that stays after cleared and p1475 witch has not come back yet. tps se…

My truck started acting up recently. While driving it will stall or die. I have 19 psi fuel pressure, the fuel filter is new, no codes. It starts fine and idles fine, but once I'm driving it will stall out for just a second and come back or completely die. If it dies, then it won't start again for anywhere from hours to days. Any help is appreciated. 99 Dodge Ram 3500 5.9l diesel Here is a video of 6 times it stalled today. https://youtu.be/jkYmQii0C4c

Can the data link wires be spliced or replaced with regular automotive wire provided the connections are soldered and heat shrink applied?

  10. ( 2000 Ram 1 tn 4wd diesel auto, 340000 miles) Now that I got my fuel pressure issue solved, my brakes have decided to act up. They have been "spongy" and not strong stoppers for about 200 miles. I was going to wait till I got home to address the problem. Now however the Brake and ABS dash lights have come on permanently when driving. I also do not hear the semi loud "boom" I always heard in the past when turning the key on. I am aware of the sensor on the rear differential, but is this the kind of symptom that a failed sensor would cause? Also is there not a 6 pin brake switch somewhere that occasionally fails. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Booster, master …

I think something is wrong with my Edge... This past weekend I took a trip up to Connecticut with the camper. Under normal acceleration and driving I don't notice a problem.. but when I'm up around 65 mph and I try to accelerate up a grade I can feel the truck sputter a bit. I turned off the Edge and the problem went away. I was running the Edge on 2/3 and my Smarty is set to 2. Is the Edge starting to fail? I haven't checked for codes yet...

I am getting tired of listening to my squeaky clutch pedal Every time I depress the clutch it is like fingernails on a chalk board. A few months back I put some 3 in 1 oil around the pin that the pedal pivots on, but that was short lived. Do I have to disassemble the assembly to adequatly lube this? Someone has to have a trick to share.

Hey guys, I’m really at a loss here I have no idea what’s going on with my 2000 extended cab 2500 auto trans. I was pulling my gooseneck probably 5k lbs, while accelerating my truck made a sound from under the floor, maybe trans or front end, sounded like a screech or squeak, and the whole truck kinda jumped. It kept doing it as I accelerated, now it’s doing that when I’m speeding up even without the trailer. Anyone have any idea what’s happening? Clutch?

My truck for the last few weeks has been making an awful squeaking or siren sound from what seems like the transmission. Does not do it while I’m stopped or stopped in gear revving, it also seems like it gets quieter when I smash on the brakes? Any help would be appreciated!!! Also it seems to do it more once truck it up to good operating temp.

Drove the truck last Tuesday, then proceeded to get awfully sick so truck sat and became a nest. Wanted to move my trailer, no start, and found this. No idea how to take the pins out of the plugs so I can attempt repair. Guess I'll research this over the weekend. Sweatshirt weather today, and Winter begins tonight with sleet and snow, and 4 degrees by Sunday! Late start this year.

  16. hello everone, I have an 01 5.9 HO TD with 6 speed manual. today me and the kid were out picking up a welding machine on a small trailer and coming up to a stop sign, go to push in clutch and felt it go limp right to the board. what now ? Hey boys and girls - nothing important but could use some opinions. My truck came with stacks which I have replaced with simple 4" kit.Now I want to sell the stacks but don't know what to ask for $$. It is not a typical stack kit with Y pipe. Previous owner made his own piping for in the bed and attached the stacks to it. The homemade piece has a pipe that goes down through the bed like a typical kit. Pics of stacks are attached. The buyer will have to purchase piping from the downpipe to the pipe coming out of the bed, but I'm including in the sale, the diamond plate protection set up including all rails and hardware to attach.I was going to ask $350 for it all (most …

Dunno how many of you know this already, but Stainless Diesel broke 1000 HP on the dyno with a VP44 fuel only. Think they did some adjustments on their second run, and broke 1040 fuel only. I thought that was awesome. Just wanted to share!

  20. Scored a fuel tank yesterday, and in process of correcting 1/4 tank issues. Is it alright to use stainless metal bolts and a nylox nut to keep basket in position. My corrugated draw straw is the thing only providing tension between bottom of basket and top. I’m extending draw straw, so no longer will draw straw provide spring tension. I'm thinking the basket needs something to keep draw straw sucking near bottom of tank. I don’t know if stainless steel or nylox is OK to use in fuel system... or should I use some type of glue? What is OK to use in fuel system? Thanks
