I have seen the question asked a million times on other forums. It usually comes down to someone claiming to be an awesome mechanic stating that hydroboost brake boosters aren't rebuild-able/resealable or that they are so complicated if you took them apart you would never get them back together. :banghead: Well even though my hydroboost has been doing a great job keeping my undercarriage lubricated the constant top offs with power steering fluid and air in the system got pretty annoying. I decided that I would take a peek inside of it and possibly reseal it. I didn't plan to rebuild the unit as there are a couple specialized tools you either have to purchase or …

Last week I started getting some “pre-WT” mod like symptoms. Miss, cuts, tc lock/unlock at 30-40mph especially when lugging at low rpm. Truck has wt mod, nations 180 alternator, year old batteries, new battery cables, and lug terminals. Grounds are perfect. Everything is clean. Not a hiccup since WT mod 3 years ago. Trans is a year old with 5K. Around the same time this started happening I noticed my AC wasn’t blowing cold. Charged it. Then noticed intermittent cold ac. Everything in the dash is newer (heater treater, blend door actuator, evaporator, etc) Tested batteries and alternator for ac and get .01 to .015 with all accessories on or off, but d…

Okay..... I know I'll probably regret it but, a guy can spend over 5-600 bucks just for stock sport headlights and I'm used to my first gen at 24 bucks ea. and its all glass. So wondering if anyone dealt with the issues on the ebay version? I plan on using LEXEL (it fuses to plastic) to seal around the lenses and then get stainless fine thread screws that I can change out for the adjustment screws. BTW, the Lexel sealant you can use to build up weak places in plastic since Michael Nelson was talking about some portion snapping off or something, basically warning me not to get them. lol.

Fellas, I bought an 01 2wd and parted it out for the interior (leather) and I am putting it in my 02. It had an overhead console and I removed the wiring harness from it today and saw the wiring harness coming from where the temp sensor is mounted, comes back and ties into the main wiring harness, not just plugged in like I had hoped it would. Has anyone ever added the overhead console and had the same issue and could tell me what you did? Also the junker had remote door locks, just wondering if it's just a matter of plugging them into the harness in the door and they'll operate, or a different harness all together going into the main? :whistle:Would like to know before I…

So, I finally had time to spray in the Al's DIY bedliner kit today...prepped the bed, had everything taped and masked off. It was nice and warm out, no wind, sunny, everything was good-until I started mixing the first batch up. I got it mixed up, and realized I had forgotten to put an airline fitting on the spray gun....So, I'm running around the garage, trying to find a fitting, before the batch had a chance to set. I didn't end up having to worry about that. In my rush to get the fitting on, and get the material in the gun and sprayed, I didn't realize I had failed to mix the B bottle into the batch... Until I had started spraying it. It was coming out like crap,…

So has anyone done any serious towing with the electric fan conversion kits that are on the market? I was thinking these would probably be the way to go since the viscous fan clutches aren't all that great. Just wondering it was worth the 650$

I know this has been discussed in the past, but I wanted a refreshment on this subject. I need to bring some sheet rock home and wondering where the limit is. From what I read d80 supposed to handle something like 11,000lb so hopefully I don't have to worry about axle housing or bearings failing. Another factor is springs, which I have air bags to help and tires. I would say I can move around 4,000lb driving in town taking it easy. I've had right at 4,000lb of paving blocks in her before and did just fine. The issue now is my truck is a short box and I'm getting 12 feet long sheets of drywall so the weight will shift more back. I made a support bracket that slides in rec…

Hi all! It's soon ball joint time for me. In my research some say you need a $300+ tool set to do them. If that's the case I might as well pay a shop to do it but I like to do my own work. I've never done these but I did on my F2504x4 and I remember the loaner tool from Advance didn't have big enough parts to handle a larger joint like that. I have access to an arbor press and can make cups and stuff in the machine shop. Do I really need a ball joint press? Can't I just take the nuts off and hammer the joint loose from the axle and then take the whole knuckle and put it in an arbor press? Is there a write-up anywhere on this or for those familiar can you give me a step by…

Hello, My 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24 valve 250xxx has an interesting issue. I have done quite a bit to the front end to try and figure out this issue. Replaced the steering gear box with a redhead unit. Steering gear box brace. Track bar upgrade to bushing with heim joint. Power steering lines when I did the steering gear box. Borg Warner steering shaft upgrade. That delron piece on the steering unit engine side this one http://rocksolidramtrucksteering.com/index.php/about-the-fix/ . Rebuilt the vacuum pump. Replaced the hydroboost a few years ago. Calipers like 2 or 3 times now. Pulled the rear proportioning valve off as it was rusted heavily and I blew t…

I have an issue that you small electronics guys may have a solution for. When I turn off my car stereo, there is a delay for the screen to shut down. Once the stereo turns off there is a loud thud from the subwoofers connected to an amp. I have reduced the remote turn on wire from 12v to 5v via (2) 1k ohm resistors and still does it. My thinking is that there it a voltage spike when the radio turns off causing the problem. What would I use to catch this or how would I "filter" this spike?

My AC was out... I was assuming the evap core had cracked again. I took it by a new mechanic to check it out which he did while I waited... about an hour. He seems interest in discovering the problem & just fixing that, than replacing a bunch of parts. He discovered there was still some freon in it... he tried to get dye into it... I think he went back & forth 3 times... in the end he succeeded in recharging it. He thiinks that the filter was not replaced on the previous repair... perhaps it was plugged & he dislodged it. Anyrate I now have cold, although still stuck on the defrost mode (vacume control problem, that we knew). So the charges were $…

My original plan was to change the front brake pads. I figured it would be a good idea to flush the brake fluid before removing the calipers, taking them apart and cleaning them and reinstalling them. I started in the back and right out of the gates I hit a road block. The bleeder valve on the rear cylinder was rusted tight and it sheared off when I tried force it. Guess what? The other side was the same way. I replaced them both and in the process I sprung a leak in the middle of a brake line. I replaced the brake line and FINALLY got moving with things. I flushed the system fairly well and found a lot of sludge inside both calipers. They did clean up nice and th…

Does anybody have a preffered dealer that they use? I found one dealer here where you can get the FF5617 for 12$ and the FS19768 Water Seperator for 30$ http://partstore.caseih.com/us/ValleyImplement/filters-c1297.html Was just curious where the vast majority of air dog users are getting their filters?

In the parts manual, Figure 08A-430, The overhead console has a part named "DOOR, Garage Door Opener" (I guess your garage door open supposed to go) Anyway the plastic tag that you push in to open broke today. This is the little compartment that is near the mpg, trip meter readout thing. Above the rear view mirror. Any good ideas what to do with that space to make it useful? Thanks
