I know this topic has been beat to death. Sorry! I just bought a 2001 4 x 4 five speed with the NV 4500. At this time there has been no failure. My thinking is open up the back of the transmission verify torque and weld the nut to get some more life before an ultimate rebuild. Maybe that would be a waste of time and effort? TIA

I'm in need of a new dipstick. I leaned on mine and broke the handle off. I was able to get the remainder out of the tube. The tube itself is fine. Just need a new dipstick. I checked @Genos Garage but the one they have says tou have to pull the handle off the new one and put it on the oem metal part.

Any benefit to keep volt meter hooked up and drive around, to test if anything going on in different RPM's and speeds/gears? Read alot people that trans govenor seems to come into play with a/c leakage. When using cruise control my actual mph gains on flat stretches. I can set it at 65 and 3 or 4 miles later I'm going over 70. Haven't tested anything yet but think it might be a/c leakage, reason why I'm wondering about higher speeds/RPM's. Thanks

Wednesday (Oct 17, 2023) we all headed out and got up to the west side of Florence ID and got to our old spot. Damn It! Our wood spot has been bone-picked. We moved to another spot on the mountain and found lots of wood but bigger-diameter trees. No biggy. So I started to back up the trailer to park it out of the way and the steering started to whine. I shut down instantly and got out and you can clearly see the fluid came out of the top cover of the steering box. Being Beast has all of Thor's tools I just simply got the right wrench. Now checking the top cover 2 bolts were loose. I snugged up the bolts and no what for fluid? DISCLAIMER: NOT A PERMANENT SOLUT…

hey guys i currently have an issue with my truck, i recently replaced the intake pump and injection pump and it has been fine all the way up until now . yesterday i was sitting at a red light and the truck started pouring out black smoke and felt like it wanted to take off. so i put the truck into neutral and when to put it back into drive then it shut off, it did this about 8 times then i got frustrated and held my foot on the gas and put it into drive and took off. it does feel like its under powered now almost like in limp mode.

So I know Quad and other tuners stretch the injection solenoid pulse width by some microseconds like 1500 or 1700. At what RPM? Or is that the max at any speed. This is how they get around the Vp can bus internal max fuel delivery limit. Why not in degrees instead of microseconds? Example 1500 microseconds at 1000 rpm is 1000/60 = 16.7 RPS 16.7 x 360 = 6000 degrees per second 6000/ 1000000 = .006 degrees per microsecond .006 x 1500 uS = 9 degrees @ 1000 rpm At 3000 RPM the same 1500 uS = 27 degrees. Is it explained somewhere ?

I guess Im more confused after reading a ton of options. So I mostly pull with this truck, no hot rod just hauling hay, tractors and equip. Eng. has New 50hp DAP injectors and I am ok with the power of the injectors and the HO motor. Really looking for mpg, a little hp would be nice too. So do they have a tune like this I guess the real question Im asking is what do I need? Thanks

I’m new here. But saying that I want to pass some info on to members about the 24v apps that should not be overlooked. Cummins does NOT make the apps for our trucks. They don’t even sell them. It’s the responsibility of the oem to make a control apparatus for their engines. Cummins makes engines not control mechanisms. The correct apps for our trucks is the Williams Control (WC) 131973. Holdwell makes the jumper harness to go to the Duetsch connector on the ISB engine harness. The amount of fake ones available online is staggering. If their name isn’t on the sensor or it’s blank it’s counterfeit. So, if you got a “Timbo” it’s j…

Been having a noise randomly. Drained the T- case today and found this. Any idea wear it could be before I split it. It's coming apart either way, just not sure it'll be tonight.

Hey, guys! I'm 17 years old and getting ready to start driving a truck to local farmers markets and have a bit of a problem. Me and my dad are the proud owners of a 98 Dodge Ram 3500 refrigerated box truck. It has the Cummins 24valve and an auto tranny. The problem is that the transmission doesn't shift into overdrive properly. It has several lights that come on in the dash like the trans temp light, the airbag light, the o/d off light and some others that I cant remember. Funny thing is, sometimes when we're sitting at a stoplight ect, all the lights in the dash go out, and the trans shifts fine! The company that had the truck before us put another used tranny in it, …

So when I was checking my transmission the other day for anymore leaks I left the truck running. As I could hear a knock as my head got near the bottom of the truck I could hear a knock. Not like a rod knock not really sure what it was. I could hear it on the driver and passenger side. Couldn't hear anything up top. Is this normal? I have never paid attention or been under one while it was running.

I was cruising down the highway towing the boat a couple months ago, set cruise on 60 and just started to slow down nice and easy. Since then, it has been out except I tried it yesterday and I feel it trying to take the pedal but it gives up. I am looking for any suggestions on an accurate way to diagnose if it is a vacuum leak or something in the servo. I look forward to your response.

ASD Relay Controlled Lift Pump If the ECM is no longer powering the electric lift pump and you’re using a manual switch wired directly to the fuel pump relay for control there is a danger of the fuel pump feeding a fire in the event of an accident even if the engine stalls. The automatic shutdown relay is an alternative that will turn the fuel lift pump off if the engine stops and still be able to prime the VP44 if needed. The automatic shutdown relay (ASD) in the power distribution center (PDC) is energized by the powertrain control module (PCM) by grounding pin 85 of the relay when the engine is started. This closes the contacts and b…

Installed a new ATS 3-piece manifold and ATS Aurora 3000 turbo this past week into my 02. Got it done before the little heat wave that's set in to the PacNW. Initial feedback is that the Aurora (58/78) spools quickly just as I'd hoped. Much faster throttle response than my previous Fleece (63/65). Haven't hooked up the camper yet to the truck and put it in tow mode through the mountain passes so I'll report back with more data when I do. I did intend to make a video of this install but there are better ones out there. I will provide a write up later on some tips I've gained now installing the setup and hopefully its useful - or mildly interesting to a few of you. Couple p…
