  1. Man I hate when people do that. It would be best to contact Edge Products and just get a new wiring harness and not use that hacked up wiring. I'll take a look at mine and let you know how its hooked up but I will warn that pin assignment on the MAP sensor is different from 01 to 02. I'm working with stock 02 wiring but using a Cummins 01 MAP sensor adapter.
  2. Holley pumps tend to fail in the motor brushes or the shaft seal. Back in the day Holley blue and blacks were very common. But failure was also very common too. Vulcan Performance Big Line Kit is what will do that exactly as for moving the pump towards the fuel tank. Includes all the electrical for the pump, plumbing and even the mounting bracket. But all this never cured the lift pump life span issues. Most the pump couldn't hold up to the additional strain during the cold winter months as the fuel thicken up to nearly jello state. AirDog and FASS where the first two pump to come forward that held up to weather conditions.
  3. Personally I think they would be too hot to use at least for me. Just running around loaded with firewood and getting a heavy foot I can tip the 1,200*F in exhaust temperatures. This why I'm looking at the RV as the next test. Load it up!
  4. Just gave Deborah a call and her know there are people interested in Frantz filters...
  5. I'm all for any 2 cycle oil in diesel fuel. It's better than dirty waste engine oil or ATF which both have side effect with ash content, debris content, chemical that work against combustion process. Being that today's fuel is 520 HFRR and Bosch requires fuels to score lower than 450 HFRR.
  6. I wouldn't say that. It just my Rv275's were already well used when I got them so its not exactly a fair challenge. But still in all both gave good power and performance. Just the new +50's are more efficient than the wore 275's. The other reason I went up was assuming that a custom injector would net slightly better gain than a factory Bosch injector. I think I'm right on that... Time will tell.
  7. Yes. You got to roll off enough paper to fit within the can of the Frantz Filter. So typically what I do is use it to drips or spills of used oil on the floor with the paper I roll off.
  8. Refer to: http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/7821-Screaming-Beavers I know my ScanGauge isn't exactly right on the money but even with the 2 trips of firewood hauling I did I still pulled a nice 16.5 MPG. What is quite amazing is my pyrometer temperatures are roughly 50-100*F cooler than the RV275's and even my boost pressure is lower. Even with all the weight from the wood it was like 600*F worth of pyro and 5 PSI of boost at 55 MPH. I really do want to hitch up the RV next...
  9. Welcome neighbor. Just north of you in the great state of Idaho. So you might end up coming this way sometime working in the forest. But once again welcome to the family.
  10. You could back down to 200:1 and be good! Personally I run WalMart Supertech 2 Cycle Oil and have been for 128K miles. I add in 1 ounce to 1 gallon every fill up. My VP44 injection pump has over 163K miles and no sign of wearing out.
  11. Bingo! Wild and Free & ISX hit the nail right on the head. As you notice there is no extra parts in my photos. I do carry some basic tools typically but nothing else. I typically go through a full one month inspection on my truck and deal with everything. Check fluids, axles, brakes, transmission, etc. I treat my truck as if its a airplane. Because with a airplane if there is a failure you going to crash. Well in my case like Wild and Free I get the sub-zero temps and where I live it might be deadly trying to walk to get help for a vehicle failure. No cell service so AAA is meaningless. To this day my truck had NEVER seen a tow truck and never left me stranded on the highway I've always gotten home. Like for example. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/7736-Replaced-Straight-Pipe On my inspection I took note of my pipe starting to get small pin holes so I knew that it was low priority but I needed a new piece of exhaust pipe for the truck. So I just planned next time I headed to town pick up the pipe and Get R' Done. You bee so amazed how reliable your beast can be if you do once a month inspections.
  12. I'm also running a Frantz Filter on my truck. Amazing gal here in Nampa, ID that builds them. Deborah Walker is the owner of Frantz Filters. Very good filter system I change mine out every 5K miles and change oil every 10k miles. Contact Info. 13. Very good you noticed it. The first load I was having trouble walking over the 3 snow drifts to get the wood with my bald street tires so when I came home with the first load I ate lunch and swapped those on and head back out. Stihl 046 Magnum (20 years old) and a Stihl 461 (brand new). Not sure on the weight but even last night the truck was sitting level will a full load. If I was a gambling man I would have to say about 2,200 pounds or slightly more. I was enjoying breaking in the the new saw on some light duty cutting. The first load was only one tree. Second load was 2 slightly smaller trees. All of it is Alpine fir I'm right at about 5,500 feet cutting at the snow line. In a bit I get a picture of the pile in the yard of how much wood I got with only 2 loads.
  14. This is going to be a quick post for my first wood haul of the season I'll post more later on I'm tired. :sleep:First load.Second load...
  15. The weather here turn hot! I mean hot as 90-95*F and the snow melt is kicking up the river in a quick hurry here. Nothing dangerous yet but quickly rising in flow. Like last night I slept out in the RV being I had a friend over and the river is getting louder through the evening as the water is rising. Yeah out here the river rises at night and falls during the day. It takes 12 hours for the melt flow to get to me. As for the company I getting ampped up to start hauling firewood this morning. (Screamin' Beavers!)
  16. Well at least you don't have to pull the HVAC to fix that...
  17. Please share this info!
  18. Or... http://articles.mopar1973man.com/general-cummins/36-fuel-system/68-hfrr-testing-of-common-diesel-fuel-additives I would... Or how about putting chainsaw oil in my diesel truck (Sthl 2 cycle oil)???
  19. Lets say that gasoline has a high HFRR score high enough that a two cycle engine would be destroyed in a short order without oil added.
  20. Blind leading the blind neither side of that thread produces any proof of anything...
  21. Most have seen a improvement over the stock injectors. But your improvement is based on driving habits. So more than likely you gains will be near nothing. I'm typically 5-10 under the speed limit (55-60 MPH) so my gains are going to be greater. For every 10 MPH over 55 MPH your wind drag doubles by 65 its 4 times then by 75 MPH its 8 times. Speed is a huge factor to MPG's. Larger holes in the nozzle means that the same amount of fuel can be sprayed in the cylinder faster or in a shorter burst compared to stock. So this gives the illusion of having advanced timing.
  22. I've got a Garmin as well but Garmin will not tell you a instant MPG on the fly on after everything is said and done. Which with my life I can't do that because one day I might be towing trailers and the next day climbing around the forestry roads fighting fires who knows. With the ScanGauge II I can use a single day as a test bench and measure out MPG's as a single day instead of a full tank. ScanGauge figures on... Speed (MPH) / Flow (GPH) = MPG So if you can calibrate you speed with the Garmin which I know my odometer is off but the ScanGauge II is dead on. The calibrate your flow or consumption of fuel rate then you can see real time MPG's numbers. So now I'm not stuck having to drive conservatively the entire tank, doing all my towing with the gasser, etc. I can test bench on a single day and set have good numbers to report. But what AH64ID is after is the fact the fuel system has change which I admit it has too. But the changes are so very small I doubt the 10HP change (Rv275's +40 to +50 HP) is going to change offset a huge amount. Even the fuel gauge is pointing that the numbers have to close. Even worse case I would say maybe the number is 1 MPG off. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRQdoPs_tLo Also give me a break the injectors have only been in the truck a little over 48 hours... Geez!
  23. Maybe your right. I was tried when I posted last night. I start thinking about Mom's truck and it extreme high offset I think you might be right too. Ahh... What the hell. We'll find out when I fill up.
