Water Pump
Since the water pump is so inexpensive and easy to change why not just change it and eliminate it as a possible cause? Also, since there is some movement in the shaft then it probably is not long for this world......

issues.
On the auto tranny trucks there are no shims. The NV5600s use a spacer though. I wonder if the TV cable is not quite right. If it is not set right it won't shift right.

You could use a 1 foot bar and stand on the end...... You do weigh more than 180 pounds, right???

Multiple codes
How are you pulling the codes? All the codes according to my book should begin with the letter "P" followed by the number "0" and a three digit code, BUT, all I have only go up to P0804.

Truck won't turn over at times
I was thinking the same thing as dripley. IF you do this BE CAREFUL! The truck will turn over and start in gear! That probably won't end well.......

Instrument panel brake light stays on.
What happens if you operate the parking brake switch with your hand? Another thing a lot of people don't know about is if your brake light fuse blows your brake light on the dash will light.

1920's Dodge - Oil Field Dodge Promotion

Diesel fuel additive??
I think that Schaffers need to look at their pictures and captions a little better. I would MUCH rather have my injectors spraying like their "dirty" injector. The "clean" one is not looking good to me.......... This is the picture of the "clean" one.........

Brake line leak?
That is a steel line. There is a covering on it to 'help' keep it from corroding. You do not NEED to pull the tank, but it helps to get the new line in place. Crawl under the truck and look at the line. You will see where the fittings are and then you can measure the line to see how long of a line to buy. I believe it is 3/16" line.
-
Brake line leak?
Yep, the line that runs behind the tank is leaking. Unfortunately that is a typical spot to leak. Whether or not you pull the tank is up to you, but I seem to remember there is a clamp behind the tank (been about four years since mine leaked there.

Steps for removal of cracked exhaust manifold
Going under the truck won't do you much good. The turbo is quite a ways from the bottom of the truck and unless you have 5' arms you are out of luck........ The bolts for the turbo are tough to get off, but they do come off from the top.

Auto no shift
Mick, I am glad it turned out to be something simple and cheap to fix!
-
Auto no shift
Not trying to get you angry, but did you check your transfer case to make sure it is in gear? What makes me think of that is the grinding when you put it in park.

No Backup Lights
9 chances out of 10 the problem with yours is the neutral safety switch which also has the back up light switch built in. My daughter's truck was the same way. It took two different switches to get them to work (the first new one didn't work, second new one did). The switch is screwed in to the side of the transmission right where the shifting linkage hooks up to the tranny. It is a very easy fix.

Who's Burning???
I don't burn wood, but I have not even turned my furnace on this fall......yet. We have even had a couple of hard freezes here too. I still have my bedroom windows open too.

Exhaust brake?
Yep, a '97 is a 12v. From what I read all 12v need the 60lb springs.

Trans keeps going into limp mode, no first gear
What code(s) are you getting? That would point you to somewhere to start. It sounds suspiciously like a faulty temp sensor or a temperature problem.

Obamacare is so screwed up
You guys want to talk about what is paid by some Union workers? How about $6.60 PER HOUR for every hour worked? It comes out to $264 per week or $1056 per month. I have had many weeks in a row where I paid $396 a week or $1584 per month. You think it might be cheaper under the ACA?Jim, your question about being Union is a very one sided question. There is WAY more to a Union than health insurance.

Burnt wire,HELP!
Those two "coil like things" on the inner fender are the grid heater relays. They are not critical to get the engine running.
