  1. Replacing a solenoid in the transmission has nothing to do with the way the engine runs. It soulds like there is an air leak in the fuel system. Normally the rubber hoses behind the filter are the cause of the leak. You won't see fuel leaking, but the can suck air.
  2. Have the rubber fuel and return lines been replaced?
  3. If memory serves me right, the Heil and Tempstar are the same units, just like Trane and American Standard.
  4. The first thing I would do is pull the J/A and see what it does. That way you can usually determine if it is there all the time or not. Sometimes the boxes just aggravate an existing condition.
  5. If you are working with Dave Goerend you are talking to one of the best Dodge tranny guys in the Midwest. Follow his advice and you will do fine.
  6. I personally would call both Peter at South Bend and Dan at Valair. Discuss what you want out of your clutch with them and compare their recommendations.
  7. Did you check the wiring where it attaches to the left positive battery terminal? There may be a loose/corroded connection there. Next I would recommend you take the plastic of the steering column and check the wiring at the ignition switch.
  8. I didn't figure that you meant the rears...... I have been lucky with the front hubs that I have worked on. They came apart fairly easily!
  9. Check with this guy: http://www.goerend.com/ Dave will be very helpful.
  10. Fishtails, I sure hope you don't tighten the rear hub nuts like that!!! You will have lots of problems like the axle threads will strip, or the nut will strip if you are lucky, or the bearings will ruin the hub..........
  11. Russ, you may find that your trailer will pull a little better when it is level, but your mileage won't change much. The largest factor for towing economy is the wind resistance. I have had two different fiver trailers and the taller they are the less mileage I get. They both weighed about the same too.
  12. You guys are trying to rely on the gauges too much. They are not much more than an 'educated' guess like ISX said. You will not find one to be 100% accurate.
  13. Not trying to bust your balls, but drop the "G" on Cummins. However, no you do not need to add SCAs to the antifreeze on a Cummins.
  14. If you really, really want to block off the waste gate, unhook the line and plug it. The problem with that is IF you go over about 35 PSI you are overspeeding your turbo. At 35 PSI your turbo should be spinning as much as 150,000+ RPMs........ When they grenade......well, it ain't pretty and it gets expensive real quick too.
  15. Just remember, ALL states have a law about impeding the flow of traffic........
  16. Yep..... That sucks.
  17. Have you ever replaced the brake fluid? You may need to flush the fluid and get fresh fluid in and possibly replace your master cylinder.
  18. No, not all that rare, just EXPENSIVE as hell though.........
  19. Check Mass Diesel http://www.massdiesel.com/ or Geno's http://www.genosgarage.com/?gclid=COvZmoPI_KcCFcW8KgodRkchsQ
  20. Where and what???
  21. They wouldn't be so bad IF the manufacturers would hide them under the box better. I think they look like crap.
  22. Sounds to me like either the evap leaks or the connections to it are leaking since you said it started leaking when the new evap went in.l
  23. The recall is not for what you are experiencing....... Original Recall from the NHTSA Model Year(s): 1995, 1996 Mfr's Report Date: May 19, 1997 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 97V068000 NHTSA Action Number: N/A Component: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:VACUUM:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS Potential Number of Units Affected: 58000 Summary: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PICKUP TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH DIESEL ENGINES. THE ENGINE DRIVEN VACUUM PUMP CAN ALLOW ENGINE OIL INTO THE VACUUM HOSES DUE TO THE ABSENCE OF AN INTERNAL CHECK VALVE. THE OIL CAN CAUSE THE HOSE TO DETERIORATE AND PARTIALLY COLLAPSE, REDUCING THE VACUUM SUPPLY TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. Consequence: REDUCED POWER BRAKE ASSIST CAN RESULT INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH. Remedy: DEALERS WILL ADD A VACUUM PUMP CHECK VALVE TO THE VACUUM PUMP. IN ADDITION, THE VACUUM HOSE CONNECTED TO THE VACUUM PUMP WILL BE REPLACED WITH A HOSE THAT IS ENGINE OIL RESISTANT. Notes: OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 19, 1997. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403. ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-800-424-9393.
  24. Yep. Two bolts just like the rest of them.
  25. Um, he has done the fix and just needs to get the air bag light to go off.
