  1. I like the bucket pictures lol, and the hood looks cool, but you really don't want to suck cold air on a diesel on daily driver.
  2. After i put my mag cover on the rear, my temps are definitely cooler, before it was almost hot now just worm to the touch.
  3. Yeah I really don't like doing it, but on an old set of tires I thought why not, just once, just for fun, and then I remembered all the hard work I did to this pile of bolts and decided not to lol.
  4. I can't even spin my tires unless it's slick or wet out, must be good tire or my tune. Just got rid of some tires and rims I bought to temporary use and was going to do a burn out, after few attempts feeling like I'm going to brake something I gave up. But on few occasions I spun tires going up a wet hill
  5. It's not funny I want my truck to look mean so people yield at 4way stop signs, I swear they did more often with bigger tires Now my truck is only cool then I first Fire it up in the parking lot, everyone has to turn around and see if a semi is coming.
  6. I'll never go back to the 285. This pizza cutter disease is spreading, thanks a lot Mike....
  7. My next pump is probably going to be Industrial Injection and I'm staying with ho pump more than likely. I had intermittent problems pointing to VP, but never a code. After injectors, alternator, and now the ground mod, truck seems to be happy. Aside from a small dead spot when taking off with engine cold, that I believe maybe in tuning, pulling too much duration. At least now that you'll have a new VP, you'll have a piece of mind also. I always have that in back of my mind, what if. Unfortunately it doesn't stop, I take care of one if, and seem to always find another one to think about. Good luck with your VP.
  8. I decided to give 265 a shot, kinda getting used to smaller look, performance seems better, enough to notice and MPG went up a bit but now that it's cold back down. Going to play with timing and see what happens.
  9. I want to add something too Even if sensor is not in oil when moving, coming to a stop should then make the temp go up if sensor got submerged in fluid when stopped. I would think unless air inside is same temperature then nothing would change. But then again I seen my temp drop 15- 20 degrees or so in matter of seconds less than a minute on a hot day, lagging it in 6th and then downshifting to 5th keeping same speed. So maybe by the time you come to a stop it would change to much to really see what happens at speed vs load. Did anyone understood what I'm trying to say or is it just me following my own thoughts
  10. Personally I think you'll be fine just keep your RPMs up
  11. I had a Walmart jack years ago and it worked for 7-8years then started to lose prime $120, about that time I got one for b day, it's a craftsman 3 ton low profile aluminum$300, quick up till it hits something then it works normal. Had it for about 8 years now, no problems yet but age is showing. I also have a 20 ton bottle jack and some 4x6 wood blocks in the truck. Used it few times now for other people. One was a 14k loaded gooseneck Trailer with a mud truck on top, blew a tire, if it wasn't for my jack, we'd have to unload the trailer, the thing lifted the whole side of Trailer up enough to change the tire. It's not that big ether, I have it in 5gallon bucket along with few other things.
  12. I have 5100 on my truck, though I was going to have it lifted a bit more but never did. So they are a little long but still work. 4600 is probably what I should have gotten. Forgot to add. Aren't the shocks is what limits travel also.... so if I ever hit a bump where axle drops far enough, my coil springs may come out
  13. Didn't someone just talk about it in a different thread. Something about a loose cluster, just unplug it and plug it in and see if anything changes.
  14. In your case it probably was high drive pressure, in mine the only logical thing I can think of is exhaust back pressure, that I heard can get in 70-80 range. I never seen anything more than 45psi, maybe 50 of boost for short bursts. Or I'm just hard on my truck and drive it like I stole it, which on a rare occasion I do. Still never had an issue till I had the head redone. I'd hate blaming a shop for this but in this case they could of at least told me that top hats was an option, I would of definitely spent extra 80 bucks to not deal with this.
  15. Then it must be the exhaust brake that pushed my seals off hight enough to get bit up by retainers. Idk but still wish I had the head machined for top hat seals, the ones that are supposed to be used not the ones I used. I don't like the fact I have a small gap/cavity between top of guide and bottom of seal/lip. I believe that cavity will fill in with soot and contribute to more guide wear, for now I haven't used the exhaust brake much.
  16. What are you pushing for boost, do you have an exhaust brake.
  17. The reason that wire is rerouted is because of all the noise coming off it that affects other wires in that Loom. I believe that's the main reason.
  18. Needs a quick release, so if you know you're going over you can push a button and have the wind only take the top part
  19. I guess I missed one more thing, original hitch had L shape on bottom edge for maybe side movement, this curt one is just straight no bends. I guess pulling a trailer probably be ok, but if yanking someone out of ditch sideways may flex it a little, but then again it's beefy enough I wouldn't think it would be a problem. I may just take it off some day and weld an edge along bottom side. I know it's better then what I had, and it seems that there is always something to be tweaked no matter how good or new it is.
  20. I would just get a new VP if yours is original something like Industrial Injection. Even if it bench tests ok, I doubt there's much life left in it, especially the ones that came from Factory. Even the rebuilt units generally get about 250k just saying if you're going to pay few hundred dollars for bench testing, might as well spend a little more and get a new pump. Jmo
  21. https://goo.gl/images/8crPKd @notlimah Or @NIsaacs If me, it's in exactly same place that my other one was.
  22. I would definitely consider using Valvoline 50wt synthetic that claims to work on synchromesh if I was 100% sure about no long-term damage. But now knowing people are run 15-40 motor oil in nv5600 maybe I will try the 50weigh next time I change it.
  23. I think it may be coming sooner than later. Their testing these self driving cars everywhere now. I guess they'll start with big cities to cut traffic. So it'll be like a cab but no driver, no need for parking it takes you where you want to go drops you off and when you need it again push a button on the phone and it's back to take you else where. Money will automatically come out of your account. On positive side you can drive drunk, just stay in back seat at mercy of ai. For those that don't want to give up our old clunkers I'm sure they got a plan, like must have gps tracker so smart cars can communicate better, cheaper insurance rates bla bla bla. Petroleum will probably skyrocket because it will be mostly used for farming/construction and electric shavers will be everywhere else. For some it will be best thing ever happened for others not so much. Kinda like join the club or we'll bit you over the head with it till you do join. Idk I could go forever on this lovely subject. If i said all this even 10 years ago you'd think I'm nuts, but it doesn't sound that crazy anymore. Been happening behind the scenes for some time now. Ok I'm leaving now
