So I heard the standard grinding screeching noise under a stopping yesterday. Looked at the front brake pads and they are shot. Went on RockAuto for a new set of pads and rotors. I noticed a lot of different options. Prices ranging from 25 each for rotors up to 250 for the top end. Is there a substantial difference between the low end, mid grade and top end? I don't pull heavy loads, just daily driving to work. I'm of the school of thought that you get what you pay for. I just hate to waste money if its not really any better. I know the pads are substantially different depending on application but the rotors are my real question. Whats everyone else running, rec…

Hi drove my 1999 3500 24v truck to work the other day and parked came back to it in the evening and whent to start it, first thing i noticed was no wts light. It turned over but fail to start and no fuel pump and no bus showing in odometer. Popped the hood and could smell burnt wires. The joint connection 2 in the pdc burned up the local dodge dealer told me that usually the pdc gives out 90% of the time the pdc shorts out its self and causes this but I'm not sure about that. I got a good used one from a local parts truck my plan is to clean all the grounds and check for shorts then I will hook the batteries back up and pull what codes i can. Just wondering what else i sho…

I decided to go through the trouble of installing a Momentary switch in the gear select arm. A Momentary switch means that it will only connect the circuit if the button is pressed. As soon as you release the button the circuit closes. IE: Pressing it will complete the Ground and trigger the Torque Converter to Lockup, as soon as you release the button the Torque converter lockup will release. This fixed the issue of forgetting that the switch was on when coming to a stop. I found that in the cases where I wanted to use the lockup switch I was already using my right hand to shift down or disable OD. It was only natural to think that a lockup switch on the Gear Sele…

I noticed on my 1998.5 dodge that the passenger side is 1” higher than the drivers side? I have not to my knowledge adjusted anything on the truck that would make 1 side sit 1” higher? I measured with a tape measure and it’s 11.25 on passenger side to top of tire and 10.5 on driver side to top of tire. Isn’t there bolts with oblong nuts on control arms? Orrr how would I fix this?

I recently noticed that I had power steering fluid leaking from the weep hole on the bottom of the hydro booster of my 01 Dodge 2500. So I ordered the seal kit containing the inner seal and figure 8 seal. The install went as follows: Pumped the brake 3 times, unbolted the master cylinder from the hydro booster, unbolted the brake booster, removed the 3 power steering lines, and then removed the hydro booster and brake booster in one piece. I then separated them and replaced the seals while making certain that the inner seal actually went around the piston and didn't tear. I bolted the 2 housings back together then put the spring, rod, and washer back in befo…

So I have a plow that has been around for about 14 years it is an old boss v plow I have mounts for my truck and a ford theses are two separate factory made mounts for the rt2,,, I plan on setting up both trucks for the plow mine as a back up for when the ford breaks down. I have done this before and understand that my plow frames are bolt on items for both trucks but still require drilling a couple holes in the frame for example Boss says for the push bar rear support to drill 3, 9/16 inch holes in a 4 inch x 4 inch area now I know why those bolts are there but my question is would one 4 inch bead of weld that can be ground off be better than Swiss cheesing up the frame?…

I have spent the past 2 days of my weekend replacing my severly cracked dash and a leaky heater core. In the process I also replaced my ac evap core. My heat had gotten to the point of the only way to regulate it was thru the windows. By that I mean the heat on full blast and opening a window when it got to warm, which was not to often since hy heater was not putting out alot anyway. I installed a new core and the Heater Treater part I heard so much about. The oe part for the blend door was broken and I am glad I had it on hand.I bought a replacement dash from LMC. The color match was spot on. The fit was very good. It was a fairly straight forward replacement. 90% of the…

I Came across a pretty decent deal on a Ranch Hand and pulled the trigger. I ended up trading a well worn set of tires with about 35k miles on them And 300 bucks. I've been looking at them for quite a while but could never justify the cost, this is the best deal I have come across locally and I couldn't pass on it. A little leary about all the extra weight hanging off the front but well see how it goes. I can already tell by the weight of it either a spacer or a longer set of coils is going to be in order, not sure which route I'm going to go with yet. I was hoping to get it on this weekend but it's not going to happen, hopefully by next weekend. Here's a little peak at i…

Does anybody know what the stock wheel load rating is, for the rim? I ordered some after market wheels rated at 3,200 lbs per wheel and now I'm worried about them not being beefy enough. I'm mainly concerned about the integrity when the truck is loaded up/towing. They fit the bill when calculating GVWR per axle, but after doing some research on other after market rims they are in the 3,400-3,600 lb range. I'm just curious of what other people have run into...

In search of new bulbs and headlight assemblies. What are the best combo packs for those dark nights? And winter nights.. LED'S or HID's? Preferably something that isn't going to cost a fortune. Amazon works the best. Drop web links, please.

I recently had my tank down to clean/install draw straw. There was a vent-line looking connection that was plugged with crap, but nothing on the end of the line; I put a new piece of 5/16" fuel hose on it and made it into a loop to at least slow ingress of crap as the tank breathes. Is there a special vent that's supposed to be there (like with a roll-over shutoff gizmo), or just a standard breather? Or....? Lots of things missing on my truck, including the puke bottle! Didn't even know that was a thing until I saw MoparMan's PVC pipe trick.

Has anyone done this swap to a 2nd Gen 01 Dodge 3500? I mean from the whole thing from tie rod to tie rods and bars. If so, did it work with simplicity or did you have to ream the knuckles out and get a different stabilizer set up? Thanks again!

I went to test my 7 pin trailer connector the other day and i only have power and the electric brakes and the constant 12V. The 12V also goes on with the brakes, which i assume it should always have power. Where can i trace the wires back to? is there a common failure point? http://forum.mopar1973man.com/image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhWQJsAdUAAP///wAAAICAgEBAQMDAwPsLCxAQED8/P/Dw8L+/v6CgoH9/f+Dg4A8PD9DQ0CAgIO/v7zAwMGBgYB8fH3BwcFBQUJCQkN/f37CwsJ+fny8vL19fX8/Pz09PT29vb6+vr4+Pjz4CAvk2DX0FBbwICA8AAB8BAZwGBusKCk4DAw8DANkvC14EBC8CAssICNsJCbooCT4NA+kyDHwbBl0UBGwXBY0GBh8GAcorCpshCC4KAqwHB20EBKslCIweBwAAACH5BAAAAAAALAAAAABZAmwBQAb/QIBwSCwaj8ikcslsOp/QqHRKrVqv2Kx2y+16v+CwePwUBAIDAOEcMLI…

Hey guys, On our trucks (01 specifically), how does a chassis ground return to the battery.? Lets I add a set of aux lights, or anything really, and I ground the piece to the frame or body. I know there are the two battery to body grounds on the drivers battery, and one (if I remember right) on the passenger battery. Are there larger ones from block to the body or frame somewhere? The reason I am asking is I am curious if you add something that has a little bit higher of an amperage draw (grounded to the frame) if there is enough ground going only through those body to battery (smallish) ground wires. Thanks John

Well gang... I finally swap my tires for offroad use and firewood hauling. I've been running a Big O at for the streets and light dirt road use (in town). But now with firewood season I'll be doing more dragging and skidding of trees so I put on the aggressive tires. So I popped a few pics... You'd be surprised on how heavy the 265/75 R16 are compared to a 235/85 R16...

Actually bought these for the wheels so I can weld in jeep centers. Will play with them on the pickup for a month or so while I round of parts to make them jeep wheels. There h1 12 bolt bead locks. I've got to remove the 40lbs of runflat from each wheel. These are heavy with the run flats in Itl get old quickly running 37s but I figure maybe I'll play with them for a few just cause
