My 99 3500, 5sp manual began having trouble starting about 6 months ago. I limped it along but finally broke down and replaced the lift pump and the vp44 this past weekend. Truck cranked great, ran great, killed, then cranked right up again. Today, I drove the truck about 6 miles, killed it, cranked it about 15 minutes later but to no avail. Waited, attempted to crank again, but nothing. The factory lift pump was replaced with an in tank pump before I bought the truck. I replaced the Spectra Premium SP7036M Fuel Pump Assembly and the vp44 with a Bosch from Thoroughbred Diesel. I'm in dire straights here guys. I just dropped $1200 on parts, did the…

hey guys. So I was scrolling through a Genos catalog and came across the dampner for our trucks. I got to thinking about what the signs of failure were, and did a little research. Looking at mine, I see the rubber has been squeezing its way forward and looks to be getting old, 260k miles, but when idling, it doesnt wobble off balance at all. By comparison, my dads 99 looks really good, almost newish. I don't know if it was replaced at some point, but he's had the truck since 02 I believe and hasn't replaced it himself. As they fail, I've heard you get more vibration through out the motor, but sometimes its real gradual that you may not notice it over time. If…

Tappet cover was leaking, so unless someone has an ultra secret procedure, I needed to pretty much remove everything that side of block , I have removed the injection pump before, being mindful of the key, but this time the key fell out. A) tear front cover off and retrieve key or B) hope it made its way to the oil pan.

I purchased this 01 24v about 2 years ago and the previous owner said that he had a local diesel performance shop put in a FASS, Billet flex plate, and a triple disk torque converter. I'm not having any issues with slipping or anything, when the transmission shifts it's firm and grabs the gears instantly. While I was under the truck doing the oil change I decided to take off the inspection plate and just take a peak. I was wondering if anybody could tell me if this TC and Flex plate look stock or aftermarket. I've tried looking at a bunch of different torque converters to try to match the color but I can't seem to find anything, and as far as the quick and fir…

hey guys i currently have an issue with my truck, i recently replaced the intake pump and injection pump and it has been fine all the way up until now . yesterday i was sitting at a red light and the truck started pouring out black smoke and felt like it wanted to take off. so i put the truck into neutral and when to put it back into drive then it shut off, it did this about 8 times then i got frustrated and held my foot on the gas and put it into drive and took off. it does feel like its under powered now almost like in limp mode.

Can crossover tubes cause a slightly rough idle in park and occasional hard starts and not leak diesel into the engine? I’ve tightened the banjo bolt behind the head and the T fitting next to it. I park the truck nose down in the driveway no issues starting. Park it on level ground and every few startups it takes extra cranking for it to start. Injectors are fairly new. It didn’t start right after the injector install. Probably a couple thousand miles after. Thanks for any help.

I was crawling around under the truck looking for problems and I noticed this cracked mount for the rear of the transmission. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this on their trucks. I searched but didn’t see any threads on it. What’s more, it looks like someone has tried to weld it previously, but it was never mentioned. My dad had the truck for a couple years but other than that I bought it new. The trans was out for a synchro replacement and shortly after that, the 5th gear nut fix. (Whole other story of clown work by a local mechanic). Anyway, I ordered a new bracket and will replace, but just thought I’d post something on it. I was hearing a bit of …

Code p0260 popped up today. Can’t find anything on it. Any help would be appreciated. My only symptom is surging at 35-45-55 mph. I’ve had that problem before which was just a loose battery connection but I’ve checked everything I could think of and all connections are okay.

Im having a strange issue occasionally. I have a 98.5 with a 5 speed transmission. When I let the clutch out, the truck usually kicks the throttle up and the truck starts to move without adding fuel from the pedal. It has recently started not doing this requiring me to use the pedal to start from a stop. Its intermittent and seems to do it when the engine is cold. The truck has RV275s and a new injection pump recently. Everything else is stock. Thanks BIll

Just got the truck about a week ago. I will refrain from the steering issues I've had I washed the engine 2 days ago since there was diesel all over (line blew off on way home from purchase) and I like a clean engine compartment. I opted to use a hose with wand power nozzle over a power washer which I use on all my other trucks because I noticed hack electrical work and wanted to avoid any shorting out of components. Well, now I have a cranks but no start condition It started one time for about 15 seconds then died. Did the key on key off deal which revealed the following codes Pcu P1693 Ecu P0236 P0216 P0121 P0236 …

I bought this, (see link) to make my "waste of money'' o'Reilly's in-tank pump work on with my block pump truck (to make the in tank pump)https://www.ebay.com/itm/DODGE-RAM-2500-3500-Fuel-Pump-Transfer-Conversion-Wiring-Harness-NEW-OEM-MOPAR/401565500005?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 and i don't understand how it's suppose to make my pump work, i need a diagram i haven't found anything that makes sense or is detailed my truck is a 2001 bone stock 3500 C&C 24 valve nv 5600 https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b/precision-fuel-pumps-4602/fuel---emissions-16775/fuel-pumps-tanks-16472/fuel-pump-strainer-16843/fuel-pump-12322/8…

Well guys, it’s time to change the clutch in my 02 with 103k on it. It held all last summer until I got it to slip up hill in 6th with the quad on level 6. This truck is a summer driver/toy that I plan on building to around 500-550 hp. My brother has an 01 with this clutch https://www.dieselautopower.com/1999-2005-cummins-nv5600-13-x-1-375-single-disc-performance-replacement-ceramic that I’m also considering. However, i’ve read that a factory replacement pilot bushing may be a better option than the bearing. I’d hate to have the bearing fail and pull the trans again. Thoughts on this? Also as far as the flywheel goes, would my best option be to just get it resurfaced? Fir…

I've been having trouble with my 98.5 2500 for sometime now. I go to start the truck and it "lopes" about 10-12 times and dies. I have no throttle response when pressing the pedal while it does this. I have replaced vp44, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, throttle position sensor, grid heater relay, I have newer batteries, also cleaned the grounds really good in the batteries as they had a little bit of corrosion on them. When I turn the switch on it takes a couple of seconds for the WTS light to come on, when it comes on i can hear what I believe is the fuel pump priming. WTS goes off and I start it and it does the 10-12 "lopes" and dies. Any help or …

Installed a new VP44 from DAP. Truck starts lightning quick as it should when cold. I can let the truck sit for 5 days, nose uphill, starts in about half a revolution as it always has. So no siphon or fuel leaks. However when the motor's warm, not so much. Takes 3-5 seconds but does start every time . But let it set for several hours, cooler engine, no problem. Starting pressure with my Fuel Boss is 20 lbs. Out of curiosity, I put my DDRP back on which also runs around 20 lbs starting pressure. Same hot start problem with either. Is 20 lbs too much? No codes with a good scanner. …

I have a 2001 Dodge ram Cummins 24v AT with a check engine light codes : P1693, P0236, P0112, P1488. I brought it to a mechanic and he told me 3.7 volts are coming out of the ECM. I just want to make sure that maybe a short or something else before I invest in a new ECM. I also have a smarty tuner tuned to level 5.

so i was reading this (because i heard that ac noise is bad for ecms) and i was wondering if it would hurt my replacement ecm to crank my truck to check my VAC, and how much diesel i would need to run it to do that, because my fuel sending sending situation is FU*KERD and i don't know when i can get the right parts in, but i can pull fuel out of a jug, just don't want to fight to get a 5 gal bucket, when all i need is a gal. ( also i
