  1. I win, I chose the Nissan at the beginning.
  2. I was in a hurry a few weeks ago and just stopped by the Dodge dealer to pick up a fuel filter for each of my 2 rigs since I am a fan of fleetgaurds. I found out Mopar only offers 1 filter now for the 24 v and 5.9 cr engines the 7 micron.Good to know that mopar now only uses the 7 mic fs 19856 for both engines.
  3. If the injectors or injection lines are empty they will air lock and act like a shock absorber and will not let the fuel through the lines very well if at all. This is where the cracking of the lines is needed to purge a lot of the air out of the lines. To describe it in an easier way put your finger over one end of a straw and put the straw under the faucet and try to fill the straw with water, you find the air in the straw prevents the water from entering because there is no way for the air to get out. Air doesn't compress the same as fluid.
  4. Its not an uncommon problem. I would check the connection at the base of the column as well as the pins inside the connectors. The 3rd gens are highly notorious for having burned pins inside the connections. I have also heard of bad wires in the area where the column tilts. Imagine what happens when you take a piece of wire and bend it back and forth many times. they can weeken and break. Has he tried starting it while holding the key in start position and tilting the column?
  5. Yep on what Mike he said since its parked. I never go anywhere without a wheel change ramp, just a simple ramp you set in front of one tire as Mike described drive up on it and the other axle hangs free, there is not always enough quality boards around to "Safely" change a tire on the road, its a huge time saver as well rather than having to mess with jacks.
  6. Don't condem them until you drive it for a week or so. The fuel you see can weep out of the void between the injection line nut and the void in the head where the tube goes into the head. I just replaced my injectors a few weeks ago and it weeped fuel for almost a week before drying up. I was thinking i had a leak as well but let it go for a couple more days and it dried up finally. This is of course happens only if you leave the lines loose to prime the system and pump air out to get it running. If you tightened them up right away and are one who is a starter killing crank it forever to get it to prime and there is fuel leaking then I would suspect a leak then.
  7. I work with the guy who owns this business, I will personally vouch for his integrity. He just took over and bought this business from his father. Give him a call and have a chat with Ryan. here is his web site. I visited with him about doing 4.5 turn to 3.3 turn conversions on our rigs and he said they are no problem at all. I already converted mine to a 3.3 turn a few years ago but it is getting loose so I am going to have him go through it and tighten things back up for me. http://www.bluetopsteeringgears.com/
  8. Been a while since doing one can't remember right off hand. as far as removing both I would not, It keeps all the oil from draining back out of the cooler system. Thus preventing areation of the oil when it has to pump all that oil back through at start up.
  9. It is a rubber ball and it will pop out if you get behind it to pry out with a seal pick or very small screw driver.
  10. Those old gun racks saved my mothers life, we have a large farm and we had a Steiger tractor that takes 8D batteries which we had just replaced. Short story she was driving down a freshly bladed county road in a 1975 IH 3/4 ton 4 x4 pickup when she hooked the gravel ridge and it pulled her into the ditch where she rolled the pickup at which point the batteries tried to come through the back window but my dad had 2 700 remington rifles in the good ol bolt in steel rifle rack that the batteries got caught up in and she suffered a concusion. had the rifles or the gun rack not been in the back window she may well have been killed.
  11. I have had a set of those setting on my reloading bench for years, The are ok at best the problem is they never stayed tight Used them for a couple seasons and got tired of them falling out or loosening up and rattling.I miss the old school steel ones that bolted to the back of the cab. O yeah The good ol 60's and 70's rigs. with steel in the cab yet.
  12. It is a square cut O-ring, I don't consider it a gasket though. Answers the confusion now though.
  13. Here is about everything you will need to know as well as get parts. great company, well worth the few bucks you will spend to get quality info. The NV4500 and 5600 info has been closely gaurded as far as finding it online over the years. At best I have found some good pictures and thats about it. http://www.4x4repairmanuals.com/nv4500manuals.html
  14. The water pump mounts with an o-ring not a gasket. Never seen a gasket come with a B series cummins water pump.
  15. I like the westach personally they are not pretty but they are great gauges, What ever gauge setup you choose you need the sensor to match the sender if you were looking at just replacing the sender. As for a place for the sensor check out the thread linked below. The factory line with the temp sensor port in it is the best place to monitor tranny temp. Monitoring it in the pan is worthless information, the gauge is just for decoration at that point. that oil is the coldest oil in the system, you need to monitor the oil at its hottest point which is the cooler line as it exits the converter. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/1135-Installing-Tranny-temp-gauge?highlight=cooler+line
  16. Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car. She writes: Dear Grand-daughter, ... The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a 'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker .. I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed. I found that lots of people love Jesus! While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of God!' 'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!' What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus! Everyone started honking! I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! ; There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach. I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant. He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something. Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back. My grandson burst out laughing. Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!! A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection. I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!! Will write again soon, Love, Grandma
  17. His lines are so rotted out I told him via PM to just cut the lines off close to the fittings and screw the fittings out of the tranny and not try to get them apart, he ordered the fittings the lines hook to as well.
  18. I put the heavier factory snow plow springs in the front of my 02 which with the weight of the ranch hand bumper perked it back up to stock ride height and rake. The part # for them ends with 988AA and were only about 200 bucks and do not ride bad at all.
  19. I would try a salvage yard first. next would be dealer and or a fastener company like fastenall. Its an uncommon fastener being its a 12 point shouldered head bolt and most likely grade 8 or equivilant metric 11.9 ect.
  20. I have installed every steering mod there is on my 02 and the best one of all was going to a 3.3 turn steering gear. Hands down the one steering mod that should be made for improved steering on every 2nd gen Dodge period.
  21. My replys are in your quote above with the part numbers for the lines you are looking for. If you look at the description on rockautos web site it describes them and their location quite well.
  22. If you go the cobble route and try what he has I would highly suggest that you flare the ends of the steel pipe to aid in the prevention of the pressure pushing the lines apart the flare will give the hose clamp a bulge it can't pop over, even though the pressure is slight will be higher when its cold out and when everything shrinks I have seen many trannies burned up when the pressure pops the hose off the pipe due to the 1 dollar cobble job.A hundred bucks for a couple pipes is well worth the insurance rather than chancing a 3K tranny.
  23. Thats good but this one from Volkswagon is still my favorite
