Lately, the idea of taking some of my work to a local shop to ensure it gets done better than i could has been biting me in the rear. First it was a shop that couldn't do my alignment because they said they couldn't adjust my sleeve. Today i take my brake rotors in to get turned. Let alone they are one of only few shops around that even turn rotors anymore! So i tale them in and come back in 45 min as they told me an hour to do the job. I wait out in the car and the guy comes out and tells me the rotors are too big. He wasted 90 min of my time before bothering to come out and tell me he couldn't do it. He said he's never had this prob…

I'm thinking of rattle canning the lower part of my truck on my bed to prevent rust and spruce it up. Should I strip it to bare metal or just scuff really well? 2 coats of primer? 2-3 base and then clear? Behind the rear wheels the body is down to primer so I was thinking of just stripping it down, see photos. Duplicolor has color match paint, I was thinking of going that route. I've never done body work on a vehicle so any input would be great. I know it won't be tip top shape, but I still want it to look nice and any input would be appreciated. Thanks, John

First off- very good site, stumbled on it in my searches for dodge info. It seems you guys answer questions instead of bashing people's ideas:thumb1:now for my question Does anyone know where to find a decent diagram of the 42 pin connector where the engine harness plugs into the PDC. (c130 in my diagram) I bought the mitchell diy thing yesterday turns out that was a waste of good money. When i told my local dealer what i am looking for they just told me they don't have it(seems like laziness to me) and that what i am trying to do can't be done, well i don't believe in CAN'T! My truck is an 01 1500 that had a 5.9 gas and auto trans. I swapped everything out of my 97 d…

The other day I was offered a 2in. leveling kit for an 04 3/4 dodge for helping my dads friend fix his truck, but I didn't know if it'd work or not. If I'm not mistaken, my 01 and the 3rd gens have the same front axle, steering, coils, and coil buckets correct? Couldn't really find anything on this topic elsewhere so like always, someone has to know here, thanks!

Does anyone know of a good and "reliable", for lack of a better word, VIN decoder for the Dodges? I'd like to see how my truck was configured when it was new, back in the day.

My leer truck cap on my Dodge that I installed a fully welded steel ladder rack on top is stress cracking. I work construction and tree farming so the rack was over built and overloaded probably more than once. Now that you know what I did wrong I'll tell you what I want to do... I found a quart of Toyota army green leftover from jamming out the truck before sending it to paint, so I figured might as well fix the topper and finally paint it to match the truck. Last weekend I sanded most of the old paint off one side was done with 150 one side was 60(I'll explain in a moment.) Now that the paint is stripped I'm seeing pretty deep stress cracks, and the fiberglass …

I'm running 265/75-16 tires. BFG KO's. I'm at 50,000 miles on these and they're almost bald. Any other semi aggressive tire recommendations out there? I run one set year round. 90% street use and 10% hunting on gravel roads, snow, etc.. Prefer tires with the snowflake so they're rated as traction devices.

Hey all,New guy here. Just got the truck in my sig from my dad. One thing it doesn't have is fog lights. I looked around a little behind the bumper but didn't see harness endings where the lights would be. Should they be there? Also, will the plugs for a headlight switch with fog controls be behind the switch? We get lots of fog during the winter in this valley and there are more deer than people, so I'd like to add a little light on my dark commute! Thanks guys!

  13. Hey everyone, I'm tossing around the idea of changing out my Autometer gauges for Glow Shift ones because the Glow Shift ones have some neat lighting!! My question is what do you guys think about that? Are the Glow Shift gauges good? I don't want to lose quality for looks... Plus my Autometer fuel pressure gauge has a little ding in it from the previous owner which isn't a big deal, just a little cosmetic problem... And all of them work just to level things out. These are what I have right now: These are what I'm looking at: http://forum.mopar1973man.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1816&d=1285716419 Thanks, Winslow

I'm starting get really upset... my rear brakes are still giving me issues. History... Back in January I had the rear cylinders swapped out to the Chevy 1 ton and the rear proportioning valve bypass. Also had new shoes installed. All seemed well up until about a month ago. My work is seasonal so things picked up a month ago.. so more driving and braking began. It seems the warmer the brakes (fluid?) get.. the worse they get. Recently had the rear drums turned, new spring kit and adjusters installed. The shudder is back and progressively getting worse each day.. and again the more use they see throughout the day.. the worse the shudder. They also become extremely touchy (g…

This just started this morning, a popping sound when making a tight right turn at low speed. In a parking lot for example. Had not done it turning left at all. Wife said she felt it in the floorboard when it popped. This is while in 2WD. Have not tried in 4WD yet. No obvious cause when I looked under the truck. Truck has 187,000 mile on all the stock hardware except shocks which I replaced last weekend. Suggestions on what to check for?

Went and did my taxes a few days back and found out I'm getting some money back this year rather than paying, which is awesome news for me and the hospital... I'll be using the majority of the money to pay off the hospital bill I racked up last Thursday, all thanks to the stupid ice and snow!! :banghead::banghead::banghead:Anyway, I decided that if I'm gonna pay off the hospital I at least want to get an HID Kit for my truck. I have been looking for the blue-ish tint ones and haven't found ant good sites. I want something that stands out from the crowd, and no, I am not gonna get the cheap e-bay knock-off's. Anybody know of some good sites or at least lead me in the right…

Ok so i picked up a scan gauge the other day. Got it hooked up, filled my tank up and calibrated according to directions and followed through with the other set up instructions. All of the engine monitoring (rpm, coolant temp, etc) seem to be functioning correctly but the avg mpg and mpg are waaay out in left field. Fuel type b seems to give accurate readings when accelerating but when maintaining any speed its way off. Ive taken 2 trips 25 miles each way at 65 mph the gauge shows im getting 40 mpg ish. At 55 its even higher. While id like to see those kind of numbers, its obviously wrong. Anybody have any thoughts? I was reading about the fuel cut off, do i need to adjus…

Starting to make a list for my new to me 1999 3500 extra cab 4x4, and one at the top of the list is the steering. There is a half a steering wheel turn worth of slop to the left, and hardly any to the right. Do you think the gear box needs replacing?

  20. I am going to get rid of the 22s that I have on my truck now and I may have found a set of 2012 wheels someone took off their new truck. Y'all think $400 for a set of new takeoffs is fair? I would really prefer 18" wheels, but 17s wouldn't be horrible.ETA: The 22s came with the truck... I didn't go buy gangsta wheels.
