hello, I just bought my first dodge. 02 slt Laramie, 24v, bone stock. I want to put an aftermarket stereo in it so I ordered the factory plugs, dash kit, speaker box for the back seat, etc. I went and bought a stereo from the local Walmart and went to install it. Using the factory wiring diagram on the top of the original stereo, I wired it up and im not getting any sound out of the speakers. It turns on and all that stuff but I can figure out why it won't work. My question is, on top of the two factory plugs and the ground wire, there is another set of wires the plug into the factory stereo that are pink and white with a small white connector. What is this a…

Its time to start looking for pads and rotors, front and rear, for my brake upgrade. I usually use ceramic pads from NAPA, lots of Adaptive One stuff and their premium rotors but I've been looking more for this project. Has anyone used Power Stop Evolution pads and rotors on their truck? If so which ones and would you use them again? Any other recommendations for good stopping power, brake fade, noise?

Found 2 horns off a semi recently. Already had 1 horn behind front bumper and only place i could find for these was behind the rear bumper. Not really where i wanted to put them but they fit and its loud.

I like to run rain guards however only have the passenger side on now, drivers side cracked so I took it off. I am seeing a lot of in channel rain guards that share the same space as your window, the one I have now is mounted above the window. What is everybody running? Thanks.

2001 ram 2500. Just replaced wiring harness with that of a 2002 parts trick. Finally got it running but the cruise light stays on form the time the key is turned on to off. I have tried holding the buttons. I have tried tapping then repeatedly. Before I replaced harness(truck caught fire) the cruise would turn in and off anytime I wanted. Clock spring? Wrong pcm? I’m stumped.

  6. So I did the WT ground portion but I want to finish it and move the alternator cable from the PDC to the passenger side battery. My original plan was to use the original cable from the alternator and cut it and run it to a circuit breaker then use more of it from the circuit breaker to the battery. This will involve buying the circuit breaker, some lugs, and a crimper for the lugs. While doing some research on which size lugs I'd need to do this job I ran across that custombatterycables.com makes an 18 in 4 gauge wire with a fusible link to run between the alternator and passenger-side battery. The price for this cable is $31.75. So now the question, do I buy all the…

Many of us run larger tires on our trucks. The speedometer is calibrated to be accurate with the OEM tires. Many tire manufactures list the exact dimensions, weight, and revolutions per mile. It would be helpful/of interest if the correction math for distance, speed, and altered gear ratio were available. This would be helpful in figuring exact miles per gallon. Any of you mathematical folks interested in providing a step by step lesson?

Well after 500k+ my power steering pump has started leaking. The steering and the brakes work fine, just loosing the fluid somewhere. Any body ever reseal their pump? The kits are cheap but they dont come with any bearings and I have to assume there some bearings in there some where. I can get new replacement for a 150 bucks, just cant decide which way to go.

Well that cheap China radio pissed me off enough that it found my knuckles in the middle of the display and killed it. First I only paid $29 bucks for that cheap radio. It did work good for a while. First problem is the FM tuner quit. Then I had my back up camera crushed. Then the finally straw is the software error and locked up so you can't turn it on or off. You have to have a paperclip to reboot the software. Pow! Light out and done I quit! Dug around on Amazon and websites. I did a dig on the best 10 bluetooth stereos. Kenwood BT572-U is in the top ten. I wanted something that could control Pandora, Spotify, XM possibly. Found it. This radio is AM/FM as w…

I like so many of us go through alternators. I was doing some research as to stop this problem and ran across a rectifier with Avalanche diodes. What little I can find about them is that is what the newer cars are using. From what I have found these will clamp the voltage spike caused by large current things like when the grid heaters turn off. What I have not found was the specs for the voltage that they clamp to or if they will help with the ripple that causes our problems. This is call out to anybody out there with more knowledge then me or better search results if these would be a good choice.

My passenger front brake is dragging pretty good when I spin the wheel vs the drivers side, the front end is in the air right now for some other work so I have not been driving the truck in some time. Brake fluid is pretty new from the previous owner (owned for about 4 months now) as he had to replace the caliper and rotor on the pass front brake because the rotor basically disintegrated while he owned it. This was discovered the day before I purchased the truck, the rotor, pads, and caliper all look brand new and have enough miles on them that the pads should be seated at this stage. When I am able to drive the rig I can smell the brakes after driving for a bit and a mix…

I haven't been driving my truck for a long time, but went to the lake and the steering just seems heavy. It always was if you ask me but even worse now. Considering changing the PS pump. Anybody care to chime in? I would hate to change it and not get an improvement.

  14. Has anyone converted a set of sport headlights to HID (D2S or MLED2.0) on the low/high bulb? Is there enough room in the housing? I am wondering as I would like to use the high beam bulb socket for a warning strobe light.

I went to the saw mill to pick up a load of wood shavings today and the truck rides OK but sometimes I feel like a fishing line bobber floating in rough water going down the road. I can't imagine that the original OEM installed,17 year old shocks when the truck was built at the factory STILL being installed could possibly be the problem???? I was looking at the Bilstein 5100 but Geno's Garage as far I can tell only carries the 5160 which fits my truck according to their selections. What is the deal on shock for these trucks or at least this year and model? Thanks.

  16. I know winter is a little ways off yet but didn't want to do this last minute. I decided to try and patch up my driver's side floor board today. It's temporary, should last a year or two until I get some other things done. Then I'll tackle the floors, rockers if needed and so on. I also learned today that a flux core welder from harbor freight is NOT the best tool for the job. I have the home made patch panel in there good enough until I can get to a buddy's house who has a mig. These are the after pics.

Anyone around Louisville KY need front and rear rotors or caliper brackets for a 01 2500 4wd? All are good, stopped smooth no pulsation. Did 3rd gen swap and hate to trash these. Also have like new rear pads from napa had maybe 7000 miles on them.

I came out of work a couple of days ago and saw my passenger side headlight lens was just hanging by the rubber strip. I've been wanting to get new headlights but with all the choices I've been a little overwhelmed. I know I didn't want just cheap Amazon lights (no offense to those that went that route) and I wanted more than just new housings with the same bulbs. Do I get sport headlights? Do I pay $$$ and get retros? Well, with this new development I guess I didn't have time to debate the issue any longer. My new lights have been ordered and should be here soon. Stay tuned to find out what I got and how they work... I'm so excited

Just took about 30 minutes and installed my new driver's seat cushion from Geno's and I wish I had spent the money 50k miles ago. It is SUCH a drastic improvement. No more smashing my tailbone on the rear crossbar with every bump!

Hello, I have an 01 24 valve with no heat or Ac. I don’t really care about the AC, but would love to have heat. I have replaced the heater core and the thermostat, but still have no heat. When I used to try to run the heat, I would end up with a puddle of coolant on the floor. I’m not sure if the coolant stopped leaking after I replaced the heater core, simply because there was already so much on the floor and I’m afraid to try it again since I just finally got the carpet dry. Either way though, still no heat. I’m thinking it’s either the blen door or vacuum line, but would like a second opinion. Thanks!
