  2. Well kit is $50 for holset, exhaust housing is the funnest part to get apart. Pb blast and some working on it does the trick. If it was brand new, it would be super easy to rebuild, not much to them. Need to be careful not to break tiny parts. Maybe take few pictures along the way as you disassemble it to help later. I used 2 1/4" flat pieces of steel and backed off bolts to pry it apart. Good luck.
  3. My speedometer always worker fine but abs/brake light would come and go. After changing front sensors and later hubs with sensors again I changed rear sensor again and it fixed my issue. But you are right, usually you'd lose spedo, like truck we had at work 2500 gasser wire was rubbing on sway bar and got shorted out, I fixed the wire and all came back to normal, spedo didn't work with bad wire.
  4. Even when filling up with bio ?
  5. I've done more reading and others have reported same, I got a new bushing coming from flebay for $15 + tax see if it helps to tighten it up a bit. It's not bad now just figured I'd try bushing first before I jump on shifter. Mine only has 175k on it. And it seems that lots of people have same issue with going my to 3rd. So maybe it's all normal with these nv5600
  6. There's more than one way to do it, this is mine.
  7. I'm thinking just getting a bushing for now just to see what happens
  8. Just looked them up, decent price and looks promising. So you like the short shift vs original? Sounds like you do, I think I'll get one just to see if it helps, cheaper than a different tranny... Just not sure on short throw how much shorter is it, guessing the pivet point is in different spot and it makes it shorter, you'd think it'd make it harder to shift, no
  9. Wow, just think if someone had no idea what to do next, probably cost them few thousand bucks to deal with that. Good thing you had some tools with you. So is this something that may have been overlooked by the rebuilder or is it not obvious till it happens. I'm now wondering if I should change that little plastic cup at the end of a shifter on my nv5600, see if it helps shifting at all
  10. Honestly I never looked up a kit hoping I never will I would just use all factory cummins stuff, I think @TFaoro used Marine something in his built, pistons and bearings maybe Here's one of his threads, I thought he had another one where he listed all parts he used.
  11. I loved traction bars on my toy trucks I had, they kept things from hopping and breaking. Not sure if they help on washboard roads, it does make sense that they should. Depends on how they are designed, I seen some that connect without accounting for travel back and forth, used as a single bar. I'm not in favor of these as they fix your axle in one place. Sure they would work for wrapping axle but it puts stress on leaf springs. You know how your drive shafts slips in and out of tcase/transmission, well with one solid bar it won't much if any and probably be a stiffer ride. I built my own using shackles, that way it could travel back and forth but won't allow the axle to twist. Best setup in my opinion is four link suspension using coil springs, kind of like what they did on newer trucks, much softer ride, more articulation, axle can twist.
  12. I would do WT mod, it's easy, cheap and cures/prevents a lot of issues. Good place to start, if you find any noise isolators get rid of them.
  13. Dieselfuture reviewed Mopar1973Man's Cummins article in Engine
One of the best and cheapest mods I did to my truck.
  14. So much good information
  15. Rear end is that way, torque to spec then back 90 degrees.
  16. I used to know a guy like that, good storyteller. Nice guy though, was fun hanging out with him never a dull moment. You don't live in Florida buy a chance do you? Because that's where he moved to.
  17. When I first got my truck and had a lot of questions I called PO and tried getting some info out if him just to find out later he had no clue on what he was talking about. Thanks to this place I got where I am today.
  18. Have you checked for ac noise, any codes when you scan it? Sorry I may be missing some info, just thinking out loud. I don't think your fuel pressure is related to cutting out, it seems that you have electral issue.
  19. You're right, I had an issue with abs coming on and changed the rear sensor, still did it, so changed front sensors, still did it, few years later I changed front wheel hubs with sensors, still did it, then I had abs module rebuild, still did it, well I changed the rear sensor again and no more light...... Poop happens, don't think new sensor is always good.
